Mumbai (IANS): The comedy film “Golmaal Returns” is a copy of the 1973 production “Aaj Ki Taza Khabar”, a complainant told a film producers’ forum Tuesday.

Shakuntala Bhatia lodged a complaint with the Indian Motion Picture Producers’ Association (IMPPA) that “Golmaal Returns”, which was released Oct 29, was a direct copy of her husband, producer Rajendra Bhatia’s “Aaj Ki Taza Khabar”, starring Kiran Kumar, Radha Saluja and Asrani.

She said she came to know of the similarities of the stories between the two movies only after she read reviews of “Golmaal Returns” in a Bollywood trade magazine Monday. She substantiated her claim, saying the reviewers had also noted as much in their magazines.

Bhatia claimed a compensation of Rs.50 million from “Golmaal Returns” producer Shree Asthavinayak Cine Vision as Kiron Production, headed by her, was in the process of re-making “Aaj Ki Taza Khabar”.

While most people are shouting themselves hoarse about Ghajini being the re-make of South film Ghajini , which in-turn is touted to be the re-make of Christopher Nolan’s Memento , the filmmaker and the cast, claim that this Hindi film isn’t an exact ‘remake’!

First, they claim it’s not Memento at all. And if it’s a remake of the Tamil film, spokespersons say that the script has been changed and alterations made to make it ‘a product of its own’. “Yes, the premise of the South film and this Ghajini may be the same, the actress and director may be the same, too, but just because you’ve watched the South version, you haven’t seen it all. This Hindi film offers something new and exclusive, too,” we’re told, “And the film surely has nothing to do with Memento .”

Actor Aamir Khan bulked up his body for his role in this film. Rigorous workouts and a planned diet allowed him to realise his goal within a year’s time. “Actually, I was busy even with the post-production of Taare Zameen Par ‘ while readying myself for the role and my look. It took a toll on me, it was stressful, but once I realized it was a mind game more than a body game, I knew how to deal with it,” said Aamir, who unveiled the first look of the 60-seconder trailer of Ghajini to the media, on the auspicious day of Diwali.

Fashion in a nutshell is the view of madurbhandarkar on fashion industry infact in one of the frames of the film u do see madhur himself on screen what follows after this is a remark of a model that this time this realistic maker is making film on fashion world and he will expose the reality of this world and that is what this film is all about .

What is shown together is some itsy bitsy adaption of fashion industry which is hardly cohesive enough in order to be a full satire but engaging enough infact madur has concentrated mostly on artificial aspects of this industry.

In the character of sonali u can see the influence of geetanjali (the girl who was high on drug and later was reduced to begging in street of delhi after she was abandoned from her family though its other thing she was rehabilited thanks to media but this is not the case here ), there is madhur’s take on wardrobe malfunction of carlos gracias which was debated to hilt in media again the clear picture is not given , there are some scarcastic remark on sexuality of some of the designers and how most of the time they steal their designs and then there there are the fake kisses, fake marriages to cover up one’s sexuality , general insecurities and back bitching of this dark gloomy world .

Infacat in order to make the fashion world naked madhur ironically uses the half naked , size zero models which again only enhances the glam quotient of this movie.

That A R Rahman is a master composer is no biggie. What is truly commendable is that he has earned an unblemished reputation of someone whose name alone sends promises of astounding melody. And so, at the risk of gushing, I’d say any soundtrack by him is like an event itself, more significant than hugely popular stars and their purported demigod status.

This year, he took us on a breathtaking tour of royalty and romance with the majestic Jodhaa Akbar and followed it with the frolic-filled, foot-tapping trendiness in the youthful beats of Jaane Tu … Ya Jaane Na.

ext, he helms Subhash Ghai’s lavishly-staged, Yuvvraaj, inspired in soul and element from European and Indian classical as well as Rahman’s exclusive library of imagination. Being a wide-ranging musical, Yuvvraaj, starring Salman Khan , Katrina Kaif , Zayed Khan and Anil Kapoor , like Ghai’s Taal is every music-aficionado’s delight.

Here’s why:

Politics beats industry! Tatas officially pulled out of Singur, West Bengal. There will be no Nano in West Bengal and it will be heading to a new location, most preferably, Bhuj, Gujarat. Ratan Tata held a press conference and said he never anticipated such agitation. He also added that Tatas never faces such protests anywhere else.

“It’s India’s project, it’s a shame that we have been forced to move out of Singur, West Bengal. We can’t run a project in police protection” said Ratan Tata. He also promised that Tata Nano will come out on time. “We are in touch of 3-4 states and will take a final decision soon”, said Ratan Tata. “It was a painful decision, but we had to take it. We had no other option. Politics beat industry in West Bengal. But West Bengal has been an investor-friendly state”, he added.

“Mamata Banerjee said people of West Bengal do not want you here. I really wonder from where the protesters got logistic and financial support. I had taken this decision with pain, keeping the wellbeing and safety of my employees in mind”, said Ratan Tata.

Ratan Tata was categorical in saying that Mamata Banerjee forced Tatas out of Singur, West Bengal. He also said that West Bengal CM Buddhadeb Bhatacharjee was distressed when he told him about Tata’s pullout. He also said that vendors are part of Tata Nano project and they will move out with the project. According to sources, Ratan Tata will soon meet Gujarat CM Narendra Modi on thge possibility of moving the Nano project to Bhuj. (The Big Breaking News!)

Madhesh who began as an independent director with the Vijay-starrer Madurai got to direct ‘Captain’ Vijaykanth in his second film Arasangam. Both the films proved to be success stories.

Now for his third film, Madhesh is said to have got the consent of none other than Ajith. Madhesh, who has worked well on the subject, has given his new film the title Thalaivan. More details on the film, especially about the rest of the cast among other things, are yet to be known.

Mumbai, Sept 17: Love him or hate him, but one cant ignore Himesh Reshammiya and his inimitable nasal crooning. But this time, the music director turned actor has landed into trouble for his song - ‘Soniye Je Tere Nal’, which is a popular number from his forthcoming Karzz.

A Punjabi pop singer Kulwinder Kally is bent upon proving that Himesh is a thief and the song is actually his, which he released around four years back. Although, Himesh is vehemently denying it but the NRI Punjabi singer has issued legal notices to Himesh as well as music director Sameer and has claimed damages of whopping Rs5 crore for stealing his song.

Speaking to a news daily, Punjabi pop singer Kulwinder Kally stated that, “This song is being sung by Himesh but this is actually my song. It came out in my cassette ‘Sham Wali Gaddi’ which I had released around 4 years back. Himesh has stolen this song from my cassette. I demand the removal of this song from the film. I have sent them a legal notice and charged them with 5 crore.”

The singer has alleged that the song was written by Shaonki Khan of Pakistan and Kally further claimed that he had the copyrights of this number. Kally has clearly warned the duo that if within 15 days, Himesh and Sameer did not respond he would initiate criminal proceedings against them in court.

Sujoy Ghosh is expecting far busier days ahead. If getting the story-board in place for Aladin was an interesting experience in itself, the film’s shoot with actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt and Riteish Deshmukh came with its own share of fun. The man isn’t relaxing though. He has moved into an extensive post production exercise where he is working day in and night out on getting the special effects in place for this multi-crore film.

“First cut of the film, though sans the special effects, is ready and that has already excited those who have showed faith in the film over the years. However, it is just 40% job done since the special effects are currently in progress which would take up bulk of effort”, says Sujoy Ghosh who has given three years of his life into making Aladin a reality which it is turning out to be.

So impressed are the people behind Aladin that sequel plans are already out. “True, that’s unprecedented”, says Sujoy in an elated tone, “I am happy to be working with people who are so confident about the film that they aren’t really worried about how the box office fate of Aladin would look like. Of course, it is their confidence in the product which is speaking but how many out there would be so keen on getting the second installment in place even before audience response to the first in the line is yet to be ascertained?”

HYDERABAD/KOLKATA: In what would be a further blow for West Bengal’s industrialization plans, India’s fourth-largest software exporter Satyam Computer Services, after dilly-dallying for the last four years, has decided to quit Kolkata.

A decision to not go forward with its proposed software development centre at Salt Lake’s Sector V, Kolkata’s IT hub, was taken at a high-level internal meeting last week. But the move is yet to be formalized and the company’s decision hasn’t so far been communicated to the West Bengal government.

According to internal Satyam sources, the company feels that the piece of land allocated to it in Salt Lake is low-lying and amenable to water logging, especially during monsoons. “Therefore, as such, it is not suitable for establishing a software development centre,” a company source said. Satyam had been allocated 2.77 acres at Salt Lake for the software development centre. On its part, though, the Bengal government still expressed confidence that Satyam would not give up on Kolkata.

Bollywood filmmakers and actors Monday sharply reacted to Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray’s comments against actor and MP Jaya Bachchan, with veteran Shyam Benegal saying it was a “childish” and “silly” remark over a “light-hearted joke”.

Earlier in the day, Thackeray, who has been spearheading a campaign against north Indians in Maharashtra, demanded an unconditional apology from Jaya for her ‘anti-Marathi’ utterances.

Thackeray also threatened to prevent the screening of all films and advertisements starring any of the Bachchans - Amitabh and Jaya and their son and daughter-in-law Abhishek and Aishwarya in Mumbai and whole of Maharashra.

“This is an attempt to divide the entire industry and create borders within the nation,” Nafisa Ali, actor and social worker, told IANS.

‘If that is so, then why does he not go back to Delhi?’ the editorial asked.

Actor Imran Khan won many hearts with his debut film ‘Jaane Tu…Ya Jaane Na’ that was produced by uncle Aamir Khan. Now he’s ‘thrilled’ to be working in yet another film by uncle dear - ‘Delhi Belly’.

‘Yes, I’m finally doing ‘Delhi Belly’, and never mind if my maamu (uncle) is a bit of a slave-driver,’ joked Imran. ‘But seriously… I’m actually thrilled to be doing ‘Delhi Belly’. Working with Aamir maamu is always great. And after ‘Jaane Tu …’ we’re doing something totally different this time,’ Imran told IANS.

‘Delhi Belly’, to be directed by ad-maker Abhinay Deo, is a sex comedy about a young foreign-returned youth’s adventures in the capital. Ranbir Kapoor of ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno’ fame was finalised for the role, but date hassles cropped up.

NEW DELHI: Even as a cocktail of movie releases like “Singh Is Kinng” and ” Rock On ” is keeping film aficionados gleeful, a lull seems to be setting in at the Bollywood box-office that should up the craving for the big October offerings.

There has been no big release after the Independence Day weekend when “Bachna Ae Haseeno” and “God Tussi Great Ho” hit the turnstiles on the heels of big-screen scorcher, “Singh is Kinng”, and unexpected blockbuster, “Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na”.

Since then a string of offbeat films have been giving good company to movie connoisseurs all of August and the likes of Ram Gopal Varma’s ” Phoonk ” and Arjun Rampal-Farhan Akhtar starrer “Rock On!” even made cash registers ring loud at multiplexes.
