It appears to be Luck — by style and not chance for Kaal director Soham Shah. His next project titled Luck, produced by Ashtavinayak, has finally rolled. The action thriller has a starry male line-up with each of the actors flaunting a single, distinct style throughout the film.Soham, who is currently shooting in Goa with Dutt till the weekend, says, “All the guys have a particular style in the film.

Sanjay plays a don and his bearded appearance has been styled by Aalim Hakim.

We have always seen Danny Sir playing a baddie with lots of facial fuzz but he has gone squeaky clean.

There are some people Sajid Khan can’t bear to be in the same room with, and one of them is Kunal Kohli.

The Fanaa director is aware of Khan’s aversion and that’s one reason they keep sniping at each other at every opportunity.

A source close to Sajid says, “Recently, Sajid and Karan Johar were compering the at the Zee Awards in London.

Mumbai: Shemaroo is co-producing a movie with Vishal Bharadwaj for his protégé Abhishek Chaubey. The film is titled Ishqia. It stars Arshad Warsi, Vidya Balan and Nana Patekar.

Shemaroo Entertainment director Hiren Gada says, “Ishqia is being directed by Vishal’s first assistant. It is a dark comedy and will go on floors this September.”

The music of the film will be rendered by Vishal himself and Gulzar has penned the lyrics. He is also the creative producer on the project.

Talking about Ishqiya Vishal says, “Ishqiya is about three romantic personalities — played by Arshad, Vidya and Naseer.

We want to give the music a classical tone with a modern packaging as Vidya’s character is a classical singer.

What made those Masala films so damn good!

had originally started this post as a rant against the misconceptions, and misrepresentations against the classic 70’s Hindi Cinema we grew up watching. If I could sum up that rant in a one-liner, it would go something like this:“Films like Tashan and Om Shanti Om may claim to be odes to 70’s masala films, but all they truly amount to be are wanna be films trying to cash in on our nostalgia“.

A screenplay or script is a written plan, authored by a screenwriter, for a film or television program. Screenplays can be original works or adaptations from existing works such as novels. A screenplay differs from a script in that it is more specifically targeted at the visual, narrative arts, such as film and television, whereas a script can involve a blueprint of “what happens” in a comic, an advertisement, a theatrical play and other “blueprinted” creations.
The major components of a screenplay are action and dialogue, with the “action” being “what we see happening” and “dialogue” being “what we hear” (i.e., what the characters utter). The characters, when first introduced in the screenplay, may also be described visually. Screenplays differ from traditional literature conventions in ways described below; however, screenplays may not involve emotion-related descriptions and other aspects of the story that are, in fact, visual within the end-product.

There were two, outside the wine shop. First one was leaning on the second. Almost sexual. Then the second would grab a phone and launch into his Keshto Mukherjee moment. The two would reverse their roles 2 minutes later.

Two
Book shop. A middle age crisis lady looking to be pre-30’s is over anxious. She has found a book she seemed to be looking for, but the cover is missing.
Can I use the phone?” she asks my back quite delightfully, almost with a total belief I would say ‘Ya sure, go ahead’ with a nod of head to go with before she could blink again. Only when I gather some thoughts to turn back and blurt out the proverbial ‘I am not the shopkeeper, can’t help it if I look like one’, I see one shop assistant grinning at the lady in consent, and next moment while I am trying to decipher between two equally seemingly good books with equally seemingly good covers, she is standing next to me sharing her excitement on phone with her assumed father, all for free.

Tashan:Raste ka maal and the cheap thrill machine

Just where does the Great Disco Under the Lungi that Krishnan Iyer MA, nariyalpaniwallah sings about in all dhinchak swagger and gibberish aandu-gundu accent exist? How does one decipher the Ku-Ku-Ku-Ku that allegedly exists behind the choli? What branch of physics, meta or otherwise can explain the never-ending ammunition in Chunkey Pandey’s six-shooter as he somersaults into the villain’s den ready to blow the jaan and saans out of anybody who dares mess with him? What strange vibrations connect the heroine’s father’s nazuk dil to the chaukat that diya that goes kaput as soon as the dil collapses under so much dard?

The Vijay Krishna Acharya would like to present a hypothesis via ‘the coefficient of the linear is just a position by the haemoglobin of the atmospheric pressure in the country’. In shorthand, Tashan. Rather, The TASHAN. Hell Yeah!

Shaji Karun on Cannes and his first Hindi venture..

Shaji Karun, the famous filmmaker from Kerala is a disappointed man these days. The former Chairman of the Kerala State Chalchitra Academy rues that this year there was no official entry from India to the Cannes film festival. And that it has been happening for the past six to seven years.“They have taken films from small places like Singapore, Turkey, Vietnam and Cambodia but not India. It is because despite making 1000 films a year, we cannot produce even one film that matches international standards. They don’t say that openly to us. When I talked to them, they just said that ‘the gates are now closed’. I know what that means, because all my films get an entry there. From among 4000 entries they just take 20 films, and we don’t come remotely close to the top list. What’s the contribution of stars like Shah Rukh Khan to the world cinema? They made Aishwarya Rai represent India because a substantial part of the film festival was funded by L’Oreal and she is its brand ambassador. Do we just need cosmetics to represent us there? Aren’t they laughing at us by doing that? We can’t send good films, so they take a beautiful face from here!”

Shaji, incidentally, is currently working on an interesting project, Suryamukhi. This is his Hindi feature on the last six years of Raja Ravi Varma’s life. It stars Vidya Balan and Madhavan.
