Salman- SRK to return together…

February 6, 2008 | 2

Apparently, Sohail Khan is working on his new script which is the remake of the Tom Cruise starrer Jerry Maguire (1996) which would star his elder brother Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan. They both were last seen together in Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam. Recently, at Amrita Arora’s birthday party, Salman expressed his desire to work with Shah Rukh.

Both Shah Rukh and Salman were not in talking terms with each other after Salman barged onto the sets of Chalte Chalte to meet his ex-girlfriend Aishwarya Rai. Later, Ash was replaced by Rani Mukherjee. But when Sallu and SRK met at Farah Khan’s Sangeet ceremony, Salman hugged Shah Rukh and they buried their differences.

Infact, Sohail Khan has already submitted the proposal to UTV for remaking Jerry Maguire with Salman and Shah Rukh. Salman will play the role of Cuba Gooding Junior (who won the Oscar for Best actor in supporting role) and Shah Rukh as an ambitious sports agent.

After making their fans to wait for so long, let’s see whether the Sallu-Shah Rukh magic works again or not.

Salman ignores viviek

August 13, 2007 | 9

the weekend. We reproduce it here, with kind permission from Mid-Day.13look6 Salman ignores viviek

Salman Khan can neither forget nor forgive people, who he believes have wronged him in the past. And that’s specially true for Vivek Oberoi.

At the 10th Rajiv Gandhi Awards function held at the Jamshed Bhabha Theatre, NCPA, last night, Vivek was on stage, and had just finished performing to Beedi Jalaile with Koena Mitra [Images], when on his way out, he stopped before Salman (seated on the front row) and suddenly, without warning, put his hands together and bowed before him.

Says Vijay Kalantri, chairman of the reception committee of the awards, seated next to Salman, “Vivek grabbed his (own) ears and bowed and mouthed ‘bhai’. But Salman just shook his head.”

Bipasha to do an item nuber for john’s film

July 10, 2007 | 1

Bipasha Basu will make a single song appearance in the John Abraham starrer No Smoking .

‘Beedi Jalaile’ and ‘Namak Isq Ka’ showed that Bipasha could gyrate to item numbers. Now, producer Kumar Mangat and composer Vishal Bharadwaj have roped in Bipasha once again to show her gyrations in Anurag Kashyap’s forthcoming movie ‘No Smoking’.

The interesting bit is that Kashyap had previously approached Bipasha to play the female lead opposite John Abraham in the film. While Bipasha couldn’t do the role then, she has now agreed to dance to an item number in the film.

Reports have it that Kashyap had previously thought of shooting the song on model Jesse Randhawa . Now, it is Bipasha who will play the oomph belle in the item.

The song will be shot in the coming weeks.

No cold war between Abhishek and Vivek

No cold war between Abhishek and Vivek
04th July 2007 21.39 IST
By ApunKaChoice

Contrary to the latest speculation in tinsel town, there are no bad vibes between Abhishek Bachchan and Vivek Oberoi .

Of late, rumours have been afloat that Abhishek has some reservations about working with Vivek in Sunil Shetty’s production venture Mission Istanbul which will be directed by Apoorva Lakhia .

The movie will have a huge star cast that includes Vivek, Abhishek, Bobby Deol and Tusshar Kapoor along with a number of heroines who are yet to be finalized.

However, gossip has been going around that Abhi, who is married to Aishwarya Rai , does not want to work with Vivek, her former beau.

Abhi will not work with Viveik

Abhi will not work with Viveik!

Here is some bad news for all those who were waiting to see Abhishek Bachchan and Viveik Oberoi together in a film. Producer Apoorva Lakhia’s attempts to sign up them for his next film titled Mission to Istanbul have come a cropper because of abhi’s refusal.

Apoorva just cannot make a film without one of the Bachchan’s being in it. So Abhishek Bachchan, a dear friend, was an automatic choice for the film that features four heroes.

After two successive flops, Mumbai Se Aaya Mera Dost (2003) and Ek Ajnabee (2005) Apoorva hit pay dirt with Shootout at Lokhandwala. He attributes the success of the film to Viveik Oberoi, whom he now considers as his lucky mascot.

Consequently, Viveik too was an automatic choice for a lead role.

Exclusive Review Awaarapan

June 28, 2007 | 11

Awaarapan
28 Jun, 2007 10:34 am ISTlRENUKA VYAVAHARE/INDIATIMES MOVIES

/photo.cms?msid=2155785 Cast: Emraan Hashmi, Shreya Saran, Mrinalini Sharma, Rehan Khan
Director: Mohit Suri
Producer: Mahesh Bhatt/Mukesh Bhatt
Genre: Drama/Action
Rating: ** ½

I have never been an Emraan Hashmi fan but have to say this, after watching Awaarapan, I would be a fool not to praise the actor for giving such a power-packed performance in a film which doesn’t really have the potential to appeal to the masses, all thanks to a bland story line coupled with mediocre dialogues. In spite of the multiple drawbacks in the film, Hashmi holds on to his own and delivers the finest performance of his career.

/photo.cms?msid=2156151 The Bhatt camp is known for providing us with unique cinema and that’s what they do here as well, but unfortunately director Mohit’s idea of expanding an incident in the life of a man into an entire two hour film falls flat.

Shivam (Emraan) is an atheist henchman of Mallik (Ashutosh Rana), a rich hotelier cum businessman involved in flesh trade and many such illegitimate activities in Hong Kong. Shivam follows Mallik’s orders blindly. He kills people if necessary, runs Mallik’s hotel, keeps an eye on his mistress and in no time becomes his confidante. But this strong bond between the two develops crack when Shivam is assigned the job of killing Mallik’s Pakistani mistress (Mrinalini Sharma, extremely ordinary). The entire film then shows what is it that makes it impossible for a cold blooded shooter like Shivam to accomplish his gangster boss’ ‘kill my mistress’ request…

Harman Baweja signs Boney kapoor’s film

Harman Baweja signs Boney Kapoor’s Film Click here to add this article to My Clips
By Subhash K. Jha, June 25, 2007 – 08:20 IST
Among the most promising newcomers of 2007, Harman Baweja and Ranbir Kapoor surely lead the bright pack.

As of now Harman seems to have an edge. Those who have seen the rushes of his debut film Love Story 2050 swear the Baweja boy dances like a dream and is also a competent and confident actor.

Boney Kapoor certainly thinks so. Beating Tips and several other production houses who have rushed forward to sign Harman, Boney has got Baweja to do a South Indian remake (yet another South-conversion Boney special!).

Says Harman, “The minute I heard the script I decided this untitled South remake would be my second film. It’s an extremely interesting script. And any leading man would give his left hand to be in it.”

Bachchan Aims higher to raise $200 Million

June 21, 2007 |

MUMBAI: Once again, Amitabh Bachchan is ready to test the strength of his brand in the financial market. This time, he is aiming higher. AB Corp — the new, revived company of the erstwhile ABCL, relaunched with much fanfare in 2003 — is exploring the possibility to list on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM), which is the sub-market of the London Stock Exchange.

According to a source in the city banking circles, AB Corp is looking at raising approximately $200 million. The funds will primarily be used for the expansion of the new corporate entity.

Listing at AIM has caught on among local media players with firms like Eros International, UTV, Indian Film Company (a unit of TV18) having so far collectively raised more than $300 million.

But why is Bollywood rushing to London and AIM? Disclosure and listing norms at AIM are less stringent than the bigger bourses, and entertainment firms perceive that they will fetch a higher valuation at AIM than on the Indian bourses.

Shah Rukh Khan may work with Abbas-Mastan

June 21, 2007 | 7

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan may again work with Abbas-Mastan – the director duo who placed him on the pedestal of superstardom.

In 1993, director brothers Abbas-Mastan made ‘Baazigar’ with SRK, who was yet to establish his stronghold in Bollywood.

The film went on to become a hit and its villain became Indian cinema’s hero, who stuttered, romanced and drank his way to 70 mm fame and even ended up as a wax figure at Madame Tussauds.

In 1999, Abbas-Mastan again directed SRK in Baadshah , but the film didn’t do well at the box-office.

Fool N final (india FM Review)

June 1, 2007 | 2

By Taran Adarsh, June 1, 2007 – 01:00 IST

Some rules you need to follow before you embark on a journey called FOOL & FINAL…
One, don’t wear your thinking caps. Here’s why: The film defies logic.
Two, don’t ask questions. Here’s why: It’s all about entertainment, not enlightenment. Three, don’t look for answers. Here’s why: The motive is to keep you in splits.

FOOL & FINAL is all about transporting you to a world of make-believe. The sole intention is to offer you loads of entertainment in those 17 reels / 2.20 hours.

But, wait, there’s a hitch…

Write your own movie review of Fool n Final
The execution of the material is done most stylishly, it’s akin to watching a comic book on screen. But the effort falls flat since there’s no script in the first place. The film packs in too many characters and too many incidents in those 17 reels. No issues with that, but director Ahmed Khan and his team of writers [Umesh Shukla, Abbas Hierapurwala] should’ve mixed, merged and unified the assorted characters and incidents skillfully so that the entire experience would be worth cherishing. Unfortunately, what happens here is that you root for a few individualistic sequences only, not the film in entirety.
