salmankhandabangg Salman Khan: I May Be In Court On My Birthday Salman Khan isn’t the sorts to mince matters. It’s always either black or white for him and may be that’s just why he doesn’t hesitate in speaking his heart out. As the second installment of his super successful blockbuster Dabangg comes close to its release, the notorious Khan of the film industry gets chatty about considering 100cr an achievable target, plans for the third part of Dabangg, choosing action films to stay fit and the possibility of being summoned by the court for his hit and run case on this birthday! Excerpts:

People are already touting this film to touch 300crs. Your thoughts.

People nowadays speak of 300crs as if it’s nothing. First let somebody comfortably touch 200, it’s not even easy to touch 100 crores for some. There is increase in the number of fan following, increase in theaters, increase in ticket prices so business has to happen.

One thing is for sure that in our life time itself it will be 300, 400 and 500 crores. But has touching at least a 100cr mark become a regular mundane process for you as all your films at least make that much?

December 14, 2012 |
There are Class Film, there are Mass Film and there are Salman Film. Ask any Exhibitor or Distributor about Salman Khanand they will say these words unanimously. He is a phenomenon and this phenomenon creates mass hysteria at the box officewhenever his film releases. The man is synonymous to box office records from Maine Pyar Kiya and Hum Aapke Hain Kaun days.

With court cases and mediocre projects after year 2005  his stock at the box office was in doldrums. Then happened Wanted in 2009 and rest is history. He who started the single screen craze which was near about shut down.

Q. Looking at business of Jab Tak Hai Jaan, Talaash, Khiladi 786, etc does it not make Ra.One look very good and at time it was trashed much more than these films?

A. In hindsight, the Ra.One 115 crore number looks good but this year the growth in business has been huge, just the films have not been good enough to show the growth. Dabangg 2 should change that though

Khiladi 786 First Day Business

Boxofficeindia.Com Trade Network

Khiladi 786 was below the mark on day one collecting around 8.75 crore nett on day one. The film did well in pockets but overall collections were below the mark. The film was totally let down by Delhi and  East Punjab as these areas did awful business. East Punjab at around 62 lakhs is like a washout for such a film and Delhi/UP at 1.6 crore is also very bad despite UP cities having fair collections.

logo Dabangg2 Official Preview Synopsis

Dabangg 2 is a continuation of the amazing exploits of Chulbul ‘Robin Hood’ Pandey played by Salman Khan.
The notable facets of the character include his nonchalance, his wry sense of humor and his tongue-in-cheek dialogues.

In the first film, Chulbul was pitted against Chedi Singh a local goon. And Chedi Singh had killed Chulbul’s mother Naina Devi (Dimple Kapadia).

Thus his family now consists of his stepfather Prajapati Pandey (Vinod Khanna), his younger half-brother, Makhanchan “Makkhi” Pandey (Arbaaz Khan), Makkhi’s wife Nirmala (Mahi Gill). And his wife Rajjo (Sonakshi Sinha).

This film begins with Chulbul moving on from being a local inspector in a small town Laalganj to becoming an Inspector-in-charge of Bajariya Thana, a police station in Kanpur, the largest and most populous city in Uttar Pradesh.

Untitled48 Writer the one who created iconic chulbul pandey Dilip Shukla Interview about Dabangg2 The iconic character of Chulbul Pandey, the whistle-inducing dialogues, the crackling romantic moments — these are the elements that made Dabangg memorable! Writer Dileep Shukla talks about what will make Dabangg 2 unforgettable…

by Sonia Chopra

In Dabangg, you had already established characters…What happens now?

We’ve taken the story forward from where Dabangg ended. Chulbul and Rajjo, now a married couple, move to Kanpur. They are in a big city now, and Chulbul encounters bigger goons. He now fights-off three brothers who team up against him. The relationships in the family go through a change…The mother is no more, and the brothers are married. There was a problem between father son and between brothers, but that’s ironed out in the sequel. There’s still light-hearted ribbing among them, but no enmity.
