It’s been three days since Ek Tha Tiger released, and Salman Khan’s latest action film is already breaking all records.
Basking in the glory, but not showing it at all, the man takes some time off to talk about the Salman mania. In fact, he insists it’s nothing but a fad which will vanish in no time!
State of mind
Usually, when a film is a success, you’d be upset and unhappy, right? (Laughs) I am just joking. I feel happy and content. I’m glad people are going to watch the film and like what they see.
If the fans come in, the numbers follow. If people like the movie, the numbers will go up. So I don’t concentrate on numbers, I focus on the film instead. Agar aap sirf numbers pe jaaoge, toh phir main cheez bhool jaaoge (If you only think about numbers, you will forget the main thing). Think about the subject and not the marketing of the subject.
Mumbai: The King and the Queen are in their places, but looks like the Joker has gone into hiding. Even with a superhit jodi like Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha in the lead, close on the heels of their last Rs 150 crore blockbuster ‘Rowdy Rathore’, it appears that no one wants to make hay while the sun is shining.
Just 15 days left to promote the film, surprisingly, most of the members of Shirish Kunder’s cast and crew other than the aliens are too busy with other professional commitments.
Who’s busy doing what
Farah Khan and Shirish Kunder happy after ‘Joker’ cleared by Censor board without any cuts
|Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha’s second film together, Joker, has been cleared by the Indian censor board without any cuts.
The film, slated to release on August 31, tells the story of an NRI couple (played by Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha) who try to bring a forgotten and neglected village back into the reckoning by an ingenious hoax. The film is set in a village and looks to be a wholesome family entertainer, a fact confirmed by Farah Khan and Shirish Kunder.
This film will create history. SalmanKhan has always delivered a blockbuster performance. First-daycollections willbe around Rs 28 crore, with weekend collections crossing Rs 60 crore. Its lifetime business will be at leastRs 150 crore. This film will be huge.
Only 5 Stars till date have had back to back top grossers of year, with Amitabh Bachchan having 3 back to back top grossers of year from 1977-79. Salman Khan can also do this if one of Ek Tha Tiger or Dabangg 2 ends up highest grossing movie of 2012…(Chances are very high).

The actor starts shooting for his next home production, Boss, on Amitabh Bachchan’s birthday to pay tribute to the veteran.
Just as Amitabh Bachchan turns 70 on October 11, Akshay Kumar will start the shooting of his next home production Boss. It’s Akshay’s way of honouring the Big B. In Boss, Akshay plays a kind-hearted gangster, much like Amitabh’s role in Agneepath.
Says the source, “This is Akshay’s way of paying his respects to Amitabh. It also happens to be the birthdays of the director Tony d’Souza and of the film’s other male lead actor, Ronit.”
1. Its a Exhibition based model :
Exhibition based model means that it only cares for how much the movie has made at the Boxoffice theatrically. It doesn’t take parameters like budget, expectations, hype, promotions etc into account.
2. Multiplex share vs Single Screen share :
Approximate All India Multiplex ticket rate is 125 rs and Single Screen ticket price is around 60 rs. Due to this disparity and also the fact the Multiplex owners probably spend a lot more to exhibit a single show of a movie compared to single screen owners leads to this point.(ie they might not actually earn good profits unless a movie performs upto certain standards for them).
Multiplex Ticket Price = 125 rs (Gross)
Going forward we will be analyzing one more parameter of BO performance, Share Per Print. Here is Chart for the major grossers/successes of 2011.
Average Share Per Print for the following movies came to around 2.0 Lakhs per Print.
