  • Akshay Kumar and his box-office success

Among his contemporaries, Akshay Kumar is the only actor who made it on his own, without the help of any ‘godfather’. It’s worth mentioning that except Akki, all the top stars of today kicked off their careers with superhits, winning Filmfare Award for Best Male Debutant each – Aamir Khan (Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak – 1988); Salman Khan (Maine Pyar Kiya – 1989); Ajay Devgn (Phool Aur Kaante – 1991); Shahrukh Khan (Deewana – 1992); Hrithik Roshan (Kaho Na Pyaar Hai – 2000). Moreover, Hrithik also won the Filmfare Award for Best Actor for his debut film. On the contrary, Akshay’s debut film Saugandh (1991) was a box office dud and he had to wait till his 4th film to get his first success in

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY: Akshay Kumar gets candid about everything!

Had this interview been conducted face-to-face, action superstar Akshay Kumar in all likelihood would have retorted, “Don’t angry me!” to certain questions. But since it was on email (he was in Muscat for a shoot), he merely excused himself from queries regarding his friends Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan.   Fair enough! After all, today is Akshay Kumar’s birthday. Rowdy Rathore has smashed box office records. He has completed 23 years in the industry with 100 films. And most importantly, he returns to his khiladi avatar after 12 years in Khiladi 786. So there’s plenty for him to talk about — himself, for instance, and his career.

  • Nobody knows me, everyone knows Kane

Glenn Thomas Jacobs seems to be a fairly regular guy, a little on the beefy side and a tad too tall compared to the average Indian male. He loves food, especially the spicy Indian variety, and loves working out. He’s your typical average American bloke. Except that he isn’t. Meet Kane, professional WWE wrestler and aspiring Bollywood chocolate boy if it’s a musical with a song and dance sequence. And when a hefty, almost 7ft giant tells you he wants to dance – that’s when you’re rendered speechless… my size doesn’t intimidate people When I go out, people know I’m Kane. They come and say ‘hi’. They meet Kane, not Glenn. It’s very gratifying. People aren’t intimidated by my size. They walk up to me with

  • It’s action over talk for Akshay Kumar!

Actor Akshay Kumar’s latest release Joker may be nothing to write home about, but the actor, unfazed by the response, is already busy gearing up for his next release. And according to insiders, his upcoming film, Oh My God is special to the actor for more than one reason. “The film is Akshay’s production, so naturally he is very excited about it, but it is also special to him as he feels that the film will have a strong connect with the audience,” says the source. The actor, who has been juggling between the film and the shooting of his action outing Khiladi 786, will apparently now only focus on OMG. Actor Paresh Rawal plays the protagonist in the film. Akshay, who will be seen playing Lord Krishna in the film

  • “Results would speak for Joker” – Shirish Kunder

By Joginder Tuteja, Aug 25, 2012 – 01:40 IST Though sci-fi film in a village setting seemed rather unimaginable for most in the industry, Akshay Kumar, who had worked with Shirish Kunder in his debut filmJaan-E-Mann, felt that Joker had enough ingredients to intrigue the audience. Though the film has taken a year and a half to reach the finishing line, insiders assure that the wait would be worth it. “See, there are two kinds of films that can be made. First is when a film is wrapped up so fast that everyone is happy ki chalo khatam ho gayi, ab jaldi se release karte hain. And then there is a film like Joker where you know that the subject and genre by itself is so intricate that it would

  • INTRODUCING: ‘REMAKE RAJA’

MUMBAI, Aug. 23 — A few days ago, HT Cafe reported that Akshay Kumar would be playing the lead in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s remake of the Tamil hit, Ramana (2002). Now it’s confirmed that popular south director, M Raja, is set to helm the yet-untitled Hindi version. After teaming up with Prabhudheva for Rowdy Rathore, this is the second time Akki will work with a south Indian director. A source tells us, “It was Bhansali who suggested Raja’s name. When he discussed it with Akshay, the latter was more than happy, because he is aware of Raja’s super-hit record. • Shirish is ready to amaze Akshay Kumar with JOKER

By Joginder Tuteja, Glamsham Editorial Since JOKER was largely shot in chroma with space being made for VFX being added during the post-production, it actually required a lot of scenes where actors had to shoot with non-existent entities. No wonder, at times even Akshay Kumar, who has been in the business of making movies for over two decades, used to wonder how the final product would look like.   “I actually enjoy it when an actor is left with so many questions because I know that when the final product would be out, he would be amazed,” smiles Shirish Kunder, the film’s director, “I remember that happening to Akshay when he was amazed at the space shuttle sequence at the beginning of JAAN-E-MANN. When we
