Ek Tha Tiger started like a hurricane and had a big fall on day two which was expected due to the huge collections on day one but it seems the downward trend is continuing on Friday.
The film should have consolidated on Friday and have similar collections in the 14-15 crore nett range but it seems a fall is on the cards as collections coming in at places are 20% lower than Thursday so a Friday fall is certain even if other places hold up better.
It could be the Ramadan period that is taking a toll on collections or it could be that the film does not have public appreciation that the last few Salman Khan starrers have had.
Satyamev Jayate , “Highest ever viewings” and unreliable/fake TAM rating[Updated:TAM Mafia exposed, further consolidating the fact:SATYAMEV JAYATE is all time greatest]August 1, 2012 | Delight44 95
[Latest addition :TAM mafia rules the roost in AP]
The Central Government made digitalization of TV transmission compulsory in Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai from July next year, and within next 2 years in the rest of the cities. Then the viewership will be recorded in the set-top box and calculated in the centalised system. This might end the dirty games of the TAM mafia and give genuine channels their due.
It must be flattering for our superstars when their on-screen antics inspire the real-life actions of their admirers. But here’s an instance that could make any celebrity cringe. Inspired by a one-liner from his screen idol’s hit film ‘Wanted’, a devoted fan of Salman Khan killed and robbed a courier firm employee to honour his promise of repaying a loan.
When asked by cops why he resorted to murder, he quoted the line from Khan’s blockbuster ‘Wanted’: ‘Maine jo ek baar commitment kar dee toh phir main apne aap ki bhi nahin sunta’.
Talha Mohammed Munaf Ansari (29), a resident of Madanpura, Nagpada, was arrested by Unit II of Crime Branch on June 20, for the murder of Jeetu Sadarangani alias Govind (22), an employee of Mamaji Courier Cargo. The ardent admirer of Khan had even met the object of his worship on the sets of ‘Dabangg’, where he wangled a photograph with the screen idol.
Along with SRK-YRF next, Son of Sardar[for which we all are waiting with bated breath] , now we have 1 more Diwali treat :EEGA
The Telugu maverick director S S Rajmouli releases his Telugu smasher Eega in a Hindi, 3D version done specially for the Hindi release around Diwali.
It seems that one wrong that he committed eons ago has held on to actor Salman Khan’s neck like an albatross leaving no room for him to live in peace.
News has it that the star might have to face a jail term once again for the black-buck shooting case which charged him along with his co-stars like Tabu, Neelam, Sonali Bendre, and Saif Ali Khan during their ‘Hum Saath Saath Hain’ shooting days.
Now that the case is being examined by the Rajasthan High Court, sources have reported that the stars who were involved (especially Salman) will be held under Section 51 of Wildlife Act and section 149 of the IPC. Sadly, the fact is that Section 51 of the wildlife Act includes a three year jail term!
Mumbai: After a very successful launch, Satyamev Jayate has continued its momentum into week 2. The show has delivered a historic reach of 27.8 crore people reached over the first 2 episodes aired in India. As per the TAM data for week 20, Satyamev Jayate rated a 4.4 TVR in HSM markets (All 4+, HSM) and a national TVR of 3.7 (All 4+, All India). These are simulcast ratings of the original episode aired on Sunday morning 11 am across 9 channels (Star Plus, Star Pravah, Star Jalsha, Star World, Star Utsav, Star Vijay, Asianet, ETV Telegu and Doordarshan).
The combined viewership over the first 2 weeks crossed 8.2 crores as per the TAM universe (Original + repeat airings). This figure when extrapolated to All India Universe, as per industry conversions, means that the show has reached out to 27.8 crore Indians since its launch. This demonstrates that the Sunday morning slot has been galvanised as a reach aggregator!
Star India’s biggest programming property of the year and Aamir Khan’s debut TV show Satyamev Jayate has made an impact, energising the Sunday morning slot.
The one-and-a-half-hour first episode on female foeticide, telecast at 11 am, opened with an aggregate rating of 4.09 across the country for viewers above four years and reached out to 27 million viewers.
The TAM data is for the entire Indian market, including cable and terrestrial homes where Doordarshan beams. Satyamev Jayate airs on seven Star network channels, ETV Telugu and pubcaster Doordarshan.
The show recorded a rating of 4 in the Hindi speaking market of C&S homes, according to TAM.

Aamir Khan -4
It’s not easy to get the kind of response Aamir Khan’s show ‘Satyamev Jayate’ is receiving. The TV show has generated a lot of enthusiasm towards the issue of female foeticide. The first episode of ‘Satyamev Jayate’ had featured some alarming stats about the mindset of the society towards different sexes.
However, some of the states have shown the will to change the mindset as an after-effect of ‘Satyamev Jayate’. Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot met Aamir Khan to discuss the possible strategies to combat the issue of female foeticide. The Chief Minister was compelled to call an emergency meeting to formulise a plan against the deteriorating sex ration in some parts of Rajasthan. ‘Satyamev Jayate’ had invited two journalists who had done remarkable work in exposing the racket of sex determination in Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
Rajasthan Government took one more step to curb the problem. Chief Justice of the Rajasthan High Court Arun Mishra has given green signal to set up a fast track court for expediting trial in the female foeticide cases.
Jaipur: The Rajasthan government would formulate a policy to make people aware of the importance and value of girls and setting direction for future course of action, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said here on Friday.
Gehlot said that he has asked the principal secretary (medical) to prepare the girls policy. “The policy which will set direction for future and reflect the vision of the government about girls,” Gehlot said.
He was addressing a workshop organised by the medical and health department with NGO representatives to discuss issues like sex ratio, female foeticide among others.
Gehlot appreciated Aamir Khan’s serial Satyamev Jayate and said that he has raised a very serious issue and everybody should take benefit from the positive campaign.
Final words about TRPs for those who worship at the alter of goddess TRP MATA, and those passionate KTLK fan like you who may wonder why KTLK is not getting the TRP it deserves. So please read it carefully because I am not going to answer it again and again. My first encounter with TRP was when I joined Zee TV as its Vice President, Programming in 1992. I was doing well in advertising(I was the most awarded writer) and was moonlighting as screenwriter in movies and had already written ‘Tezab’, ‘Dil’, ‘Beta’, ‘Saudagar’, ‘Khalnayak’, etc. But I wanted to romance this hot new medium called television(there is another story why, but that would be digression). Simply because I consider television more powerful than cinema because it is addictive and repetitive and can change mindsets if it is done well(as the saying goes, television is a medium, neither rare, nor well done!)My friend Alec Padamsi from advertising and Shekhar Kapur from movies advised me against it, telling me why do I want to quit two professions where I was at the top to join something which has no future? Who would watch satellite TV in a country where Doordarshan is free to air and covers 70% of the country. But I wanted to check out this new hot bird Television so I took the job offered by my friend Subhash Chandra as a challenge. I designed and defined Zee TV, India’s first Hindi satellite channel(yes, I was one of the founder members of Zee TV and Indian’s first Head of Programming!) and consequently made it the fastest growing channel in history(many of you may have been kids at that time). In ratings, (TRP) 9 out of 10 shows were Zee TV shows(if you remember ‘Tara’, ‘Banegi Apni Baat’, ‘Campus’, ‘Antakshari’, etc.). The only exception was Ramanand Sagar’s ‘Krishna’ which was on Doordarshan. But I was not very sure whether TRP is the right measurement of a show’s popularity.
What TRP is and what it can do, for that, please check out a classic Hollywood film ‘Network’ made back in 80′s.
It[Network) is about satellite networks and their obsession with TRPs and the story of a man who got killed because of lousy TRPs.
So back to the world of TRPs. How is the TRP measured? TAM sets TAM meters in a few households which are kept on when those families watch television. And whatever is their watching pattern is recorded on the TAM meters and that decides the TRP! Now how many households have been given these TAM meters? In a country of 1.2 billion, only 10,000! Yes, just 10,000!So my friend, 10,000 households decide what a country of 1.2 billion should be watching or not watching. 70% of Indian houselhods who do not have access to satellite, are out of TRP meters. That leaves 40 crores viewers. So theoretically, 10,000 viewers decided what India should be watching. But who are these 10,000 households? What is their background, what is their educational qualification, what kind of people they are, what is their sensibility and sensitivity? I have no idea. Maybe only the TAM people have.
As well as making a huge splash in India, Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan has managed to do the same in the UK with his debut TV show ‘Satyamev Jayate’.
The broadcaster, Star Plus managed to beat all paid mainstream TV rivals in the Sunday morning 11:00 – 12:30 slot when the show debuted on Sunday 5th May.
In that time slot, Star Plus was the most watched paid TV channel in the UK thrashing the likes of Sky1, Sky Sports, Dave and Yesterday.
According to data released by BARB/ InfoSys (All Inds, 11:00 – 12:30) consolidated data as of today (10th May) put Star Plus in the lead with a rating of 210.2907. Dave was next with 167.4143, Sky Sports 1 was also in the chart with ‘Soccer AM’ – 137.2015 and Sky1 following with 93.9004.
Satyamev Jayate will have the highest TRPs in television history and highest GRPs for a single episode of a show ever.May 10, 2012 | Delight44 2
It is quite likely that the show will have the highest TRPs in television history and highest GRPs for a single episode of a show ever. A new benchmark will have been set by the time the ratings come out next week. Indiantelevision.com estimates that close to 70-80 GRPs will be generated by the show across languages.
These GRPs are very very valuable for they will open up a time slot for advertisers and broadcasters on Sunday morning, one which has been moribund for around 20 years.
The show is noteworthy for one point. Star TV head honcho Uday Shankar – a former journalist – does want to use it to try and make it an instrument of change in Indian society. At least make an attempt to weed out evils which have been plaguing hapless common Indians for decades. And it is using various media outlets to get the message of Satyameva Jayate out: TV, print, Internet, social media, public interactions, and what have you.
Main samay hoon…. Announcer Harish Bhimani’s bass voice set against the silhouette of the gently spinning wheel of time was a fixture at almost every Indian home during the serialization of one of the most dramatic Indian epics during the fall-summer seasons of 1988-1990.
Bhimani, as the narrator of Mahabharata and the voice of time, signalled the start of every eagerly awaited episode on Sunday mornings when families gathered around their television sets to lose themselves in the world of princely feuds and political power games.
Aamir Khan’s pilot episode of TV show Satyamev Jayate has replaced the Sunday morning slot once dominated by the epics Mahabharata and Ramayana on DD National. The BR Chopra produced Mahabharata, better packaged than its predecessor Ramayana in the mid 80s, once united India better than any political or social campaign could.
Satyamev Jayate impacts govt. Women & Child Dev Minister Krishna Tirath promises action, commends AamirMay 10, 2012 | Delight44 1
Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Women and Child Development Krishna Tirath has appreciated Star Plus’s multi-channel Satyamev Jayate describing it as a commendable effort.
“Satyamev Jayate is a commendable effort by Aamir Khan and it deserves appreciation. We have taken note of the issue of female foeticide raised in the first episode,” Ms Tirath told MxMIndia in an exclusive chat.
Satyamev Jayate isn’t just two words strung together. In tandem, they are a huge responsibility; big enough for an entire nation or someone truly great like Mahatma Gandhi to be associated with. And in these uncertain times, when ethics are acquiring a twisted new form, Satyamev Jayate is an even bigger burden to assume and carry.
Truth, after all, is not absolute. There are many shades of truth; and it may be presumptuous of an ordinary man to sit in judgment and decide as to which of these many shades of truth is worthy of recommendation to an entire nation. These are tremendous odds and Aamir Khan will be constantly under a critical lens; but he seems to have decided to plunge in.
Objectively speaking, it must be admitted that he has hit the ground running. He had many easier options of course. Other actors have used the small screen commercially; either to prop up a fading movie career or to benefit from the substantial revenues that the small screen now generates. These easy on eye and mind series are sufficiently fluffy to get good revenues for the sponsoring channel. Aamir could have easily fitted such a TV series into his schedule without applying himself to the task seriously. He has the elan and a large enough fan following to have pulled it off successfully. Wisely, he chose not to go for the easy option; as a socially committed artist, he has to do things differently.
JAIPUR: Buoyed by the presence of actor Aamir Khan who visited the city on Wednesday to plead for speedy trial of female foeticide cases in the state, the district administration swung into action and suspended licences of five sonography centres here.
Taking stern action against the centres which were found violating the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal and Diagnostic (PCPNDT) Act 1994, which prevent sex determination and female feticide, the district administration also seized records of the five sonography centres.
“These centres were found violating the PCPNDT Act. Those hospitals and sonography centres violating the Act will not be spared. More action through surprise raids will be conducted in next few days by the district administration,” district collector Navin Mahajan said.
The centres which faced action are RN Diagnostics Centre and Shefali Hospital in Vidhyadhar Nagar, Soma Maternity and Child hospital in Khatipura, Lifeline in Brahmpuri, Dr Yasmeen Syed Clinic in Ramganj Bazaar.
Bhopal: It seems that Aamir Khan’s show ‘Satyamev Jayate’ is beginning to show its impact. The district administration had on Wednesday suspended licenses of 69 nursing homes to conduct medical termination of pregnancy and pre-natal diagnostic tests like sonography.
However, five of these nursing homes have complied with the directions and the licenses have been reinstated. But, the licenses of 64 such nursing homes now stand suspended. They were suspended for not filing mandatory monthly report for April under MPT Act.
The prescribed proforma under the MTP Act requires every such nursing home to clearly mention number of the terminated pregnancies.
Aamir Khan in his programme ‘Satyamev Jayate’ aired on Sunday had highlighted the story of a sting operation done seven years back by two journalists to expose increasing female foeticide cases in four states – Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh

Following the expose, the Rajasthan government had come down heavily on doctors who were involved in sex determination tests and abortions and started a probe against them. However, the doctors since then have either been promoted or have been cleared of the charges.
Aamir said in his show that he would appeal to the Rajasthan chief minister to get the cases against the doctors clubbed together and tried in a fast track court and appealed to viewers to support his signature campaign.
“Aamir has expressed his desire to meet the chief minister on May 9. The chief minister’s office is looking at the CM’s schedule on that day. Chances are high that he (Gehlot) would meet him,” said a senior official in the chief minister’s office.
Bollywood star Aamir Khan and lyricist Prasoon Joshi are quite a team by now. They are working on their pet project on social awareness – films on malnutrition – and the writer says that they connect because they do not compromise on their principles.
“Aamir and I have been invited by the prime minister of India to make campaign films against malnutrition. It`s a project very close to our hearts. Every second child in India is malnourished. Aamir and I are doing 50 short films together on malnutrition,” said Prasoon.
Aamir-Prasoon are participating in the awareness campaign along with a core group which includes the Citizens` Alliance against Malnutrition, the United Nations Children`s Fund. The group is working with the government to design, produce and launch a campaign to alert and educate people. According to data in a hunger and malnutrition report, underweight children under five years at 42 percent.
