Anurag’s Phantom Films will be co-producing the film with Fox Star Studios.

“We are delighted to partner with Anurag Kashyap on his next directorial venture ‘Bombay Velvet’. What will make this cinematic journey unique will be the presence of Ranbir and Anushka as the lead protagonists,” Vijay Singh, CEO of Fox Star Studios said in a statement.

Perfect release date for Hrithik-Katrina’s Bang Bang

April 19, 2013 | 4

In an official statement released to the media, Fox Star Studios announced the release date of Hrithik Roshan’s Bang Bang. The action entertainer is slated for worldwide release on May 1st 2014.
We think, the makers couldn’t have chosen a better date to release their film. Here’s why.

Holiday release: When you have two of the biggest superstars in the business Hrithik – Katrina in a commercial action film, and release it on a National holiday, except all opening records to be shattered. ‘Bang Bang’ will have a 4 day extended weekend, much like Agneepath last year.

Perfect gap between three Hrithik starrers: Krrish 3 releases on Nov 3 2013 and exactly a year later Karan Malhotra’s Shuddhi is scheduled to release during Diwali 2014 (October 23rd). ‘Bang Bang’ arrives bang in between, 6 months after Krrish 3 and 6 months prior to Shuddhi.

IPL Season: Very few big-budget films release during the IPL season and for good reason, as business for the evening shows on Saturday and Sunday tend to get affected. But since ‘Bang Bang’ releases a month into the IPL season, cricket fatigue would have begun to set in and the audience would be itching to watch a commercial entertainer.

‘Indians will be proud to see Krrish 3′

Henna Rakheja, April 10, 2013

Rakesh Roshan also plans 4 animated sequels featuring his superhero

A man who is known to push the envelope and extend the boundaries of filmmaking, Rakesh Roshan has done it again by announcing four animated sequels based on his mega-budget movie Krrish.

In a chat with Metrolife, he says: “I?have always planned new strategies to promote my films. The animated films are part of my strategy. They will extend the brand value of Krrish and revive memories of my first movie in the series, Koi Mil Gaya.
The last film released six years ago and a lot of kids were not even born then. Animation works very well with kids.” His production house Film Kraft Productions has partnered with Turner Broadcasting Systems and Toonz Animation to create the four animated sequels.

“The animation will be based on the life of 11-year-old Krrish who is unaware of his powers. It will have stories of how he helps his friends,” he says, explaining that the animated movies will act as a launch pad for Krrish 3, which is slated for release during Diwali, this year.

Filmmaker Rakesh Roshan’s Filmkraft Productions has partnered with Turner International India and Kerala-headquartered Toonz Animation to create four animated movies based on the Bollywood movie “Krrish”.
The movies will be created between 2013 and 2014, the first of which titled “Kid Krrish” will be aired on Turner International India-owned Cartoon Network July 14 this year, said an official release from Toonz Animation.

The official announcement of the project will be made in Mumbai Monday, it added.

Hrithik Roshan replaces Vivek Oberoi in Shekhar Kapur’s Paani?

Director Shekhar Kapur has reportedly zeroed in on Hrithik Roshan to play the lead in his most ambitious project Paani. Apparently, the actor has been talking about bagging the project, which was first announced 12 years ago, quite openly at the ongoing Marrakech Film Festival in Morocco.

According to a source: “Now that Shekhar (Kapur) has finally found a producer in Aditya Chopra, looks like things are falling into place. Earlier, the director was often rebuked as to who would want to see a project like Paani!”

The film that will apparently have a budget of $ 30 million is said to star an Indian actor and an overseas heroine.

A source from Morocco said: “Hrithik is openly discussing the film with others. He is obviously excited to get the project. Ranbir Kapoor was also being considered for the role. Guess his packed diary didn’t permit him free dates to say yes to Shekhar (Kapur).”

Hrithik raises the bar to 30cr and create history

Hrithik raises the bar to 30cr
Becomes the first actor to charge the amount upfront, and gets it for Siddharth Anand’s remake of Knight And Day

Posted On Saturday, November 24, 2012 at 02:27:34 AM

Hrithik Roshan has done it again. He has hiked his fee for the second time in six years. And this time, the jump is as much as 50 per cent. In 2006, the actor had hiked his fee by 21 per cent. While you do the math, let’s sum it up for you. Hrithik has reportedly charged a jaw-dropping amount of Rs 30 crore from Fox Star Studios, the producers of his next Siddharth Anand directorial – the official remake of Hollywood hit Knight And Day starring Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz

And this is the highest amount any actor has charged up front till date. The last time any star came close to this was Salman Khan, who charged Rs 27 crore for Ek Tha Tiger. Apparently, the actor who is currently completing his home production Krrish 3 with director daddy Rakesh, took the decision after the runaway success of Agneepath earlier this year. Though the production house and Hrithik chose to remain tightlipped about the Knight And Day deal, several trade experts and analysts confirmed Hrithik’s price hike off the record. In fact trade analyst Amod Mehra opined, “So what if Hrithik is charging Rs 30 crore for the film? I think it’s less compared to what he gives in to his projects.”
According to a source from the trade, there are only a handful of actors who are considered for solohero projects these days. And most of them (namely, Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar) have a profit-sharing model of remuneration. “Producers often want the top four or five actors. And this is the price you pay for them,” said Mehra and added, “The business of cinema has grown with time. And if one wants to recover the cost of making a film, they need one of these big stars and pay them what they demand. They justify the price.”

Hrithik Roshan, Katrina Kaif in Siddarth Anand film: Confirmed

September 29, 2012 |

Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif have been signed to play the lead in the remake of Hollywood film Knight and Day. The film will be directed by Siddharth Anand, who has previously directed films like Salaam Namaste, Ta Ra Rum Pum, Bachna Ae Haseeno and Anjaana Anjaani.

Talking to us, Siddharth says “Yes, I will be directing the film. Initially, it was supposed to be a remake of Knight and Day (Tom Cruise, Cameron Diaz), but certain points in the film didn’t work for me. When it released, Knight and Day was a very popular film and I didn’t want the Indian audience to just watch a remake.”

To rework the script, Siddharth worked closely with Kahaani writers Sujoy Ghosh and Suresh Nair. A source close to the project informs “They have re-worked the script with Sujoy Ghosh and Suresh Nair. Major changes have been made to the storyline and it will be a completely new experience for the audience. The basic idea of Knight and Day remains, but with several new twists and turns.”The film will be shot in India and Europe. The music is expected to be composed by Vishal-Shekhar, music directors of all Siddharth Anand films so far. The title of the film that goes on floors in February 2013, is yet to be confirmed.

This will be Hrithik’s second film with Katrina after the hugely successful Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. Stay tuned for all the updates on the action thriller, that’s expected to release late 2013 or early 2014.

Is their anything original in BARFI ???

September 27, 2012 | 21

really after i read all the new article about barfi cant stop laughing .Imagine the film who did great and the critic praise it like hell most of it is not inspiration but copy scene by scene and we said Anurag is agood director ??? i can accept that because indian people dont give shit about these thing they dont care about anythinhg but really how the hell you can send Barfi to the oscar and the film is acopycat from hollywood

just look at this

Oscar? No way
Anurag Basu’s latest, Barfi, has spurred a fresh debate on whether or not a film plagued with charges of plagiarism deserved to compete for the Academy Awards. While some feel the director should be lauded for his unconventional take on the lives of the differently-abled, there are others who feel the film doesn’t have an Indian heart.

According to film critic Rajeev Masand, any form of “imitation” and “inspiration” in the arts is always disappointing. He says, “In the case of Barfi, it appears that several key moments are identical to other films.” Salim Ahmed, whose Adaminte Makan Abu was India’s official entry to the Oscars in 2011 couldn’t agree more. “Plagiarism happens not only in Bollywood but even in regional cinema. But I believe if you are copying, credit must be given to the source.”
