I Never Promised you a Rose Garden..

When PFC authors were busy blogging for movies(headed by ever dependable Manjeet Singh for Mumbai Meri Jaan)and my friends are actively pouring their opinions and comments about Jhoom Barabar Jhoom(JBJ), I landed a rare opportunity to interview Aditya Chopra-yes Adi!..Actually i had gone to YR studios just to look out for a blogging opportunity for the site but it turned out to be one way street of hogging the limelight–by none else than Adi himself..Without spending too much time –the way YRF does ,trying to build up and come to the story in a convoluted way, i straightaway got down to business by firing questions at Adi(as he is fondly called–honestly how he likes to be actually addressed, i have no idea).

Just got back from a 9:30 show in a suburban cinema in NYC. I agree with Q’s review but not entirely, and I also agree with Pranav’s review. I liked Abhishek, he has once again shown that he is capable of delivering variety, and IMO has now established himself as a lambi race ka ghoda. However, he has made a major judgement error in accepting this script.
Despite all the irreverence, colors, cinematograpy, comedy, zanniness etc. this movie packed the content of possible 1hr, but it has been stretched into 2+ hrs. I enjoyed the movie for all the points that Q has mentioned, but I feel that it has failed miserably in targeting to a mass audience. And this is its biggest flaw, it was hyped to be a 50cr answer to SRK, but it fell flat on its face in trying to be that ace up Abhishek’s sleeve.

On a hunch, I popped in the Yuva DVD today, for my second viewing, after 3 yrs.
First of all, I noticed a lot more of Jr this time, than last time: the intense looks, the style of walking, a very new mix between tapori, bihari and sorta relaxed self assured style that disarms the viewer until you get to see his violence and anger. He gets skin deep into the Bihari mode, the dialog delivery is first rate, the performace is definitely noteworthy. I

Dear friends, I am a new member and privileged to write in this fantastic forum.
The following are my thoughts on some of the recent history of Bollywood by viewing it from a different perspective, and arriving at a conclusion on what really attributes to the numerological superiorty of certain actors over others. My thoughts have been compiled purely from applying an economic/financial analysis in relation with events that took place in the past decade. In any case, I am ready to be skewered for this first posting in your esteemed forum, so bring it on folks…
Movie buffs tend to always apply the perspective on the state of the finished product, which includes the acting, sound, music, editing, cinematography, etc. I will like to categorically state that I am far from a critic, a lot of what people talk about editing, etc just flies over my head. But what I do always wonder about is the aspect of financing in movie production. In Hollywood, one can take a look at the publicly released financials of most major studios and grasp at how the $s were pumped into a movie.
