Intelligent film critics welcome to give Himmatwala one star-Ajay Devgn
New Delhi, March 6 — Ajay Devgn expects the worst from critics for his upcoming film Himmatwala, an official remake of the 80s blockbuster hit of the same name. No, that is not to say he’s doubtful of the success of the film, but he feels that recognition from the audience and success at the box office is more important than awards and great reviews.
“We want zero awards. And, the ‘intelligent’ film critics can give us just one star. Intelligent film critics wo log hote hai jo maa ke pet se khwahish le kar aate hain, ki main film banauga, jab bana nahi paate to critics ban jaate hain (those who want to become filmmakers but fail, become critics). Theek hai unka kaam hai criticise karna … karne do par hum picture audience ke liye bana rahein hain, un chaar intelligent logon ke liye nahi,” says Devgn, who is shooting in Bhopal for Prakash Jha’s next titled Satyagraha.
Talking about awards, he adds, “They have become reality TV shows which are meant to gain TRPs. Jo perform karega, usko award milega (those who perform will get an award).”

awesome lines and very true.even more useless are those people who read reviews and then decide wheather to watch a movie are not.many of my neighbours just said they didnt watch race 2 coz the reviews were bad.they didnt know anything abt the story or acting or anything abt the movie,just blindly believing the critics.and these same idiots come back dissapointed when they watch a movie which has got good reviews.still they dont learn from it.morons -

1 1I don’t understand why Ajay has taken this view against the critics (I am not their fan by any stretch of imagination) but it was the critics who hyped his good performance into fantastic, making him get National Awards!
Gangajal deserved it, but in Zakhm it was Kunal Khemu who was splendid, not Ajay.
Same was Bhagat Singh. It did not deserve a National Award.
Having said that, if Saif can win a national award for a YRF film, Ajay deserves it more

Awards are indeed ridiculous.
But I feel (as you say my personal view) Ajay was splendid in Gangajal as also Singham, not Bhagat Singh (it was one track acting), while Zakham saw a better performance from Khemu, even as a child artist.

as for dilip kumar and amitabh bachchan – box office records dont prove amitabh bachchan had a larger popularity than dilip kumar.
1. dilip kumar had 6 biggest hits till age 50 ( jugnu, shaheed, baabul, mughal e aazma, madhumati, ganga jamuna) , amitabh had 5 ( roti kapda aur makaan in special appearence, sholay, aaa, mks, coolie multi satrrers.
2. most of dilip kumar;s hits were solo hero, amitabh’s were multi hero
3. dilip kumar had a 15 year reign with 30 hits and a couple of average without a single flop between 1947-1961 9jugnu to ganga jamuna). bachchan had a peak of only 11 years (1973-1983) but had numerous flops.
in between4. dilip kumar’s 1st phase of career lasted till age 54 (bairaag 1976) , amitabh till 50 (khuda gawaah 1992)
5. in the second phase of his career dilip kumar played central characters and had 3 biggest hits of the year (kranti, vidhaata, karma) while amitabh bachchan doesnt have a single biggest hit of the year in 2nd phase
6. dilip kumar;s hit-flop ratio is much much better than amitabh bachchan
and if earth is round can be proved, why cant youi prove irrfan was better in which film?
and even if i like just two films a year “ajay devgan’s poker faced comedy’ is not the title of a film but a way to define his comic style. so i can like it apart from my quota of 2 films a year, cant i?
