compare sharukhs ‘rejected’ films like ra1, my name is khan, jab tak hai jaan with tees maar khan, kambakht ishq, desi boyz, khiladi 786 and u wud knwo the difference.

come to think of it, even compare shahrukhs’ ‘rejecetd’ films like jab tak hai jaan with akshay’s ‘accepted’ films like special 26 and u will still get the picure.

1. how did u assume – OMG, dirty picture, rowdy rathore, rang de basanti, chak de india were ‘universally accepted?

rang de basanti and chak de india were only accepted by urban middle class, mainly men with the highest (ticket) purchasing power and hence they made watever the amount of money they did (which even despite their high paying audience profile wasnt highest of the year.

rowdy rathore was loved by those who love action, more concentrated in the tier 2 cities but also in metros. even from that section – it got much smaller number of ppl endorsing it than say a ‘dabangg’ or a ‘ghajini’

dirty picture was loved by those who like cheeky, radical stuff and those who love sex in films. certyainly no way it means mainstream appreciation.

OMG – funniest assumption – for the sake of avoiding insulting a community or a regional group – i wud say OMG is only loved by those who are typical watchers of SAB tv.if i elaborate any further, there will be huge controversy. but the point is, forget wider audiences, self respecting ‘pseudos’ will also not appreciate something as juvenile as OMG. its not even in lagaan/rdb/swades class.

2. very cleverly u r clubbing the huge ‘acceptance’ of dabangg with ‘highly limited’ acceptance of special 26. and wat makes u assume special 26 character is accepted? were character(s) in A wednesday accepted? special 26 acceptance is like that only.

3. as i said earlier all the films u mentioned were not universally appreciated. universally appreciated films are 3 idiots, haum aapke hain kaun, maine pyaar kiya, sholay, mughal e aazam and mother india. so stop throwing words about without understanding them. tumhaare aas paas ke chaar logon ne bol diya aur film universally appreciated ho jaayegi kya?

and forget india – ur definition of universal doesnt even include entire south delhi. south delhi has vasant vihar and saket but also dakshin puri and hauz raani. none of the films u mentioned were popular in all the neighborhoods mentioned.

and in which world are both ra1 and tees maar khan semi hit?

if u take stricter versions – ra1 is a semi hit but tees maar khan is much lower

if u take boi verdicts ra1 is a hit tees maar khan a semi hit.

and why wud u compare welcome (2007) with rnbj (2008) welcome can be compared to oso and om shanti om was clearly bigger hit. oso was solely about shahrukh, welcome had anil, nana, katrina.

and again u r using cheap ‘askahy fan’ tactic – of comparing akshay’s biggest hit with sharukhs ‘yet another hit. compare rowdy rathore with DDLJ and u wud know the difference in akshay’s aukaat and sharukhs star power.

and only a joker fan can compare jab tak hai jaan with khiladi 786. which have a diff of 2 levels in the verdicts.

as for print vs collection – ther is no proof prints add to collections. especially not after 2500 prints. its not as if u release special 26 on 5000 prints and it will become a blockbuster. it will remain a limited 60 cr grosser.

and sharukh may not be king or baadshah but is thousands times bigger star even today than akshay.

@fazal – sahi pakda. before release they were saying sp 26 will do more than 100 cr as its got 4 open weeks (till himmatwala they were assuming which is more than 4) now they are counting even ABCD and kai po che as competition.

2. gandhi jayanti will be the next big release date

3. celebration for this national holiday will take different hues from this year

by the way i had predicted mental will release on 2nd october way back. in fact if there are no unforeseen incidents even kick may come this year.
