“Thought of doing multiple films in a short span of time is absolutely fulfilling” – Akshay

February 5, 2013 | 13
Akshay Kumar

In a matter of 10 months, Akshay Kumar would be seeing his sixth film (Special Chabbis (26)) releasing in theatres. For any current superstar in the industry, this is a huge record by all margins. However the man is not slowing down. On the contrary, he is looking at surpassing this record as well and score even higher in months to come.

You have made quite a few appearances during last 10 odd months. Starting from ‘Housefull 2? last year, ‘Special 26? would be your sixth straight release over the months. You seem to be on a records spree, isn’t it?
I know (smiles)! One would think that I was given some ‘Do or Die’ news or something like that where I have to fit a decade of living into two years. Actually though, I just think I have an addiction! Most men of my age take up casual drinking or gambling, or buy a ‘Top of the range’ sports car. As for me, I just can’t get enough of my work.

That indeed is the case. What else explains the fact that you have at least three (Special 26, Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai 2, Boss), if not four more movies (including ‘Thuppakki’ remake) lined up this year?
See, most people who go home and think about their work are restless. I go home so that I can eat, sleep, dream, talk, walk, train and crave for my work; all of that and more so that I can go back to all of it in the morning. I love what I do and the thought of doing multiple films in a short span of time is absolutely fulfilling.

February 5, 2013 | 59

Disclaimer: My ranking takes into account BO performance till Jan 2013 and current public perception as per my observation. This ranking does not consider potential of a star but the result that stars are able to deliver.

Female Star Ranking TOP 10:

[1] Katrina Kaif – She is the HIT machine of Bollywood with consistent HITS. She gave one Blockbuster (ETT), One Hit (Jab Tak Hai Jaan) and one super hit item song (Agneepath). With her cent percent record…she is an undisputed queen.

[2] Sonakshi Sinha – Climbs to No 2 despite a disaster in Joker. She gave two blockbusters – Rowdy Rathore and Dabangg2 and one Hit – Son Of Sardaar. She is a strong contender for No1 next year.

[3] Priyanka Chopra – Rocked in Agneepath and then with Barfi which was a super hit. She also released her music album which is triple platinum winner already.

Rich, Famous and Persecuted By HUMA YUSUF

February 5, 2013 |

KARACHI, Pakistan — The Bollywood megastar Shahrukh Khan is causing a stir in Pakistan — and not because he has a new film out. He published anarticle last week describing at length how he feels persecuted and stereotyped for being a Muslim.

He especially lamented having to defend the extremism of other Muslims: “Whenever there is an act of violence in the name of Islam, I am called upon to air my views on it and dispel the notion that by virtue of being a Muslim, I condone such senseless brutality.”

And he admitted that he gave his children names that would not easily identify them as Muslims. “I imagine this will prevent my offspring from receiving unwarranted eviction orders and random fatwas in the future,’’ he wrote.

For days, Khan’s article has made headlines here, with special TV news packages including clips from his films dramatizing his perceived plight as a Muslim. At dinner parties, people have been debating how Bollywood’s leading man could possibly have such a rough time.
