Priyanka’s Zanjeer introductory song devoid of raunchy lyrics, movements

Kareena has done it. So have Katrina and Deepika. Even Vidya Balan is no stranger to it. But Priyanka Chopra has decided to buck the trend. Dance numbers with raunchy lyrics and suggestive moves may be every heroine’s ticket to mass popularity, but PeeCee, who has done her bit of special songs in the past, has decided to stay away from them. And though she has agreed to film a special song in her own film Zanjeer, she has put in plenty of conditions. To begin with, music producer Bhushan Kumar will be personally supervising the track to ensure it doesn’t offend moral sensibilities of the actress or the public. Ganesh Acharya will be choreographing the number, with the rider that PeeCee can reject any section or the entire sequence if she so wants. Anand Raj Anand will be writing and composing the song, subject to Priyanka’s approval. A source close to the project said, “Priyanka doesn’t want a whiff of vulgarity in the words or dance movements. She wouldn’t like to be associated with anything remotely suggestive, especially now, when the country is seething with rage at the commoditisation of women in films. It’s a tall order but we see her point of view. Nowadays, one can’t be too careful. Also, we don’t want another Chikni Chameli or Fevicol. If Priyanka is doing her first special dance number, it would have to bear her unique stamp.” And that’s not all. The Zanjeer team is keen to have Priyanka sing the song in her own voice. However, the actress is bound by her singing contract in the US. “We’re trying. But she may not be able to sing in her own voice. In that case, she would want Alisha Chinai, who she feels sounds very similar to her,” said the source.
