2012 was an eclectic year for Bollywood as far as sheer variety was concerned. With middle of the road films also finding their due popularity, the line was diminished further between commercial and non-commercial cinema. This resulted in actors from varied genres of films finding a unanimous nod of approval from audience as well as critics alike.

Ranbir Kapoor (Barfi!)

Even though as a film ‘Barfi!’ was a tad uneven, what enabled the narrative to keep peaking at regular intervals was one man – Ranbir Kapoor. One can keep assigning adjectives to his act but rest assured, he would be pretty much finding himself in the awards arena at every function. He more than just justifies his selection for the film and his mannerisms, body language, smile, angst, pathos, quest for smaller things in life and reasons to be happy are what make ‘Barfi!’ endearing. The youngest superstar that Bollywood has today.

Irrfan Khan (Paan Singh Tomar)

Tigmanshu Dhulia played a masterstroke by roping in Irrfan Khan as the film’s lead. There hasn’t been a blemish in his performances ever and yet again in a central role, Irrfan proved why even internationally there is so much curiosity to see him on the big screen. While he retains his originality, he never tries to go over and above the character and stays within the parameters that were written for a character, something that was the case with ‘Paan Singh Tomar’ as well. Irrfan was superb once again.

Akshay Kumar (Rowdy Rathore)

Akshay Kumar went all out for ‘Rowdy Rahore’ as he left behind the relatively serious characterisation from the world of ‘Desi Boyz’ and ‘Patiala House’ and stepped back into the world of ‘Aflatoon’ and the likes. In fact after watching the film many opined that it wouldn’t have been a bad idea to rechristen the film’s title as ‘Khiladi Rathore’ because that would have truly justified the essence of both characters that Akshay played. While his character of a happy-go-lucky-small-time-thief dominated the scene from start to finish, his cop counterpart ‘Rathore’ impressed in an extended guest appearance.

Salman Khan (Dabangg 2)

In 2012’s grand finale release ‘Dabangg 2′, one man who kept the entire show running with no interruption or hindrance whatsoever was Salman Khan. Right from the opening credits where the escapades of Chulbul Pandey from ‘Dabangg’ were flashed to the way he went about cracking jokes with his team of policemen to the camaraderie that he shared with his senior to the wit that he brings in practically every conversation of his to the way he went around reacting to the most life threatening situations as a mere joke, he never allowed the tempo of the film to slow down. A true ‘dabangg’ performance.

Paresh Rawal (OMG – Oh My God!)

Paresh Rawal dominated, and impressed, throughout the film and whether it was his argument in the Court or at the chat show or with God himself, he was just superb. What stood out was his never-say-die attitude in the most adverse of situations, so much so that as an audience you actually start empathising for him. As the character ‘Kaanji Bhai’, he never tried to project himself as someone overconfident and simply challenged the various beliefs and practices coming in due to commercialisation of religion. With the film, Paresh Rawal showed once again what he is made of.

Disagree with this list. Seems like the writer’s personal opinion.

For me the top 5 actors of 2012 were:
    1) Aamir Khan (Talaash)
    2) Irfan Khan (PST)
    3) Hrithik Roshan (Agneepath)

    5) Saif Ali Khan (Cocktail)

Now a days seems like RK’s PR is on a overdrive trying to project his act in that piece of shit barfi as the best thing to have happened to bollywood since ages.

Salman Khan aur Akki kabse actor ho gaye ?????

    1. sanjeev – radhey – 6th bb in a row

@alfa.one: before srk’s fans started calling his hamming and goat sounds to be acting.

  10. VED-Z

” Salman Khan aur Akki kabse actor ho gaye ????? ”

As far as Acting skills are concerned dont take Akshay Kumar’s name with Salman. Akshay Kumar is one of the most versatile and great actor in Bollywood. He is amongst a very few top class A111 grade actors.

Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Aamir Khan, Anil Kapoor, Ajay Devgan, Shahrukh Khan, Govinda and Hritik Roshan are at a different stage compared to other actors as far as acting skills are concerned. And there are few non hero actors as well who are unmatchable.

  11. Aditya007

”Salman Khan aur Akki kabse actor ho gaye ?????”

lol.. SRK Ki tarah nahi hai, bus thode Uss Se better hai!

  12. dr.nick

acting is all subjective..if anyone has a objective definition which can be “proved” they can put it forward.”FOR ME” salman is the best actor of this generation and nobody in the world can prove me wrong.similarly i cannot prove other people’s opinions wrong regarding their choice of best actors.so its a futile exercise trying to prove someone as a best actor.everyone can express their opinions rather than arguing about it.

  13. Alfa.one

Ved z yes u r right, akki cannot be named along side sallu. Akki is far better actor than wooden actor sallu of these days except ett.

  14. Alfa.one

Also govida is real good actor as u rightly said.

  15. VED-Z

Dr nick words like ” opinion, subjective, FOR ME, etc easily can be basis for manipulating any topic especialy qualitative topics.

The one whose fans will be more in a discussion would always be termed as best one but this doesnt means that actualy all actors are equaly talented.

Jo Aadmi(Salman) khud kehta hai ki mujhe kirdaar main ghusne ki kya zarurat log to salman ko dekhne aate hain. The one who says why should I go inside a character people wanna watch me as salman, he can be a great star but never be a great actor. To some extent only Dabangg and Tere naam looked like Salman has explored himself as an actor rest just upto mark

    1. dr.nick

your opinion, live happily with it.dont force it on others

  16. rockie_Dabangg2

    Akki – RR

  18. suprabh

    rockie,

Kya baat hai, bada pyaar aa raha hai sridevi par (although I agree :D)

    1. rockie_Dabangg2

Sridevi has always been my fav .. bachpan se … :)

EV – She was magical …. I have watched that movie couple of times (online) just for Sridevi.

  19. suprabh

    Nirjhar,

I agree with the actors in your list (more or less with the rating too, although thats not that important) except one choice. I would have Hrithik in my list and not Manoj Bajpayee. I found GOW-1 a very hollow movie and even though I found Manoj’s performance really good, the whole movie just made it unmemorable for me.

    1. Nirjhar

Suprabh, I get it … it was only performance which I took into consideration … like Agneepath upto the Rishi Kapoor phase was excellent, after that it was a boredom … but the way they (Karan and Karan) remade the original it is praiseworthy, unlike doing the same things again (like Rowdy Rathore)

Btw Suprabh, I missed your reviews … please start them again :)

  20. VED-Z

    Dr Nick

There are two type of satement one makes i.e 1. statement based on self opinion 2. statement given whlile considering it universaly applicable

if a person starts sentence with ” AS PER ME ” , ” ACCORDING TO ME ” , FOR ME etc etc only then term his statemnt as his opinion.

I didn’t used these words in my last comment so dont use it for me.

Whatever I said I believe it as universaly more acceptable and truth thats why didnt started any sentence with word ” According to me” etc. if due to the soundness of the facts I mentioned or I can it seems to u as being forcable on you, then what can be done. I dont need to force anything on anyone neither one can do

    thanks

    1. rockie_Dabangg2

“Whatever I said I believe it as universaly more acceptable and truth”

So whatever you say is universal truth … wow now isn’t that forcing it on others??

      —-
Salman is a good actor or no? OR Who is the Best actor of 2012?
These question’s have no Factual answer’s. All answers will be opinions… individual opinions.

Aur yaha NG pe ek bohot bade Gyaani hua karte the …. jinka kehna tha … “Opinions are like …. everyone has one” … :D

PS: Gyaani – Danish Bhai’s knowledge of old movies was too good. I am yet to meet a person with that much detailed knowledge of old movies.

      ******************

  21. VED-Z

There is a huge difference between ” whatever I said ” and ” whatever I say. plz read comments proplerly before reacting

Aur NG ke aapke gyani to bahar ho gaye, aur bahar huye logo ko tum gyani maante honge hum to dhongi baba kehte hai. Apne isi adhoore gyan ki wajah se woh out huye the

And yes again tum opinion opnion ratne lag gaye . did I started my comments with words like “as per me or according to me ” ?

Read then type and Save Time

  22. VED-Z

Qualitaive topics can also be discussed on qualitative facts and evaluation. One man cannot be the choice of all living beings on the planet called as ” Earth ” , doesnt means there is no one who is the best actor or have the best acting skills OR their is no group of actors superior in acting skills as compared to other actors.

  23. rockie_Dabangg2

You can keep on CLAIMING your opinions as FACT’S …. but that doesn’t change the FACT that its just an individual opinion.

“Qualitaive topics can also be discussed on qualitative facts and evaluation. ”

Qualitative facts like what?? Please elaborate..
Give me examples of Qualitative facts that you use to compare actors.

    —-
“there is no one who is the best actor or have the best acting skills OR their is no group of actors superior in acting skills as compared to other actors.”

I repeat there is no unanimous definition of BEST actor, if you have a group of Akki fans for them he will be best actor and similarly for others actors. Again these will be their opinions. There is no FACTUAL basis to find who is the BEST actor.

    —-
Abt Gyaani from NG … I have explained why I called him gyaani because he had lot of knowldge about old cinema. Again this is my opinion and I am not going to force it down your throat the way you do it … :)

  24. Angry Young Man

Among male lead actors Paresh Rawal as kantibhai in OMG and Salman Khan as Chulbul Pandey in Dabangg2 were handsdown best performances of the year 2012, Both were just fantastic.

Specially Salman Khan crying at death of his child in dabangg2 was as natural as it could get, Absolutely brilliant act.

other 3 best performances among male actors in 2012

    Irfan khan in PST

    Ranbir Kapoor in Barfi

    Aamir Khan in Talaash

  25. Angry Young Man

&Those SRK fans ranting against Salman or akshay should know that its SRK who in his WHOLE CAREER has mostly survived on CANDY FLOSS ROMANTIC FILMS by playing raj/rahul characters (Thanks to YRF and Dharma) with the exceptions of Swades and CDI.

While salman khan has given MEMORABLE PERFORMANCES in DIFFERENT GENRE throughout his whole career right from maine pyar kia. (Romantic, Comedy, Action, family/drama etc)

  26. VED-Z

rockie your reply seems to be a bit irrelevant and very outdated. please read my 2nd and 5th comment on this thread once again. However i ve already spot some light on Sallu’s own concept of acting , now there are a lot of facts , points, vedio clips as eviedences, thoughts and evaluation measures on all above mentioned which can be the basis of a discussion but that is a very time consuming especialy on an online forum. And the way you have ignored my previous comments , all this looks impossible

Now whatever I said on this topic I believe it as universaly acceptable means I expect or believe more people or majority would agree with me on this point. it doesnt means I am forcing it on anyone.

Their is a huge space and a very dark line between these 3
Self Opinion based on a belief
Believing a thing as universaly acceptable
Forcing others to believe a thing or fact

if my belief on a fact as universaly acceptable is influencing you in any direction, its not my throwing power its ur catching power so control it if you think it is not in your benifit. I am not pushing anything , you are pulling it.

Bhagvaan ke astitva se inkaar karne waale bhi log hai is duniya main. Now the people who believe in God never says its their opinion that God exists ,they says God exists for all and each a lot believe and a few doesnt. Their this belief doesnt means they are forcing it down to the throats of the other aethists.

  27. rockie_Dabangg2

    @VedZ:

My reply is absolutely relevant, its you who is finding excuses.
Answer this simple question instead of saying the same thing over and over again …

    —-
Qualitative facts like what?? Please elaborate..
Give me examples of Qualitative facts that you use to compare actors.
    —-

“Now whatever I said on this topic I believe it as universaly acceptable means I expect or believe more people or majority would agree with me on this point.”

So basically you are “assuming” things that what you believe … majority would agree with it.
So this is not even qualitative facts .. its only “Assumptions”, no wonder you are not answering a simple question about examples of “qualitative facts” that you use to compare actors.

  28. rockie_Dabangg2

    @Ved:
“Now whatever I said on this topic I believe it as universaly acceptable means I expect or believe more people or majority would agree with me on this point.”

Read this comment properly … and see how many I’s are there …
    I said
    I believe
    I expect or
    I believe

So everything is I – which is again ONLY surrounding 1 person that is you and hence “I” say its your opinion. Opinion of 1 person.

  29. VED-Z

    rockie mere bhai,

the question here is wether it just opinion or something more than opnion ( means opinion + …… ) …. thats y I said its universaly acceptable….. so why are you wasting your time by counting I’s. Every concept, fact starts from opinion, now depends wethet it is just remain an opinion where in person is not sure about its universal acceptability OR it has become more than an opinion where in person is concerned and sure about its universal acceptability. First understand then reply. nahi to itne lambe lambe esaay likhne ka kya fayda

about qualitative facts pehle mere 2nd comment ka reply to karte, jisme maine salman ke acting concept ki baat ki hai tabhi kuch aage baat hoti.

  30. Alfa.one

@Sanjeev – “@alfa.one: before srk’s fans started calling his hamming and goat sounds to be acting.

    hey raadheyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy really ???????

  31. rockie_Dabangg2

    @Vedz:

Please don’t quote Salman’s opinion on his acting… because its again his opinion. :)

I want to knw your qualitative facts …
    —-
Qualitative facts like what?? Please elaborate..
Give me examples of Qualitative facts that you use to compare actors.
    —-

  32. rockie_Dabangg2

Anyways I am done with you …. and your self made wonderland …. where your opinion is the universal truth.. :D

Stay happy there … Do watch this movie Vanilla Sky(Tom Cruise) …. your wonderland can be created …. :)

    —-
Now I am gonna do me …. and I am gonna let you do … you …. !!

  33. VED-Z

” Salman’s opinion on his acting… because its again his opinion “.

hahaha :) . This one sentence proves the result of this long discussion.

thanks for falling into your own trap of infinite opinionism phsychology.
