His last film released just 4 weeks back and his next is less than 40 days away. However, Akshay Kumar is adopting an altogether different strategy when it comes to their promotion. While for Khiladi 786 he went all around the town with his song-n-dance routine as well as numerous city tours, when it comes to Special 26, there is something ‘special’ which is already on the anvil, which would be unique.
“For starters, Special 26 isn’t one of those ‘masala’ films like Khiladi 786, Rowdy Rathore or Housefull 2. It has to be promoted differently and hence the entire pitch would have a different flavour to it. Just like OMG Oh My God where the entire focus was on content, even Special 26 would have its very subject as its USP. That is something which is visible in the promos as well and since it is a plot driven film, Akshay as well as director Neeraj Pandey have devised ways to reach out to the audience”, says a source.
These plans would are all set to be executed, now that the New Year revelry has settled down and it is back to business for Bollywood.
“A beginning has already been made in the way the whole campaign has been designed. Right from the posters to the theatrical promo, the look and feel of the movie is different. Since it is a heist drama, you can’t expect Akshay to be singing, dancing or performing those dare devilry stunts. This is the reason why none of these elements are kept on the forefront. Focus is on the treatment factor here”, an insider adds. Continue reading

Rapes occur in India, not Bharat: RSS supremo Bhagwat
SILCHAR: RSS supremo Mohanrao Bhagwat criticized ‘western’ lifestyle of people in urban areas and said, without empirical evidence to back such a claim, that rape is prevalent mainly in cities where Indians are deeply influenced by western values and not by rural India. Various women’s NGOs and even police records suggest rapes in rural areas largely go unreported.
Tena Desae: TABLE NO 21 not spun around a game show
There have been many instances, especially in the last couple of years, where a not so big banner and star cast project has managed to surprise at the box-office. Of late the audience has been quite receptive to some unusual projects.
Table No. 21 Review By Taran Adarsh
Films like KAHAANI, TALAASH, also most films helmed by Abbas-Mustan had this uncharacteristic quality of keeping the spectator on tenterhooks till the last frame. A taut thriller demands that the spectator stay vigilant, is all eyes and ears as the story unfolds, becomes a participant while the mind games are being played by the characters on screen… TABLE NO. 21, directed by Aditya Datt, which sets the ball rolling in 2013, truly symbolizes a riveting thriller.
Sohail, at Salman’s insistence, has sounded out Tabu and Naseer for his remake of Murugadoss’s Stalin
Could Salman’s next, Radhe, give his image the kind of makeover he so seems to desire? The Sohail Khan directorial, which is a remake of southern hit, AR Murugadoss’s Stalin (2006), will see Sallu play a good samaritan – a far cry from the roles he has been essaying to the hilt of late. And to give the film a certain gravitas, the actor has reportedly sounded out both Tabu and Naseeruddin Shah to share screenpsace with him. When contacted, Sohail said, “(The actors) have not confirmed yet.” A source close to the film told TOI, “Before leaving for Dubai on Wednesday, Sohail spoke to Tabu and Naseer for two important roles in the film.”
Elaborating on Sohail’s unusual choice, the source said, “It was at Salman’s insistence that Tabu and Naseer were contacted. Salman felt that the supremely talented duocould give the film a touch of class. Also, the film sees him as a a military officer who sets out to reform society and as suh, needs cerebral actors.”
Initial reports suggest Tabu will play Salman’s sister in the film, while it is not clear what Naseer will be portraying. Incidentally, Radhe will be the first film with Salman and Naseer in it. As for Tabu, this will be Salman’s fourth film co-starring the actress. The first three being Hum Saath Saath Hain, Biwi No 1 and Jeet. Continue reading
