Anupam Kher, Akshay Kumar support Kamal Haasan on movie ban

New Delhi, Jan 31:  Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar and veteran actor Anupam Kher today supported Kamal Haasan over ‘Vishwaroopam’ controversy with Kher terming the movie ban “ridiculous”.

Tamil Nadu banned Haasan’s film for two-weeks in the state, citing law and order problems following allegations by Muslim outfits that it portrayed the community in negative light. Continue reading

Top 10 Current Stars – Based On Last 5 Films

A permanent ban that wasnt and i am still not ‘sudhrofied’. i still believe “opinions are like axxholes, everybody has one”. i still think top stars are decided by the number of people who buy their tickets, so also the best actors. and though i dont believe in ‘current biggest star’ business ( i subscribe to the ‘overall biggest star’ theory, the current biggest bollywood  star today would be saif and by tomorrow evening it cud be kamal haasan) i am still publishing a ‘scientific list’ of top 5 current stars as the fans of one manipulative star have been publishing too many manipulated lists. so here it is

top 10  current stars based on the collections of their last 5  films.  i have not included special appearences and extended special appearences of all stars like hrithik’s luck by chance, srk’s billu, aamir’s dhobhi ghat, akshay’s omg and salman’s sos, tell me o khuda, etc in the list.

the collections of the films upto 2011  have been inflation adjusted @ 10% per year as all stars have not had 5 releases in the last year. Continue reading

12 Films This Friday; Why This Hara-Kiri?

The first over-crowded Friday is here! Tomorrow, February 1, will see the release of almost 5 Hindi films. If one takes into account the Hollywood, Gujarati and Marathi movies, the number goes upto mind-boggling 12! Half of them are being released without any buzz whatsoever, shockingly! My views on the Bollywood films:

DAVID: The best bet of the week. It’s directed by Bejoy Nambiar, who showed his brilliance with Shaitan. The film deals with three eras and three characters (played by Neil Nitin Mukesh, Vikram and Vinay Virmani) all named David. All three look fabulous. Neil is happening and his track will be presented in black and white. Monica Dogra (of Dhobi Ghat fame) is also in his story while Tabu and Isha Sharvani features in Vikram’s track. Vinay, last seen in Speedy Singhs, is a revelation. Dama Dam Mast Kalandar seems rocking and great to see Bejoy opting for someone like Sarika over a scantily clad ‘item girl’! The promo generated excitement but buzz hasn’t been significiant. Good word of mouth can attract many moviegoers. Continue reading
