Rajesh Thadani, Multimedia Combines
It’s a Dabangg franchise and everyone was waiting for this sequel since it was announced. The film has been allotted the highest ever number of shows at multiplexes. Being a massy film, it has a fabulous number of single-screens as well.
Dabangg 2 has taken a fantastic opening and, as the day unfolds, collections are swelling. The first-day collections will be around Rs 20-21 crore all over India, and in Mumbai, Rs 4 crore. This is a typical Salman Khan masala movie with a touch of class. Arbaaz Khan is a welcome addition to our industry as a director. He proved himself as a producer with Dabangg and now as a director with Dabangg 2.
Surendra Saluja, Lakshya Movies
Dabangg 2 is running almost house full everywhere. It has released in more than 90 cinemas in Punjab, which is a record here. For a change, they have not raised ticket rates, which usually happenes with a big-star film. First Ek Tha Tiger and now Dabangg 2… Salman Khan has given distributors an exceptional year.
Apart from the number of cinemas, the film has got a greater number of shows compared to other films, with every multiplex running more than 16 shows in our territory. Dabangg 2 will run house full over the weekend and on Monday and Tuesday too as the Christmas vacation is underway. The movie will earn around Rs 1.3 crore in East Punjab.
Debashish Dey, Aum Moviez
Dabangg 2 has taken a historic opening in West Bengal and the audience is going crazy here. Whether the music or the action in the film, everything is a super hit. Salman Khan is in his best form ever. The film has released in 266 screens including single-screens and multiplexes.
The first-day collections will be above Rs 1 crore, which will break the records set by many other films this year. This is a typical Salman Khan masala movie and Salman Khan is in the prime of his career. Whatever he touches, turns to gold.
Sarang Chandak, Shri Rang Films
Salman Khan has a very loyal audience, not only in CP but across India. The opening of Dabangg 2 was 80-90 per cent and the film sustained its numbers during the day. The film released at 180 screens and has been allotted maximum number of shows.
It will run house full, not only at the weekend but even on Monday and Tuesday. Dabangg 2 is expected to cross Rs 1 crore on its first day. Khan attracts the masses as well as the classes and hence the film will do well at single-screens and multiplexes. Dabangg 2 is the best way to close a very successful year for our industry.
BH Basha, Bahar Enterprises
Dabangg 2 opened with an extraordinary response at single-screens whereas the numbers were lower at multiplexes. In Mysore, I expect the film to earn around Rs 1 crore on its first day. The film released at 65 screens here and has been allotted the maximum number of shows.
Dabangg 2 is a typical Salman Khan movie and audiences are lured to the ticket windows by the very mention of his name. But according to the report, the music is not up to the mark. Other than that, the film is a complete family entertainer.
Rakesh Singh, Maa Sona Films
Although the morning shows were not very packed because of the cold, footfalls increased significantly during the afternoon shows. The advance booking for the night shows is impressive. The film has exceeded expectations.
In Bihar, the film has released at 140 cinemas. Audiences loved Dabangg in 2010 and hence everyone is eager to watch the second installment. And unlike many other sequels, this one has lived up to expectations. On day one, the film will earn Rs 25-30 lakh in Bihar.
