Close on the heels of being chosen to play celebrated Olympic medal winner Mary Kom in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s biopic, Priyanka Chopra has bagged yet another title — has been voted the most popular female in Asia.
A new social format, which is similar to Facebook, conducted a poll in which Dalai Lama emerged as numero uno, followed by Aamir Khan. Priyanka stood in the third position. With this she becomes the first woman ever to have achieved the tag of being the most popular female celebrity in Asia.
The spokesperson confirms, “She has topped the Asian list. She is first among the women.”
The year has panned out well for Priyanka, what with her film Barfi! becoming the official Indian entry for Oscar, and her music single In My City winning her an award for Favourite International Debut. Now, she features on The Chainsmokers’ album in a song called Erase, which is in the electronic dance music space, and the track will be out this month. Looks like her film Barfi! which did well both in the domestic and overseas market and her international music foray has been the clincher.
