Talaash Takes Bumper Opening

Talaash Takes Bumper Opening

In Mumbai, Rajesh Thadani of Multimedia Combines says, “Talaash opened at 70-80 per cent in Mumbai and across India. Its reports are also good and almost all the night shows have been booked in advance. The weekend too is promising for the film as all three actors, Aamir Khan, Rani Mukerji and Kareena Kapoor, have a huge fan following.”

In Delhi-UP, Sanjay Ghai of Mukta Arts adds, “There were heavy rains in our region last night and the weather was very cold. People usually don’t venture out to watch movies in the morning under these conditions but Talaash opened at 80-90 per cent in UP-Delhi. The numbers are expected to go up after the noon shows. And footfalls will further increase at the weekend.”

In East Punjab, Surendra Saluja of Lakshya Movies says, “The film opened at 40-50 per cent here and even the reports are not very good. Advance booking has not yet opened for the evening shows.”

In West Bengal, Debashish Dey of Aum Moviez says Talaash opened really strong in multiplexes, at 65-70 per cent. “I call this a ‘good opening’ because there was no buzz or any real promotion around the film. The numbers will rise in the first week due to word-of-mouth publicity. Weekend shows are half-full already due to advance booking.”

In Saurashtra-Gujarat, Ajay Bagbai of Rajvi Trade Links says, surprisingly, the morning shows didn’t open with great numbers in this territory, compared to other regions. “Talaash opened at 40-45 per cent,” he says.

Oops, a lot of people here are going to be disappointed. Also, I don’t understand why on one hand BOI is saying the opening is low and on the other hand they are saying bumper opening. I also read on one of koimoi article that Talaash opening will be between 14 to 16 cr. Hmm, if that is true then big disappointment for people here. One thing is for sure, WOM seems to be on the positive side and that means it will have a long run at BO. I say 100 cr should not be hard and possibility of 150 cr will definitely be on. Keeping my fingers crossed.

But the problem with talaash is if the suspense is leaked the curiosity factor will diminish and many people will skip it deciding to watch it in tv or internet…..

  3. Sagar

But there are quite a few people who are saying that on a second watch, it looks better because there are some things you understand after the second watch.

Which one to believe..some of my friends who watched the movie ..all of them praised it that its a good movie and no doubt about it…so many positive review zee new movies..bollywood hangama..yahoo movies..rediff movies..emirates247..koimoi..every where i see praise and then i come on NG and see -ve reviews just one member posting it.. .ye ho kya raha hai bhaai..!! what to believe and what not to..??

      Dude dnt go by reviews…..
      generally …..

      Good reviews are paid reviews
      Bad reviews are from haters….

This is true for all movies… so use your judgement

    2. Nirjhar

As rockie said already with reasons, don’t go by reviews, use your own judgement … specially as it is a suspense film haters may spoil your viewing by revealing the surprises

And abt who is to believe, who are reasonable you have to be regular to know it … like there will be fanatics of a star, and also haters … and then reasonable ones … though Tango bhai surprised some members during JTHJ-SOS episode, he is a sane member and trade insider … you can believe him

thanks guys..was a regular here..but had to stop visiting..due to some reason..i knew fanatics like Dr milind.. :-).. before release of Ra.One.!!

    Two things that spoiled Talaash

    1. Aamir should not have promoted it as Suspense film… He should have kept the suspense element as Suspense just like cricket in Lagaan.

    2. As zack (sb) said, the film should have ended right after the accident. The surprise element would have totally shocked the audience n the ending would have been Historic…

Those who have already seen the movie would agree with me… But after Talaash Aamir has gained even more respect n has always chosen riskier subjects… If we had more actors like Aamir indian film industry would have had both quality as well as quantity… I would say its his best performance…

Witnessing live fatal death of your loved ones is more excruciatingly painful than just loosing your loved ones is brilliantly emoted by Aamir onscreen.. His act was just brilliant including all cast n crew…

      @fs
Agree wit u on most of point bt fr a complete movie buff like u didnt u feel underwhelmd by climax or havn’t u seen hollywood’s classic thriller

      1. FS

Those things have already been seen on Indian TV like Psychological horror thriller but the treatment of Talaash is completely different… When you don’t want to get up during interval or if it looks like forced interval then there was something that was holding you or your attention completely… I was vocal about disliking the last 5-10 mins but you cannot just rip off a movie for its lame 5 mins of nonsense compared to 2 hrs of its gripping tale….

  8. akash

much better film than jthj …if they can call such illogical plot cinematic liberty then talaash ending is vry appt IMO.

@Rohit/Mods – Can you renew the Chatbox? It is showing as expired… Why the twitter handle is not of Talaash yet?

  10. mrabindra

It’s a good movie and slow in start of 2nd Half but better than non sense movies like ETT and Rowdy Rathore.
    Weekend – 45 cr
    1st week- 65 – 70 cr

    1. ank_16n

mrabindra—is it better than masterpiece Dhobi ghat???

  11. ady_koolz

Talaash will find it difficult to reach 100 cr…If only the writers would have handled the kept the suspense element well then it would have been different…Anyways it is better watch than most of the films released especially the first half which is brilliant…
