21-year-old girl arrested for Facebook post slamming Bal Thackeray
Police on Sunday arrested a 21-year-old girl for questioning the total shutdown in the city for Bal Thackeray’s funeral on her Facebook account.
Another girl who ‘liked’ the comment was also arrested.
The duo were booked under Section 295 (a) of the IPC (for hurting religious sentiments ) and Section 64 (a) of the Information Technology Act, 2000. Though the girl withdrew her comment and apologized, a mob of some 2,000 Shiv Sena workers attacked and ransacked her uncle’s orthopaedic clinic at Palghar, north of Mumbai.
The 21-year-old arrested for her Facebook post was among many who aired opinions on social networking sites.
“Her comment said people like Thackeray are born and die daily and one should not observe a ‘bandh’ (city shutdown) for that,” Police Inspector Uttam Sonawane told the Mumbai Mirror.
Despite widespread concerns, there were no reports of unrest in Mumbai itself on the day of Bal Thackeray’s crematon.,
In recent months, the country has shown sensitivity to criticism of its politicians, sparking criticism in turn from freedom of speech campaigners.
In September, campaigners were outraged by the arrest in Mumbai on charges of sedition of a cartoonist for his anti-corruption drawings. The charges were later dropped.

Now I fail to see what point of view it reflects, other than the fact that a news item is posted.

This arrest thing is height of stupidity. Such a lethargic action shows how pathetic is our system. I am in support of speech of freedom and will be forever.
But sad part is that this is not the first time it happened and saddest part is this will not be the last time it happens.Though i would like to say this- May be its in my nature but I don’t label a person a good or bad as a whole. I rather take inspiration from what good he did and take a lesson from what bad he did. It always will be like this.
For me there are lot of inspiration I can draw from Balasaheb and same time a lot of lessons learnt on how things should not be .-

However, thats where I respectfully disagree from you. You can do good and bad, and I can do good and bad. Because we are imperfect.
But Osama Bin Laden was not imperfect, he was pure evil. There is no amount good he could have done to earn an iota of respect from me, much less be an inspiration. Same for every other tyrant – Saddam Hussein, Gaddafi, Hitler. They all did a lot of good for some people who supported them till their death and still do.
These supporters may have thought yeah he is doing some bad things, but look at the good as well – he helped me, my family, my community. But by doing so, they indirectly supported their evil actions, let them happen in front of their eyes. Bal Theckeray falls in that category.

0 0@rosh… what your are saying is right in a sense. But if you think of it, there is no leader in the history of a mankind who had done only good things. If you think of anyone plz name it. Coz I can not think of anyone.
take a example of some of the great leaders in the history. Say Nepolian. He is hell lot of a leader. But there are big number of people who hates him. for them he was evil. (especially people in Bolshevik area.)
Take an e.g. of Lincoln. He had his fair share of haters who thought he was evil. Hecks he even got killed by one of them.So what I am saying is there is no man in the world (not just leader but any human) who does only good things or bad things. If there are supporters there will be haters. For someone you are an Angel for others you are evil. Because mainly Good and Bad things are subjective.
Thats why I said admire the good things while condemning the bad things. and don’t follow anyone blindly. -

As on the other thread Jaspu mentioned that he was in mumbai for 2yrs and has seen the things. So its completly justifiable if he says openly that Thackrey is evil.
My whole motto behind making so much arguments was requesting people outside Maharashtra that ‘ don’t judge someone/somthing based on stupid news channels.’
