Jab Tak Hai Jaan has taken the 8th highest opening of all time while Son Of Sardaar is 17th. Both films should finish higher in the first week list as they have a favourable period for days 4-6. The top opening weekends in the history of Hindi film industry in terms of nett collections are listed below.

in every link say of opening or grosser they give different figures mostly lower for akki movies

they adjusted as they have done with many movies of akshay earlier as well

0 4Manish, even the numbers that come up within a week are just a more accurate estimate, leave aside the numbers coming next day which are more or less high level estimate. They have changed numbers many times within a few months even for movies like 3 idiots. the box office collections in India are not as good as that in Hollywood where every dollar is reported correctly.
Calculating nett in India is complex as different states and cinema halls have different taxation. So, the producer numbers that Taran and Komal release is all bull, as they use the most favorable calculation to come up with highest numbers.

so they never increased it because they themselves and even komal gave as much as 65 % Ds out of first weekend or first week … but they used same conversion rate for RR as they did for multiplex heavy Don -2 , so that thing doesnt apply for BOI

3 of the 4 movies have flopped at BO. So obviously initial estimates would be high, but will come lower.

Doga is right as far as estimation is concerned. But atleast BOI uses a more correct standard as compared to Taran/Komal. Also, Net is derived from Gross in the first place. Not the other way round.
Hence, plexes based movies numbers are closer often than SS based movies. (Tax is higher in SS)

I hope you realize if a multiplex and another SS movie made same gross (say 100 cr), the nett for the plex movie (around 85-95 cr) with be significantly higher than SS (60-70 cr) as taxes in plexes are much lower. so not sure what you are implying by your statement.-

2002 – Devdas – 60.75%
2003 – Koi Mil Gaya – 61.75%

2005 – No Entry – 69.65%
2006 – Dhoom 2 – 71.75%
2007 – Om Shanti Om – 71.9%

Also note, if you were to calculate Adjusted Nett for HAHK (176 cr) and Gadar (166 cr) it would fall behind 3 idiots (202.57 cr) based on the above info provided. This does not mean that 3 idiots was more popular. Footfalls for both HAHK and Gadar are distant dream in this time. What it means is that ticket prices ended up contributing more to the nett for 3 idiots while for HAHK and Gadar, a heavy chunk went as taxes.
