Jab Tak Hai Jaan had an extraordinary opening at multiplexes collecting full houses or near full across the board. The opening was excellent even at multiplexes which are not known to take a huge opening in the first show.
The pace will slow after 12 noon due to Dilwali Puja but in some circuits the effect of Diwali Puja is limited and those circuits will come out with huge numbers.
The opening has opened at record pace in Mysore and West Bengal with multiplexes recording mind boggling numbers and with Bangalore having a limit of shows on screenings per film, the release of Jab Tak Hai Jaan is on par with the biggest releases so it may even manage a record opening day total in Mysore.
The early indications from single screens are also a strong opening but not at the level of multiplexes, the opening gets lower as the centres gets smaller.
