People tell me I am better-looking than the heroines: Shah Rukh Khan

November 11, 2012 | 4

He may have recently turned 47, but Shah Rukh Khan shows no signs of ageing or slowing down. In Yash Chopra’s Jab Tak Hai Jaan, the actor will be seen in a romantic avtar after a hiatus of almost eight years. In a free-wheeling chat, the ever-enthusiastic SRK opens up about the late filmmaker, his 20 year-long journey in Bollywood and veteran actors he wants to work with

How do you keep fit at 47?
I don’t have excesses — I don’t overeat or overindulge. I have no bad habits, except coffee and smoking. I sleep as many hours as required. I have a few days off presently, after which I won’t be able to spend time with my kids for some time. So I am currently keeping them awake till 3-4 am; but apart from that, I don’t have any late nights.

Has age taken a toll on your thinking yet?
My mind is much faster than my body.

Movies Watched In November 2012

November 11, 2012 | 31

I lifted this idea from someone else without informing and I guess this is the best way to share movies you watched in a month than in a week. It is also helpful if someone have to revisit or refer this thread or particular thread one is looking for. During such discussions only I happen to see many good to excellent movies that made my days. I hope you all share as well.

My Left Foot – One hell of a brilliant performance i have ever seen from a male artist as well as the child artist (though small role). No doubt why he won academy award for the performance in this film! I liked the intention and motive of the movie but the flow of story was bit disappointing. The movie is about a boy with 75% paralysis. Only his left foot and middle body along with his face and head is movable. How he was ignored initially but later goes on to become famous writer and painter while painting and writing via his left foot. 4/5 (1 point extra just for his performance).

I was not aware of the actor’s real identity or his name when I watched “My Left Foot” and after few days I had a discussion with Dhamaka and he recommended another movie “in the name of Father”.

In the name of Father – first half was really good but i was blown out by his performance during his interrogation in the movie where he breaks down into tears. That was so so real. I have hardly seen any male character enact with such realism. As I said He is just brilliant and then I came to know he is the same actor acted in My left foot . Story is about innocent irish people being accused and punished by ruling England courts for the crime they haven’t done that includes father and son, aunt and other relatives. Later helped by one brit lawyer which also brings govt involvement in misuse of law and order. It is based on true story. Second half is very slow. 3.5/5 (0.5 for daneil) After this film i watched,

My Take on ‘Ek Tha Tiger’

RATING: 2.5/5

A Normal “Salman Khan”
Movie which could have been
Much More Better with the
Core Topic at Hand but Alas, It
was Not Made with a Greater
Sense of Purpose & Conviction.

Not Even a Single Actor Managed to
Give a Impactful Performance
in the Entire Duration of the
Movie…Each One of them was
Acting Like they were ‘Going
about their Jobs’ …Getting the Work Done…No Real Effort at all.

Kabir Khan’s Direction is at a Big Fault here… He Manages to Create a Wonderful Premise in the Fantastic 1st Half of the Movie but all that is Blown Away by an Equally Pathetic 2nd Half and a Shoddy Ending.

The Brilliant Positives, What Stands Out in the Movie
are the Locales, The Interesting Moments and Interactions in
the 1st Half btwn Tiger and
Zoya and the Action Scenes
[Though Tacky at Places].

Salman Khan is like my big brother, says Katrina Kaif

November 11, 2012 |

Katrina Kaif created quite a stir in Kolkata on Saturday. Not only was she looking gorgeous in her desi avataar in a chiffon sari – a typical Yash Raj heroine, she also made everyone’s jaws drop when she claimed: “Salman is like my big brother”.

The leading cast of Yash Raj film ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ had descended in Kolkata on Saturday to inaugurate the Kolkata International Film Festival.

Shah Rukh Khan, who is the brand ambassador of West Bengal and also owns the state’s IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders, was also at the event to inaugurate the festival. Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan was also present during the ceremony.

But Katrina managed to steal the thunder despite the presence of stalwarts like Amitabh, Shah Rukh and even the chief minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee, who is known for sensational quotes.

Prakash Jha lashes out at YRF’s alleged monopoly

November 11, 2012 | 11

Says Prakash Jha, “I’m hundred percent with Ajay on this issue not only because he’s a friend but because I know he’s fighting a valid battle against a trade monopoly that exists. Those in the industry who want to sentimentalize the issue are only burying their heads in the sand hiding away from the truth.”

Speaking out loud for the first time Prakash, who has worked extensively with Devgn in the past and is all set to start his new film Satyagrah with Devgn in the lead, expresses disgust at what he calls the alleged monopolistic practices of Yash Raj.

Says Jha, “With due respects to Mr Yash Chopra whom we all have the highest regard for, this kind of thing has to stop. Does Ajay Devgn seem like the kind of guy who would raise such an issue unless he was sure of his facts? I’m a hundred percent behind Ajay because I’ve been a victim of the monopoly.”

Says Prakash, “Why should Ajay allow his film to suffer because of this monopoly? Son Of Sardaar is not a small film. Please understand, Ajay’s fight doesn’t concern the multiplex chain of theatres. It is the single screen theatres which still account for 30 percent of our total revenues that have been pressurized into such a monopolistic commitment during the release of Ek Tha Tiger. Agreed Eid is synonymous with Salman. So flooding theatres with Ek Tha Tiger during Eid made some sense. But why should only Jab Tak Hai Jaan get a major portion of the theatres during Diwali when there is enough room for two releases especially when the other release happens to be a big Ajay Devgn project? Yeh kya baat hui? Eid bhi hamara, Diwali bhi hamara. So what are other filmmakers supposed to do? Wait in the line?”

Kajol may not even get invited by YRF

November 11, 2012 |

Actor-producer Ajay Devgn’s big fight with Yash Raj Films (YRF) over their Diwali releases – Son of Sardaar (SoS) and Jab Tak Hai Jaan (JTHJ) respectively – may just spoil things for Kajol. Or so fears her hubby Devgn, since Kajol has been one of YRF’s leading ladies but that equation may change in the wake of this ugly situation.

We asked him if Kajol will attend the grand premiere of JTHJ on November 12 for which all of Yash Chopra’s heroines will be present as a tribute, and he said, “I hope she does and I think she would. But I don’t know if it happens now – that is, if she is even invited! So don’t put the ball in my court, she should be invited first.”

Meanwhile, the Competition Commission of India has rejected Ajay’s complaint against YRF alleging abuse of dominant position by arm-twisting distributors in giving more single screen windows to JTHJ vis-a-vis SoS. But, Devgn hasn’t lost hope. “That is not the end. We’ve moved the Competition Appellate Tribunal. Let’s see what happens now,” he said while in the Capital since the last two days to promote the flick.

Though Ajay Devgn Films filed the complaint before YRF head Yash Chopra’s demise, the matter came to the fore only after he passed away. Asked if that worked against him, Ajay said, “I don’t think so. I am not very happy about it. Forget about bad timing, he was a legend and will always be. But at that point of time, when the timing has gone wrong, you are in a situation where you cannot withdraw (the complaint) also. If you know me, you’ll know that in the past 21 years, I’ve never woken up one morning and said, ‘let’s have a controversy’.”

North America:
——————————

Last weekend a wrecker called Ralph and an airline pilot lightened up the North American box office.  “Wreck-It-Ralph” was the big winner of the weekend with $49.04 million over the weekend, which is the best opening of a Disney animated film putting aside Pixar collaborations. Its reviews are also amazing with a 85% tomatometer score.

Second place went to the new movie “Flight” which earned a more impressive $24.90 million over the weekend and beat even the most high-end predictions. More impressive because it opened in only 1,884 theatres compared to the Wreck-It-Ralph’s opening in 3,752 theatres. “Argo” captured the 3rd position with $10.21 million and 4th place went to the new movie grindhouse kung-fu actioner “The Man with the Iron Fists” earning $7.91 million.

Latest Report On Release & Advance Bookings Of JAB TAK HAI JAAN & SON OF SARDAAR

November 11, 2012 | 45

With each passing day, the excitement for Diwlai clash at box office soaring new heights. There is new addition and media frenzy on daily basis. A famous producer announced that multiplexes going to have more shows for SOS and confused audience further. Here we bring you some random EXCLUSIVE info on both the films, clash, release and advance.

First of all as far as release size is concerned, picture is somewhat clear. “Jab Tak Hai Jaan” will release in 2600 screens in India and more than 625 screens overseas. SOS will release in 1500-1600 screens in India and 300 screens overseas. SOS on whole will have almost neck to neck similar size of release as JTHJ in multiplexes but that is not the complete picture. Naturally due to rather shorter duration of film, SOS will have more shows than JTHJ in those screens. But this is happening only in few centers.

Now even advance booking trend is clearly established and as we predicted, JTHJ is now way ahead. JTHJ had tremendous booking today too in centers like Mumbai, Delhi, West Bengal, Bangalore and Pune. Film should garner a booking figure of 16 cr or more than that by Monday night. There is a strong buzz of the film and at the moment it looks to dominate at box office.

SOS is finding favor in north and no doubt that film will take a good start at box office. Film is now having good bookings in few multiplexes in East Punjab, Delhi, NCR and CI. Though in longer run content will take over and will be the decisive factor. But at the moment, film’s advance is not upto the mark and lagging behind despite heavy dose of promotion from the makers.
