Soon after the success of Vicky Donor, Ayushmann Khurrana had been signed by Kunal Kohli for a rom-com. However that project seems to have fallen apart now owing to differences between Ayushmann and Kunal.
Ayushmann claims that he had signed the film on the condition that he would be paired opposite an A-list actress. When Kunal later thought of casting some not-so established actresses, Ayushmann decided to opt out of the project irking Kunal no end.
Kunal, who has been in the industry for a long time now, is furious with the way the newcomer, has behaved in this situation. The filmmaker tweeted, “Not doing the film with Ayushmann. We discuss projects with various people some happen, some don’t. No big deal. Ayushmann’s reasons were demeaning to other actresses. Sad a newcomer thinks likes that. Real stars/actors don’t. Anyway, moving on Also I was looking to produce a small film with him. Budget didn’t work out. I’d rather concentrate on other projects. Just to clarify I was NOT directing the proposed Ayushmann film. Sad he’s projecting it like this to get publicity.”
Vicky Donor actor Ayushmann Khurrana has reportedly left Kunal Kohli’s next film as the producer was not considering A-list actresses for the part of the leading lady in the romantic comedy film. Ayushmann revealed he was promised that a big name actress will be signed opposite him in the film but after Kohli started suggesting not-so-big names, he decided to ditch the project.
Kohli on the other hand has reacted angrily to Ayushmann leaving the project, reminding him that he is just one film old and big name actresses should first be willing to work with him before he can cast them. “Ayushmann is one film old. He can have a wish list of actresses, but he should be realistic about who wants to work with him as well. I have always cast actors according to the role. It is quite demeaning for anyone to say X or Y actress is small. No one should talk like that. I don’t put actors in categories like A B and C. It’s sad newcomers like Ayushmann are thinking like that”, he said.
The Vicky Donor actor opts out since he did not approve of his leading lady
One film old Ayushman Khurana opted out of Kunal Kohli’s home production film. The actor had set it straight that he wanted to be paired opposite an A list actress, while signing the project. When the producer mentioned the names of not-so-established actresses, the actor instantly decided not to do the film. However, this has not gone down well with Kunal and is quite upset with the actor’s action
Not surprisingly, Kunal hasn’t taken the ‘rejection’ kindly. He says, “Ayushmann is one film old. He can have a wish list of actresses, but he should be realistic about who wants to work with him as well. I have always cast actors according to the role. It is quite demeaning for anyone to say X or Y actress is small. No one should talk like that. I don’t put actors in categories like A B and C. It’s sad newcomers like Ayushmann are thinking like that. I never promise anyone any ‘list’ of actors. I also don’t decide my cast according to an actor’s demands. I cast according to the role.” He adds, “Moreover, the budget of the film exceeded what I had in mind. I was looking at making a small-budget film with him (Ayushmann) and a new director. But since the budget didn’t work out, I decided not to make this film and concentrate on other projects instead.”
