Bollywood box-office report of the week
With no major films listed for release this Friday, due to the ‘Diwali’ blockbusters, the attention shifts to the two Tuesday releases, Ajay Devgn’s SON OF SARDAAR and Shah Rukh Khan’s JAB TAK HAI JAAN. While both the films are likely to embark on a good start, SON OF SARDAAR has better chances at the single screens and JAB TAK HAI JAAN will fare best at the multiplexes. Trade insiders put the strong regions/circuits of SOS as U.P. East Punjab and Central India and for JAB TAK HAI JAAN the best run is expected from Delhi City, Mumbai circuit, Hyderabad- Nizam, Mysore Circuit and West Bengal. In the end count, the film which has a longer shelf life and the one that the families and youths prefer will be the winner. As far as the initial advance booking trends are concerned, the winner appears to be JAB TAK HAI JAAN, but that is only an indication.
My Take on ‘Student of the Year’

FIRST LOOK: Deepika Padukone, the seductress in Race 2
After Cocktail, Deepika Padukone will be seen in yet another sizzling avatar in the upcoming Abbas Mustan film Race 2. The actress looks hot and stunning in a white gown with an Angelina Jolie-esque slit on the thigh. The white gown contrasted with the bright scarlet lips looks a devilish combination and adds to the oomph.
Even as the Jab Tak Hai Jaan-Son Of Sardaar face-off is being spoken
about and debated, there is a new development happening in B-town.
News is that Aamir Khan is using his clout to block Akshay Kumar’s Khiladi 786 with his Talaash – both films will release together. Apparently Aamir is using the same tactics as Yash Raj Films did to
block Son Of Sardaar, to ensure that his film with Rani Mukherji and
Kareena Kapoor gets a bigger opening. Our feathered friend wants us
to believe that Aamir, along with co-producer Farhan Akhtar was
taken aback when they first watched the trailer of Khiladi 786, because it looks like a huge crowd-puller. Talaash might be a good film, given Aamir’s instincts, but it is certainly doesn’t look like a typical Rs 100 crore blockbuster. Khiladi 786, on the
other hand, seems like a winner, a massy entertainer that will win
popularity points. Our buddy also chirped to us that Aamir is playing
the Dhoom 3 card with the Talaash exhibitors. As is obvious, the Dhoom franchise is not one that any exhibitor worth his booking
window will let go of. We are not sure if we should believe our
informant, but these developments do seem possible.
Do you think Aamir will succeed in blocking Akki’s masala entertainer?
