Mumbai, Nov 6 (TruthDive): The big Diwali releases of Shahrukh Khan‘s ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’, JTHJ and Ajay Devgn’s ‘Son of Sardaar’, SOS are readying themselves for a big clash at the box office. The advance booking and pre-booking for the movies have been going on for the past 12-15 days at a brisk pace.
Now, the results of the pre-booking are released. It looks star power of SRK ruled over the star power of Ajay Devgn. The result showed 85% booking for JTHJ and 45% for SOS.
But, lot of rumours is doing rounds all over and in online social media. The figures in each site favour either of the two films. The information given out by multiplex partners and various booking websites are summarized here.
While seeing the overseas market “Jab Tak Hai Jaan” is leading. Sources from UK and Dubai say the film will be the biggest release ever there, as the film is already receiving extraordinary response.
But, in the domestic box office, the situation is more different and complex. A rocking opening is expected for SOS in Central India, UP, Bihar and East Punjab. A report from our country’s leading multiplexes say that SOS is all set to give a big opening in the above mentioned centers. For example in CI and Bihar, SOS tickets are expected to be sold out by next weekend.
On the other hand, JTHJ is showing its power in West Bengal, Nizam, Rajasthan, Delhi, Bangalore, Tamil Nadu and Mysore. Mumbai is expected to be a strong territory which would have almost equal response for both the movies but bigger release will give JTHJ an edge. Reports say JTHJ has sold almost 80% of the online tickets in the above mentioned regions. Places like South Mumbai, Western Mumbai, Chandigarh, Bangalore and Hyderabad are areas dominating the market with multiplex predictions saying that JTHJ will get a big score in these places.
Overall, it looks that the clash between the two films will be greater than expected. SRK and Yash Chopra’s brand equity will give JTHJ a special edge. People will sure make a point to watch Yash Chopra’s last film. The film will not only pick SRK’s fans; it will also be a touching tribute to the recently passed director Yash Chopra.
