8 4It seems Jab Tak hai Jaan album is burning lot of people here. If not masterpiece then almost all of it songs are ruling every music chart and are chartbusters much better than Chinta ta ta and your Po Po songs.

2 3JTHJ music is a clear case of legendary artists coming together to give out a dud. Here’s the thing, the soundtrack is actually not bad as many anti-fans may term it but the fact of the matter is, its actually not good either… Yes the possibility of not meeting the gigantic expectation of Rahman-gulzar combo could be a reason but honestly even if for one moment you remove those names, the songs are still plain average.
challa- a decent to good song. I feel it could have been better but its missing the typical rahman magic that makes the listeners connect with his work.
saans- the worst song of the album and possibly of the decade- both lyrically and musically. (Having said that I dont mean chintata or po po songs are better but those songs are too useless to be even considered for comparison…)
Jiya re Jiya re– very very average song–reminds one of rahman’s old Nanna re nanna re re..barso re megha megha.. (Guru) which was another irritating number
Heer – A decent song and those who are calling it amazing and what not should go and listen to punjabi albums especially songs by jaspindar narula..there are many songs such as this and this one just doesnt top them.
Title track- I havent heard it yet so no comments.

3 0just saw mtv unplugged ar rahman episode…the ‘nenjukkul’ song from his next mani ratnam’s tamil movie was beautiful(even more beatifully sung by shakti)….now that’s the rahman i know…not the rahman who composed jthj which is strictly avg….

as for the fraud master A R Rahman, the less said the better. after 20 years in bollywood its difficult to recall 20 great songs from the media made paper tiger. bappi lahiri has a better record anyday.
that brings me to gulzar. it pains me to write this but though gulzar has disappointed a few times in the last 5 years, this is the 1st time he has churned out something ‘shameful’. i am the biggest gulzar fan and i put him amongst the greatest legends of bollywood but i refuse to believe he penned these mediocrities himself.

0 0@SUPRABH – 1-10 are definitely classics. so also paathshaala, luka chhupi, tu hi to meri dost hai and one song from veer (i cant recall i right now) and off course genda phool. thats only 15 songs in 20 years. apar from that u have just made a list of ALL rahman songs, including teh most forgettable. in which world o humdum and neem neem shahd shada classics or great?
and which song is this chupke se lag ja gale? i havent even heard of it.
and calling maula or ye jo des hai mera great songs betrays ur lack f sense of music, nothing else.

0 2@definitely suprabh u cant have as refined music sense as me. for that u need to listen to beethoven, mozart, bach, bade ghulam ali khan (not the ghazal singer) kishori amonkar, shobha gurtu (not shubha mudgal) pt bhimsen joshi, lata mangeshkar, salil chaudhary, sd/rd burman, khaiyaam, and not a r rahman. and then they say modesty is my middle name!
having said that u r just making random list of rahman songs and cxalling all of them great wen most are not even good. the only two other songs that i can think apart from the 15 mentioned above are ‘mast mahol’ from fiza and urvashi urvashi from humse hai muqabla. another 3 forgotten ones wud make it 20 great songs in 20 years. which is wat i said originally.
p.s. one of the remaining 3 can be pappu cant dance saala.

Actually I dont even know who these people are.
Beethoven and Mozart sound as if they are people from Europe, but who knows they can be from Aligarh..as I said im just too immodest
who is Bade Ghulam Ali khan ? Is he man or woman?..sounds like a classical singer whose thumris are rather famous..but…how can I say I havent heard any of his/her work…I am just too immodest
I should not even dare talk about kishori amonkar and shobta gurtu..because I am not good enough to talk about them considering I dont know who they are..I have only heard Anu malik and Ar Rahman..and also i am just too immodest
Who are Sd/Rd burman– are they from Burma? Or should I say Mayanmar..well who knows..I just make random lists..and as I said Im just immodest
Is bhimsen joshi related to Sunil Joshi? Well how can someone like me tell..I dont even know what classical music is.. i always though dhinka chika was classically complete..well in case you missed..Im just immodest.

0 1@suprabh – i like artists for their work. if gulzar writes an inane song, why wud i bother to remember it. i had found the songs of saathiya rather mediocre (yes lyrics) but was relived that he got back in the groove with bunty aur bably. the bad influnece off course was a r rahman. gulzar has done his worst work for a r rahman (saathiya, yuvraj, jab tak hai gxxnd) dil se perhaps is the only exception where he wrote excellent lyrics for rahman.
and i mistakenly credited rahman above for a beautiful song in veer which was by sajid wajid.

1 0Danish..Suprabh ko kuch bhi kah lo but don’t say anything to Chupke se lag ja gale song. Have you heard the lyrics of this song. For me Saathiya album is one of the best in BW history. Even that Manglamyam song is my caller tune and it is over 10 year. Only chori-pe-Chori song is a little bit let down.
As far as JTHJ music is concerned it is a dud gor me. Yash chopra ke Faasle or Parampare jaisi filmon ki yaad dila di.

Keeping Aside the HUGE Expectations, Even than the Album does Not Even Match Upto Something Like Chalte Chalte, VZ , OSO etc.
Only, Challa and Heer are Good but ISHQ SHAVA was the Best Song from the Album.
