Jab Tak Hai Jaan & Son of Sardaar Important Release Update. Not Confirmed.
As we are receiving daily news and rumours on Jab Tak Hai Jaan and Son of Sardaar Diwali release. Here is some latest news update on both the film. Jab Tak Hai Jaan is to release in huge 2500 screens all India. It is extremely good news for the makers of JTHJ and all Shahrukh Khan fans. On the other hand Son of Sardaar is to be released in 1700 screens which is also huge but quite less in comparison to JTHJ release count. Screen sharing as earlier predicted is tilted towards JTHJ with 60-40 ratio. The main reason is said to be YRF has already pre-signed the release count with many theaters all India on Ek Tha Tiger release.
This has not gone well with the makers of SOS and they have sent a legal notice to YRF studios on screen manipulations. Ajay Devgn Films (ADF), through their lawyers Naik & Naik have served Yash Raj Films (YRF) a notice in the Competition Commission, for using their dominant position in the Bollywood film market. And, using and abusing their clout to deny ADF their rightful due, for ADF’s November 13 Diwali release, Son Of Sardaar. ADF was forced to take legal recourse because of monopolistic practices of YRF. Before the release of Ek Tha Tiger, in August 2012, YRF had reportedly used their dominant position in the market to enter into an arrangement with the exhibitors saying that they will give them Ek Tha Tiger only if the exhibitors agreed to reportedly give their Diwali release prominence over others.
It is very sad to hear such news coming in and healthy competition turning into ugly. Hope all is well with both the films and as fans we are eagerly awaiting for the release of both the films. In our opinion Diwali is a big release time and well enough screen space is available for both the film’s to survive.
As if now if YRF able to hang on to 60-40% screen ratio all India, then –
JTHJ – Is to release on 2500 screens with a potential of collecting 25-26 crore nett in Single Day.
SOS – Is to release on 1700 screens with a potential of collecting 17-18 crore nett in Single Day.
