My views on HEROINE

HEROINE – A NATIONAL AWARD FOR KAREENA?

Madhur Bhandarkar’s films are known to sweep hordes of awards at various award functions, if not the National Awards. And that’s what is expected from Madhur’s next Heroine as well, featuring Kareena Kapoor like never before!

Many viewers are complaining that Heroine reminds them of The Dirty Picture and Fashion as Heroine, just like these films, deal with the ups and downs of the glamour world. However, the truth is that Heroine commences with the character already at the top of the game and gradually sliding down while the other two films were about small town girls making it big and then falling down. The first trailer of the film served its purpose and got mostly positive response. The ‘item number’ of the film – Halkat Jawani – grabbed eyeballs even before its promo was unveiled. Kareena seems to have done a great job in the film, and besides, the film also has talented actors like Arjun Rampal, Randeep Hooda, Divya Dutta, Harsh Chhaya and others. Apart from Halkat Jawani, the title song, Saaiyaan and Tujhpe Fida too have found appreciation. The dialogues of the film are just brilliant and mediapersons and actors can’t help but totally agree with some of them. The best one for me is ‘Mumbai Daily Ki Associate Editor Ho Tum. Filmstars Ki Friendship Tumse Nahin, Tumhari Position Se Hai’!

Film seems like an entertaining and at the same time sensitive portrayal of a diva. I have loved Bhandarkar’s previous ‘realistic’ films and this one seems to be in the same league. However, excitement for the film isn’t tremendous. Besides, a section of trade fear that Ganesh festival and T20 tournament will make a dent in film’s collections. The film should have 60-70% opening and can grow if word of mouth is positive!
