A. Any big holiday release with universal acceptance can do it. You don’t even need fantastic word of mouth of word just good will take any big holiday release to that 200 crore now with 3500 plus screens releases expected for the big films.

    Its surprising to see when trade experts and trade sites make comments like this. When every star film start doing 100 crores or 200 crores that itself reveal the market size has actually grown to another level.

    We have the two ways of understanding this absurd logic

    1. How many movies have crossed 100/150/200 crores.
    2. ETT had everything in its favour , Star power/Release size/Good opening.
    Had it been that easy vicky donor/kahani would have crossed 100 crore or Rowdy Rathore would have crossed 150 crore as all these movies are good trending movies as per the general opinion goes here.

    Though its definete that time will come when most of the movies will cross these figures with the changed business dynamics.

    Aryan, No it means ETT could not reach 200 cr despite all the advantages. And it proves what I have been saying — 200 cr should be a breeze for festival releases with long weekends.

      lol Shalu please read fully it says with 3500+screens which will happen in future and ett was not released with 3500+prints. nd then also it almost reached 200 which means that it had at least good word of mouth to do it. :)

    Forget 200crores Till now How many films have even reached 150crores with Festival release?? forget Ra-one Don 2 realeased last year on the same festival when dabangg will release this year.how much don2 did?? did it even crossed 110crores??

    or agneepath after that??

    Till date ONLY SALMAN KHAN FILMS have managed to do that. that too releasing on eid which even was not considered a big festive period before few years it was only salman who on his own made Eid a big festive release for bollywood films.

    This looks BOI trying to undermine Salman’s power at the BO through their lame commentary.

    not only Salman Khan’s movie, even other stars movies do get released on the bigger holidays so have they been able to score very big on the box office never right, this crap site just undermines Salman stardom even though he has two back to back highest grossers of the day and probably the third one as well.

    Diwali was always considered to be the biggest festive season…

    Aamir owns Christmas rights coz, he made Christmas holidays big… He earned that.
    TZP – how many said it was due to Christmas?
    Gajini – How many said it was due to Christmas?
    3Idiots – Nobody expected it to break Gajini’s record but All said it was due to Christmas :P

    In Salman’s case…
    Wanted Released – Media said till now all his movies had flopped during Eid released and will he survive this time… Opened very low but did highest EID day business of that time…
    Dabang – Media again said can he give another hit (not blockbuster mind it) this EID? It was monsterous hit.
    Bodyguard – Before this he had already given blockbuster with ready and media started to claim it as biggest non holiday hit (non holiday trend started with ready) but every one made one clear statement… EID and Salman Khan are synonymous now. Result ETT… (though released one week prior to EID). and he rightly owns EID release..

    Both Aamir and Salman doesn’t need Christmas and EID to make it big but to make it biggest they need a holiday release, there are enough holidays in India and they need any holiday release of that year. Once they start giving Biggest Hits on other holiday release dates even those days will be recognized as the biggest release date….

    Even Diwali – Shahrukh khan was the pioneer to identify the biggest opportunity during diwali holidays and he gave some of the biggest hits during diwali release only.

    Not everyone or anyone can give biggest hit or 200cr (halwa hai kya?) but one needs huge back to back consecutive hits to build up reputation and status symbol to achieve such numbers… bhokna to kutta bhi jaanta hai..

    this year only dabangg 2 has a chance to reach 200 crores.
    Next year there will be many films that have huge chances to cross 200 crores and even more..Kick, Sher Khan, Dhoom3, Krish 3, Peekay…maybe OUTIM2 if akki gives big hits before this movie.

    Had it been JAB TAK HAI JAAN would be only release on diwali it could have done 200 crore subjected to the content.
    DABANGG 2 has strong chance considering CHULBUL PANDEY’s iconic role and other factors.

    And Above all 200 crore done by any actor whatsoevr factor favours the release its not piece of cake. Its a remarkable feat.

    Aamir has done. Hats off to him. Salman came very close. Again a remarkable achievement. If SRK/AKKI does it that wuld be a remarkable feat.

    And no theory can decimate this fact.
