8 5ATBB ka mazaak bana ke rakh diya hai … just like ratings of movie has become joke. 15 years before .. 3 stars was very rarely given to genuinely well made movie. 4 Stars was once in a blue moon. But now every thing has been exaggerated to criminal level. Every other movie is getting 4-5 stars and lenient verdicts. Good to keep fans and followers happy ..
I don’t know what ATBB is .. this term was not in use till 90′s. But IMO Magical Hits of Bollywood are :
1. Ratan
2. Kismat
3. Mother India
4. Mughal-E-Azam
5. Sholay
6. Maine Pyaar Kiya
7. Hum Apke Hain Kaun
8. DDLJ
9. Gadar (Lowest among all above)
10. Three Idiots (Lowest even to Gadar)And three other low budget Huge Hits :
11. Jai Santoshi Maa
12. Aankhein
13. RTGMThere is no magical Hit since Gadar.Even Gadar was just a HUGE hit .. not at the level of above first 8 movies. Ditto for Three Idiots.
And if you want to include likes of Ghajini, Dabangg etc in this category … then there are at least 100 more movies which deserves position in upper slots.
PS : I was in discussion with one journalist few months before and asked him one question .. “Which movie is bigger Hit ? Three Idiots OR Muqaddar Ka Sikandar ? ” … After some pause he asked me to give one day to answer this question. And next day he told me .. though its tough to answer this as both are from totally different eras but based on comparative collections minus inflation, repeat audience and total audience .. its “Muqaddar Ka Sikandar”. ……. now this says all !!

2 3yakuza bhai- u r 100% right . from last 10 years atbb list changes so many times . now we find that 2 0r 3 atbb or bb movies comes every year which is totally wrong. what is the definition of atbb 5 times bussiness of the budget ? if it is right that i think only first 8 movies comes into above list. my other point is if ett budget is about 100 crore and earns 190 in my opinion this movie should be rated hit or superhit max. as far as 70s and 80s movies are concern there are at least 25 movies which r bigger hit than ett, gajani, or dabang. for example . yakuza bhai responed to my list and i m wating for ur reply.

if a film’s ROI is more than 300% then its a BB and more than 500% its an atbb!!
A Shah rukh Khan film can never be an ATBB in this era unless it makes 300crores nett ..
tillu film can be an atbb even at 120 crore
ullu khan’s market is grown over the past few decades and makers are investing more amount of money to make a quality product that attracts even the multiplex audience.. henceforth the budget of ett is around 90 cr and its roi isnt even 150% .. still boi giving it a verdict of BB is a boon to sallu and his chamchas..
SRK’ s Rab ne **khuda nazar na lagaaye” was a low nudget film which costed less than 25 cr including everything (also SRK’s 10 cr fees) and it went on to gross about 150 cr net worldwide.. now its a true ATBB
ATBB doesnt mean that the film has surpassed the previous atbb in terms of gross.. ATBB means the film has made more than 5 times its investment!!
ETT is def not a an ATBB neither is a Bodyguard or for that matter even Dabnng or 3 idiots ..
BOI is completely biased !!
