God, what’s your BB pin? (On behalf of Kumar3798)
Interacting with fans is a big part of film promotions these days and
filmmakers are going to great lengths to generate a buzz among cine-
goers. The makers of Akshay Kumar’s upcoming OMG! Oh My God, have
gone mobile in their marketing efforts. They have tied up with
BlackBerry to generate a BB
pin which fans of the actor (who plays Lord Krishna in the film) can use to interact with him 24×7. Rudrarup Datta, marketing head of Viacom 18 motion pictures,
confirms the news, saying, “In today’s marketing scenario, getting a
chance to interact and engage with the audience works better than
promos and push communication strategies. After social networking
sites like Facebook and Twitter, it is the Blackberry Messenger (BBM)
that is most popular.” Anyone who adds the BB pin — 21853999 — which was activated last
evening, to his or her friend list will be able to chat with God. “Anyone
can ask a question at any point of time and receive a reply,” Rudrarup
claims. So will Akshay himself answer every query made from across the
country, personally? Rudrarup answers, “There will be actual answers,
which will be signed off by Akshay, after the director’s consultation. He
will not reply to every query individually, but he will be informed of
all the replies.” So what kind of queries from fans will the actor tackle?
“Personal questions or questions not related to the film will not be answered,” says Rudrarup.
