SRK and not Aamir – 1st Indian actor to be featured on Time
It was a huge feat for Aamir Khan. After all, getting featured on the cover page of a reputed and international magazine like Time is not just another achievement. The piece of info was widely publicized by the Indian media along with the fact that Aamir Khan is the first Indian actor to be featured on the magazine cover.
However, this doesn’t seem to be the truth. Fans of Shah Rukh Khan have exposed the fact that SRK had already made it to Time cover page and that too in 2004, way before Aamir! So why is it that newspapers, websites and other media portals are spreading lies? Is it a case of incorrect information? Herd mentality? Or an instance of what is popularly called ‘paid media’? If yes, then by whom?

1Most publications have talked of Aamir being the Indian actor to be featured on the cover of TIME after Parveen Babi and Aishwarya Rai., and not the first. IN any case just being featured on the cover is no big deal as it is the Asian edition of TIME and it is like being featured on the cover of say India Today. But what is to be noted is that unlike the previous occasions, when the story was about Asian Cinema in general, this time the cover story is on Aamir. and even more than that what is important is the STORY itself.

But many srk fans protested against these fake links. Then they were forced to correct their news. Aamir thought he could get away by publishing false stories. 0 1Point 1: Go to time.com and look for cover page of current issue. Its Barack Obama on all issues. The Asian issue has two covers, one is Aamir, the other is Obama.
I am not sure why there are two covers but I would guess maybe just the Indian subcontinent issue has Aamir cover. So, not such a big victory for Aamir, but Kudos still.
Point 2: The cover story on the said (Indian?) edition is on Aamir, that is different from the previous cover pages (including SRK) where they were just a cover artist, the story wasnt on them.
So SRK fans, stop crying and whining.

And try to find news article on the same…most of them are carbon copy of each other and has same set of info – that Aamir got on Time cover thanks to SMJ, he’s the 1st indian male actor and the 3rd actor after Ash-Parveen to achieve the feat and in the end there’s a list of Indians who arent actors who made it to the list. Most of these write-ups don’t mention that SRK too made it to the list (regardless of whether he was a cover artist). And this is wrong and irresponsible journalism. This is what I am trying to highlight with this post.
