Joker grossed around 4.75-5 crore nett on its first day as per early estimates. The collections were low all over though the single screen circuits fared better comparatively.
The film will need to show around 30% growth on Saturday and Sunday to have any chance of a decent run at the box office. If the growth is not big on Saturday then theatrical business will not be going far.
The film is one of the lowest openers of Akshay Kumar in the last few years if we take Tasveer 8×10 out of the equation. 4 3Action Replay opening was 2.75 crores??? Really? Released on a holiday with big leading stars and a superhit song Zor ka Jhatka and only 2.75 crs? It was not even an offbeat film, in fact a full on commercial film, and not even low budgeted. And competition only in the form of golmaal which was heavily panned! Wonde why the movie bombed so badly…and I think AR was more promoted than Golmaal.
And to whoever says that holidays work, especially Akshay fans..don’t they see these results??-

And Actional Replayy also took 150%+ jump on second day. THATS RECORD
Yaar it was Laxmi Pooja, so the film was bound to open on lower side and also a HUGE film releasing against the film..so these numbers were pretty much expected

2 0RJ, first things- If G3 didn’t have good hype, then from where did 8.5cr on first day came and that too on a lakshmi pooja. If that’s not hype, than what is it? And no one will come to you (apart from NG members) and tell G3 has good hype.
And I know Action Replayy was under performer from first show. I was just having fun and thus mentioned 150% jump. The similies in my former comment should’ve conveyed it to you
But yes, Golmaal3 had good buzz around, especially because its a successful brand!

4 1Exactly Aryan. G3 was panned and when I saw the movie I found it to be funny, not as the movie per se, but the witty lines that were written for it. I literally burst out laughing when Vasooli asks for a phone number, and shreyas stammers on evry number. However dumb it might sound I thought it was witty.
AR got better reviews, but audience reaction was otherwise. G2 hampered the position of golmaal as brand and except for taking a big opening, it didn’t do much later. Actually G3 had negative hype around it, not like joker..but to an extent.
Whereas AR was being looked forward to bigtime because of the big hit song and akki-ash pairing after long!I ve always been talking about the pre release vibe of a movie, and that’s what counts on getting an opening, big or small! Audience knows what they want to watch. In fact not having seen G2, I still preferred to go for G3 over AR.

5 1Yup Rj even one dialogue of akshay from AR became popular pre release ‘Awaaaaz Niche’ besides its music and chartbuster song Jor ka Jhatka compare to G3 of which music didn’t became as popular as of AR and promos were written off.
Had similar experience and views about AR and G3 that diwali.

2 4Aryan anf Rj- from when did critics reviews started mattering for big comedy films ? Negative reviews never ever hampers a big canvas comedy film. Otherwise films like Hf2 would have not worked.
And again, if G3 had negative hype even to an extent then how would it have opened to big numbers ? Hype of the film is determined by opening of the film. Even ETT did not have good music, but see what is it doin today! Same for bol bachchan which has hit 100ce mark.
I agree AR did have poor opening because promos.were just not exciting. And to top that, G3 was releasing.

Yeah agree for that ,mean while Akki will play aaprox 2nd lead in movie ,he”ll come 15-50 minuts before interwal like he had done BhoolBhulaiya, but After that Only Akki’s Magic will work & Audience roaring in Cinema halls Sure!!Btw according Farhad – the script Writer of Movie- the changes of Akki’s charecter have Done for Akki’s Fan.
So it’ll never fail.
