Farah factor protecting Sirish
August 31, 2012, DC
The Joker director has mastered the art of picking fights with everyone in the industry, from Shah Rukh Khan to Akshay Kumar (the leading man in Joker), but thanks to Farah’s goodwill and connections, he gets away with what normally would be social and career suicide in Bollywood.
Vivek Oberoi, for example, is still treated like the proverbial leper in Bollywood since the time he took on the mighty Salman Khan. But unlike Ash who dumped Vivek, Sirish has Farah by his side to protect him.
It was SRK’s fondness for Farah that made him agree to promote Joker after Akshay refused to be part of the promotions. A generous Shah Rukh didn’t let the past — Sirish’s public show of joy when SRK’s home production Ra.One flopping or the fight the two had at a party — come in the way of doing Farah a favour.
Sirish, it seems, doesn’t want to learn. Because while superstars like Salman Khan and Shah Rukh are promoting his film, he is busy trying to pick a fight with Akshay Kumar. He Tweets and then deletes his rude comments about Akshay Kumar.
Instead of appreciating that Akki completed the film without any tantrums despite the fact that he was unhappy with the way the story was shaping up, Sirish took to Twitter to blast the actor for not promoting the film.
“A true leader takes responsibility for his team and leads them through thick and thin. Never abandons them and runs away,” he had Tweeted. Guess Farah read the Tweet, because he deleted it soon after.
While Sirish goes to the market making fun of celebrities, no one has a bad word to say about him in public! A couple of months ago, Farah’s outspoken brother Sajid Khan was gushing about his love for his sister and her kids in an interview in this paper, but when it came to Sirish, he said, “We don’t interact much but we respect each other.”
It’s the same with others. Whenever a celebrity is approached, the reply is generally along the lines of, “Farah is a dear friend, please don’t involve me in this.”
The only one willing to go on record was director Kunal Kohli, but he too very politely said, “I am nobody to comment on what others do. Let people do what they want to do. I don’t want to comment on other people’s Tweets.”
Tweeting against the stars
Here are a two of Sirish’s controversial tweets:
Against SRK: “I just heard a 150cr firework fizzle,” referring to SRK’s film Ra.One which flopped.”
Against Akshay Kumar: “A true leader takes responsibility for his team and leads them through thick and thin. Never abandons them and runs away.”
