Salman’s Ek Tha Tiger crosses 100 crore mark at Box Office in 5 days
Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif starrer latest Hindi movie Ek Tha Tiger (ETT), which released on August 15, has done superb collections at the Indian Box Office. The movie has broken the first weekend collection of Sallu’s previous film Bodyguard, which had grossed Rs 85.50 crore in five day extended first weekend. It has set new bench mark by crossing Rs 100 crore mark at the domestic collection centres in its opening weekend.
Ek Tha Tiger opened to an earth-shattering response at the Box Office. The Kabir Khan directed flick registered 100% occupancy at both single screens and multiplexes across the country and raked in Rs 32.92 crore on its opening day. With this, it shattered the first day collection record of Hrithik Roshan starrer Agneepath, which had grossed Rs 23 crores nett.
But the business of Ek Tha Tiger dipped more than 50% on Thursday and it went down further down on Friday. The movie witnessed a big jump in its collection on Saturday and Sunday. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted yesterday, “#EkThaTiger *India* Sunday trends: Better than Saturday. Another BIG jump expected today.”
Ek Tha Tiger has scored Rs 77.10 crores nett at the Indian collection centres in four days. Its breakup is Rs 32.92 cr on Wed, Rs 14.5 cr on Thur, Rs 12.90 cr on Fri and Rs 16.75 cr on Sat. As per the trade experts’ calculations, the film would add Rs 23 crores nett on Sunday to make it Rs 100 crore in its first weekend at the Box Office.
However, Ek Tha Tiger has become all time highest grosser movie in the first weekend. Salmania is the main reason for its huge response. The makers of the film had massive promotion for it. Salman and Katrina’s superb performance, real storyline, amazing music and camera work are its major attractions. In addition, the movie received positive reviews from film critics and viewers.

2 1selectcity walk saket pvr and dt cinemas are perhaps the highest end cinemas with ticket prices of 350 rs. both had close to 36 shows (8 audis and except for 2-3 shows only ett was playing.) and every show was house full yesterday.

3 1Rajasthan and CI circuits jumped 50 percent from saturday- those figures are out for sure. And multiplexes were on fire yesterday. BTW saw it the second time round yesterday- this time in Delhi- Vishal single screen- capacity 1401- evening show choc-a-bloc. Amazing experience- enjoyed the movie a lot better this time round as the sound system was much better- largely a family crowd- big families and kids.
Anyway I think the 50 percent jump would be across India- so on a base of 16.5 saturday- Sunday should be 24-25. Lets see what BOI and others say.

2 321 Cr on Sunday is sort of below expectations in my view. Sunday and Monday 24-26 Cr- it would have implied universal appreciation. Let’s see what it does today- but whatever happens now I think it an average sort of public report that the movie is carrying- somewhere between average and good in my view. But not at all a MUST Watch sort of feedback that 3 Idiots or to a certain extent even Dabangg had. But again, whatever happens a huge final tally in on the cards.

5 2and rowdy vrathore may be crossed in ist extended week. yes! all that rowdy collected over 7 weeks, slowly but painfully, will be crossed by salman’s average film (as they say) in 1st week.

and this is for serenzy as he has been asking me about my ‘feedback’ about ett. i am not into reviews and this is strictly my opinion for serenzy’s eyes only.
i think ett is a very basic script/concept. so zero marks to kabir khan. the screenplay is predictable so zero marks to adity chopra for screenplay. i had guessed all the twists in advance. the biggest strenght of the film is salman’s natural, effortless, spontaneous acting. it takes the film to the ‘excellent’ level. especially wen in the final chase sequence salman manages to get into the plane and tells zoya – “pilot ……….” well that is a scene only 3 ppl in india can perform that way – dilip kumar, amitabh bachchan and salman khan. pain in the eyes, dignity on the face, control on the body language (contrast that with the scene sharukh gets hurt in a film, any film, and u will know wat i mean).
so 8 marks for salman’s acting, 1 mark for stunts (they are international class and except a bike chase in ‘blue’ i have never seen such action in bollywood. the last 15 minutes are a film in itself.
and offcourse 1 mark to katrina for beauty and acting. total 10/10.
but mainly due to just salman khan.

5 0Danish ETT has proved again (after Ra1) that holidays can change the collection in what level… so dont compare ETT’s collection with RR..Dont you feel shame that with 6days extended week end and highest number of print release with 20% hike in ticket rate ETT can not surpass the collection of 3I… and now what type of platform you want to surpass that?price rate 100% hike and 15days holiday ?

@dwnpiyush – saare collections abhi hi karwa loge to they will find the stick of trending to beat ett. i wud like it to collect 10 cr on tuesday and drop at 1 cr a day from that point. that wud take it to 170-180 at a good trending rate.

about the movie ppl are expecting a jason bourne kind of thriller when in fact it is an action love story..and a good one at that
and about salman’s acting..i second that view…i haven’t seen dilip kumar but amitabh salman preity and kajol are the most effortlessly natural actors in my opinion..and strangely shirish kunder was the one to bring that best out of salman

the scene where kat meets her captain and salman sees that..the expression he shows are so natural..exactly how normal ppl would be wen hurt..if i m not mistaken tht was hurt mixed wid am i gonna regret whatt i m about to do kind of expression..and i love those small things..the scenes about the stars..loved it…and ppl who thinks salman is low on energy..in first half he is playing a kaddu in front of zoya by the way doesn’t kaddu mean pumpkin?coz in the theatre here the subtitles show bumpkin

I will give Kabir Khan points because-
1. The locations he has chosen. Just out of the world- Agar picture bilkul badda hoti tab bhi sirf locations ke liye main 2 baar dekhta kam se kam.
2. Convincing Salman to have no desi tadka at all. No one liner- nothing at all. Very restrained humor- very restrained love story.
3. Styling of salman and the way he has been presented- especially in the first sequence in Iraq- that look has been defined as the ‘the’ look for Salman in the film.
4. No in your face commercial song. None at all.
5. The touch of class he has brought to the table by having actors like Girish Karnad and Ranvir Shorey play crucial roles.
The one liner story that Aditya CHopra must have given him had a lot of potential. I think Kabir and Neelesh Mishra deliberately kept it very basic and refrained from adding to much drama. Most certainly drama was missing. A lot of it was action without emotion- especially the Ireland chase sequence.
