Stupidity of Box Office India
While is was obvious to everyone that the Wednesday figures of GOW2 cannot be compared to Friday figues of GOW1, BoI went to town calling the opening poor. If the opening was poor and there was further drop on Thursday, why more screen were added on Friday? And why are the figures on Friday so much higher than Wednesday and Thursday? After all as some very wise people in the form had commented, Friday is also a working day like Wednesday, so there is no difference between the two days. Mysterious isn’t it? How dumb can some people get!
“Gangs Of Wasseypur part 2 improved on Friday in Delhi/UP as it was screened on more theatres. Delhi/UP is the best performing circuit for the film though still below the mark. The approx figures from Delhi/UP for the first four days are as follows
Paid Previews – 10 lakhs
Wednesday – 71 lakhs
Thursday – 59 lakhs
Friday – 83 lakhs”

0@utkal – its very obvious that the journos at boxofficeindia are neither well trained student of journalism nor of business organization. what kind of a trade site will use the term like ‘nett gross’. come to think of it, even their english is really bad.
the only skill that they have is the ability to collect data from current boxoffice across the country, so trust thenm for just that. apart from that all their attempts at analyzing data (new and old) inflation adjustment and most of the time even making ‘verdicts’ are pathetic attempts.

Today when even a film like jism 2 after receiving worst WOM for the year collects 2.5 cr on its 4 th day …..
and a movie like GOW part 2 ya sequel…….collects 2.75 cr on its first day ….drop the next day to 2.25 cr…..
and increase 12 lakhs in Delhi/UP…on a National Holiday….
and some guy says BOI is being Harsh…..hahaha……BTW ETT is also not Releasing on its Full Screens on Wednesday….some more screens will be added on Friday……just like GOW 2….had…..

Would you please take the pain to explain me – what’s th difference between Wednesday and Friday release? Or shall I ask what is that HUGE difference between a friday and wenseday release that I missed out and you ridiculed it?
You can make a post where your predictions have gone right by few crores (Tmk and Gow) and also name who have gone wrong with that predictions. But how does it make sense to enjoy your failure of predictions (Ishaqzaade)? I remember you made a post saying your predictions were almost right when Ishaqzaade remained 3.5crs behind of what you had predicted.
Its clearly shows you want to remain in the limelight and want people to know you as some very knowledgeable person on forum.

Fora dark film with Manoj Bjapayee as the biggest star over a romantic feel good film with two stars like Shahid Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra, that sis a remarkable achievement and a sign of changing times. Directors like Kunal Kohli may ignore this at their own peril.
And overtaking it by crores was not my prediction. Overtaking it was. And mind yoiu, not another soul thought hat it can happen.

0 0Friday was not a holiday for all here in Mumbai (which is the main market for a dark film like GOW2). It was holiday for all Govt. employees. Schools were open. Banks were open. Besides, considering the traffic jams dahi handi competitions cause, even those enjoying holiday would think twice before venturing out.
Considering this, GOW2 performance is quite good. Saturday will be a better indicative.
Booked tickets for myself for tomorrow in Fun cinema. Advance booking is very good considering the high price (270 – 290). The promotion and the positive recall value of GOW1 seems to be doing its job.

0 0That’s my prediction. Because the film has that something which touches you, moves you and gets talked about. THe music is great. The lead pairs are new ( and hence fresh) and do a commendable job. Parineeti is great but Arjun is nice too. ( I have maintained no love story can connect with an audience unless both the guy and the girl have some charisma and some connect with the audience. Case in point Imran and Genelia in JTYJN). It’s very well-written and well filmed with a touch of individual director’s signature. And it talks today’s language- in filmmaking, in its writing , in its stars , in its music. It’s bound to grow from strength to strength and cross 45 cr, Raoedy Rathore or no Raowdy Rathore.

0 0I dont think there’s anyone on this forum who wants GOW2 to succeed more than me… I have a close friend who’s part of this project.
Now coming to BOI commentary on its opening. Well, here’s the deal.. over 90% of box office sites have called its opening poor, why single out BOI?
And if you find BOI such a stupid site, what’s your alternative? what other source is better?
I’ll be the first one to admit that BOI is not perfect…at the same time, I cann’t think of any other source on the web that’s nearly as fair, accurate and unbiased.
Reminds of that Churchill quote, “Democracy is the worst form of government, except for all the others”. So yeah, BOI may not be a great site, but it’s definitely better than all the others.
Ofcourse, my favourite is when yakuza, of all the people, calls it a biased site.
