Gangs Of Wasseypur Part 2 First Day Business
Gangs Of Wasseypur part 2 collected poorly all over. The Delhi/UP circuit was a bit overall the collections are in the same range as the opening day for part 1 which also opened poorly but managed to show a bit of growth in pockets.
The non performance of part 1 at the box office which opened poorly and failed to grow much in most parts of the country has resulted in the second part getting a poor opening. The opening was better in Delhi NCR and Mumbai city and that is where the first part managed average collections.
The film had collected around 30 lakhs nett in paid previews on Tuesday and below is the breakdown of its first day business.
Mumbai – 1.08 crore
Delhi/UP – 74 lakhs
East Punjab – 26 lakhs
West Bengal – 13 lakhs
Bihar – 7 lakhs
CP Berar – 11 lakhs
CI – 11 lakhs
Rajasthan – 13 lakhs
Nizam – 9 lakhs
Mysore – 12 lakhs
Others – 4 lakhs
TOTAL – 2.88 crore

0Don’t understand why BOI’s commentary for GOW is so negative from the start. They kept dissing GOW1 even though it showed solid growth despite a lot of competition (TMK, TASM).
Now they are talking so negative for a film which many people didn’t even know was going to release on Wednesday instead of Friday.
“The opening was better in Delhi NCR and Mumbai city” – so were they expecting a good opening in Bihar and Rajasthan? A film like GOW is totally metro-centric and was never going to do well in smaller centres anyway.

0 1BOI has their own taste, they pump Srk and Akshay movies to the hilt but then they give accurate box office figures, they don’t raise 5-10cr from the real collections and then correct it when the film fails that is what i like about BOI.
Also their unnecessary pumping didn’t help RR, HF2 or Ra one and Don2 much nor writing off AP the very next day and following days as they gave accurate data and numbers. GOW may fall along with AP in their commentary.

Kahaani with similar release colected 23 cr in 1st week..
Fks with 800 screen colected arnd 20 cr 1st week…

The above statement is what irritates me. Agree that GOW opened poorly but it did NOT fail to grow.
Murder 2 did 35 cr first week and wrapped up at 43 cr.
FKS did 20 cr first week and wrapped up at 31 cr.
GOW1 did 16 cr first week and wrapped up at 28.It is obvious from the above that among the 3 movies, GOW1 grew the best.

And their repeated use of GOW1 not growing “in most parts of the country” also wrong. GOW is not the kind of film which will work in most parts of the country – it is kind which can only work in high-end multiplexes.
For Jism 2, they had clarified before the release itself that such movies usually don’t do well in Delhi-East Punjab area. So why don’t they just state in case of GOW that suc movies usually don’t do well in non-metros?
Their numbers are the best and most reliable. But their commentary sucks!

first of all i m not here to defend boi or bash Gow, but the fact is Gow colection was poor wit such huge release…Ha ha ha i thnk u dont no that movie with low opening has high potential… If not then say that gow trending was better than dabang,RR etc

Even at 48 cr after 35 cr first week, Murder2′s growth is much less than GOW1 if we compare their bases.

No, a film with low opening has as much potential for growth as a movie with high opening.
Yes, GOW’s growth is on par with Dabangg and Rowdy Rathore. GOW1 was liked as much as the other two movies – only its number of audience was smaller than the other two.
Just like Vicky Donor was liked as much as 3 Idiots (similar growth) – only its number of audience was smaller.

Liked Movie wit lower opening can hang on theatres wit less screen for longtime & wil trend at lower end.. But that cant be case wit bigger movies as colctn drops bigger with screen lost & trendng doesnt go same way…Even if Gow releases was 600-700 screen their outcome would hav been same with diff of 5%…

Patiala House did not show any growth – it barely doubled its opening weekend. Thank You indeed trended very well but got labeled a flop because of its high cost. It was a liked movie and I had stated so during its release too.
Small or lower opening movies are the first to be taken off from theatres in the second week if they don’t perform. For them it is more difficult to find screen space as compared to a big movie which will still get some screen space in the second week even if it fails.
And there are many examples of a big opening movie showing great trending – 3 Idiots, Singham, ZNMD, Golmaal 3 – all of them trended more than 3 times their opening weekend despite huge opening weekends. Even Ready, Dabangg, Rowdy Rathore etc. did 2.8 or above trending despite huge openings.
I have argued with you many times about trending and I can’t keep repeating the same things again and again.

0 0Increasing Screen size doesnt increase a movie’s target audience… It isnt massy like murder 2…hence single screens are out of question and it has a complicated story by bollywood standards so small cities are out as well… It appeal lies in high end multiplexes.. Nd even there…it aint for women…children and families at all like a kahani or vd… It doesnt have star at as well…28-30crore fr such a movie is gud if nt great…wonder on what drugs boi are calling the collections poor..

exactly, this is the question to be asked to producer/makers of the movie not to boi…
When u know this movies are going to make losses to bihar,raj etc exhibitor then why are u releasing huge in those area?For boi it doesnt matter…
If that was case then why boi was always against RR in east punjab circuit.. They wer clearly sayng it was underperforming in delhi & ep when they clearly knws that these circuits are not for mass movies like RR or wanted…

Thank You’s trending was 2.7-2.8 on my trending scale, so it was as much liked as RR and Dabangg by the people who saw it.
VD, Kahaani and Vivah are much bigger trending hits than RR, Ready, Dabangg. The former are films that will be remembered for decades to come while RR, Ready etc. are the kind of films people enjoy a lot while watching but forget soon after. And how do you explain the trending of 3 Idiots – it trended better than Kahaani despite a much bigger opening.
Singham, ZNMD, Golmaal 3 are all big movies which trended excellent with competition – and there are many people who disliked them too. With more acceptance, they would have done more. With lesser acceptance, they would have done less. Just how much they did shows their true acceptance.

Movies like gadar,hahk, ddlj,3i happens once in decade.. So cant talk much as they are not regular cases…
Znmd, singham has 4 open week for themselves despite of competiting with each other…
Golmaal 3 doesnt hav competition as ar was rejected from 1st day itself & its major colectn came from first 2 weeks where it was free…

q1 -wat is bigger trending- less ppl liking a film with more intensity or more ppl liking a film with less intensity
q2 – if we take numbers instead of percentage then dabangg was watched in theatres by close to 1.10 cr ppl in the 1st week who did not like it. GOW was watched by 12 lakh ppl in the theaters who liked it. but the 1.10 cr ppl cud not dissuade ppl from coming to theaters and another 80 lakh ppl watched dabangg in theaters over next few weeks. shud not those 1.10 cr ppl have slaughtered dabangg so that from monday no one dared get close to a theater playing dabangg?
also shud the 12 lakh ppl who watched and liked gow in 1st weekend shud have sent anothr 12 lakh at least (at the rate of one each – i am setting the target low as sending someone to theaters is tougher than stopping them) over the next few weeks. but that also didnt happen.
