Of Genuine ‘Haterz’ And Fraud ‘Neutral Trade Experts’

in the middle of a ‘protest strike’ against unfair bans on salman fans, NG par aaya to main tha ye dekhne ki mere saathi, fellow salman fans have been unbanned or not but this post from a ‘respected neutral trade expert’ infuriated me so much that my ‘strike’ went for a toss.

darasal doston i was going to be without any regular  access to internet between 1st august to 25th august (salman fans adventure trips par nahin jaayenge to kya shalu didi ke ‘munna’ shahid ke fans ya utkal ke ‘cutie’ imran ke fans jaayenge) and therefor decided to use this period to pressurize mods to lift unwarranted bans on salman fans. maine socha tha ek teer se do shikaar ho jaayenge. bas beech beech mein jahaan cyber cafe milta tha, i used to log in to naachgaana to check if aryan etc have been unbanned. but today i came across this fraud article/list from the ‘resident neutral trade expert’ of naachgaana and i said “jaise chor sipaahi ke game mein ‘time out’ lete hain waise strike mien bhi to le sakte hain” (but mods – beware. i am still serious abt my demand and strike. and stop acting like prem chopra from ‘kala paththar’, refusing to adress ‘labour class’ concrens)

ya! so give me a tashan, delight44, fazal or a yakuza any day. atleast in their case i know wat i am up against. even a ‘dismissive’ utkal, ‘cocooned in his ivory tower’ tony montana or even an ‘irritable’ shalu didi is fine. but wat gets my goat is this ‘neutral trade expert’.

the only reason i am not naming him is becoz personal posts are not allowed on ng and at the rate he keeps changing his nick (thru his latest he is promoting his own rival website here, wonder wat is moderator policy on that considering they are so against ‘agendas’ of any kind) but as i was saying at the rate he keeps changing his nick, its not much use naming him (wonder why all ‘natwarlaals’ are so much into pseudonyms)

he has indirectly wondered on many occasions what is it that antagonises me so much abt him. well look at his latest post on ‘stars with back to back highest grossers.

http://www.naachgaana.com/2012/08/07/stars-with-back-to-back-top-grossers-of-year/

before i expose his fraud let me make another point.

in this post he has named stars who had back to back biggest grossers of the year. dlip kumar (1947 jugnu 1948 shaheed and again 1960 mughal e aazma, 1961 ganga jamuna) rajenra kumar ( 1963 mere mehboob, 1964 sangam) and aamr khan (2008 ghajini, 2009 three idiots)  have been mentioned so also salman khan (2010 dabangg, 2011 bodyguard) and amitabh bachchan (1977 amar akbar…, 1978 mukaddar ka sikandar and 1979 suhaag – which might have been the biggest ‘grosser’ but not the biggest hit – verdict wise both superthits  ’jaani dushman’ and sargam’ were bigger than the hit suhaag)

however amitabh bachchan’s name has been mentioned twice. (1974 roti kapda aur makaan and 1975 sholay). so before i expose his real fraud, one more point.

the conescutive bigger grossers of the year indicate just one thing – how a certain actor has been the biggest craze for two or more years. and in that regard ‘maine pyaar kiya (1989)  and saajan (1991)  miss the record just on a technical ground –  by just 3 days. mpk was released on 29th december 1989 and its success story was more of a 1990 successs story than 1989. now considering mpk was an atbb and if u put in between superhit ‘sanam bewafa’ and the other successes like baaghi etc, its very clear that salman was the biggest craze for those 2-3 years. but since the whole idea of that post was to undermine salman’s success, i dont expect the ‘neutral trade expert’ to go out of the way and make this point in a footnote or a foreword.

BUT….. BUT….. BUT….

can the neutral, respected trade expert explain that if amitabh bachchan’s special appearnce in 1974′s roti kapda aur makaan where he was amongst 5 stars, 3 of them male and wasnt even the part of the love-triangle does qualify then why does not salman khan’s much longer (amitabh had just a few scenes in the beginning and end in roti…)  and significant performance (there were just 4 stars in kkhh, only 2 males and salman was part of the love triangle, and crucial to the plot)  in kuchh kuchh hota hai (1998) also qualify and give him another record (1998 kkhh 1999 biwi no 1)

and even if u insist the biggest hit of 1999 was not salman’s solo biwi no 1 but the multistarrer ‘hum saath saath hain’ (though its a misinformation)  you wud do well to remember that both saif ali khan and mohnish behel were much smaller stars than vinod khann and rishi kapoor of amar akbar anthony.

but since when have ‘neutral trade experts’ started caring for facts. the problem is ppl tend to take such ‘white collar frauds’ seriously and therefor they are able to do much more harm than the ‘open enemy’.

    @ Doga

Hats off to your response to Danish !

    @ Danish,

I will answer to you actual query..

Roti Kapda aur Makaan cast list include Amitabh in the principle cast. It was promoted as Amitabh film (along with co-stars). Thus, should be included in his repertoire.
You can verify Amitabh’s name in the principle cast of movie from here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K21bV_IXRro

But somehow, I didn’t see the name of Salman in the principle cast of KKHH . Here is the link for verification: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JhlUTK7JF9s
In addition, KKHH was not promoted on the name of Salman. He was there just for a guest appearance. So, the credit of the performance SHOULD NOT and WILL NOT go to him.

Now, go fight with Karan for not including Salman’s name in the principle cast.

BTW, A few of the Salman’s fanatics even include Sirf Tum as his movie. :)

@sanket – mujhe negative response mila to aap kyon khush ho rahe ho bhai?

anyways thanx for agreeing i have a valid point.

@mkt – hats aur kachchha utaarna band karo aur direct point par aao. which is two fold.

    1. why do u need youtube or any website (which have got nothing to do officially with the movies mentioned) to decide anything for you? cant u simply count? sit with a watch/stopwatch and see how many minutes of appearance does salman have in kkhh and how many amitabh has in roti kapda aur makaan? ginti bhi nahin aati kya?

how do u know roti kapda aur makaan was promoted on amitabh’s name. i dont think that in 1974, with just one hit (zanjeer) and 13 flops behind him, amitabh was in a position where a manoj kumar (post numerous hits) and shahsi kapoor (post jab jab phool khile, chor machaaye shor, sharmili, waqt aa gale lag ja and many more) film will be promoted on amitabh’s name. remember sholay and deewaar hapened a year later.

salman was a much bigger star in 1998 than amitabh in 1974. also kkhh strategically did not reveal salman to surprise the audience and thats done with a huge star. u dont surprise the audience with a one-hit wonder (thats wat amitabh was till then).

    2. as a salman anti-fan if u take that stand, its fine. my entire objection to doga’s post was that he is supposed to be a neutral trade observer. he has to stick to the facts.

  4. Like or Dislike: Thumb up 3 Thumb down 0

Is there any poster of RKAM where Amitabh was not there ?

  5. Like or Dislike: Thumb up 2 Thumb down 0

And is there any poster of KKHH which have Salman khan ??

Can any body find even a single poster of KKHH where they show Salman Khan ? (Not fan made, only official poster).

  6. Like or Dislike: Thumb up 1 Thumb down 2

@yakuza – thats wht i have already said. in kkhh salman was a surprise, amitabh wasnt worth a surprize in 1974 so he had an ‘apoorva agnhotri in pardes’ kind of space in intial posters of rkm(poster 1 & 2 posted by you) in later fosters for re-runs off course amitabh’s space got bigger (poster 3 & 4).

by the time kkhh came, the era of multi phase promotion was over and films lasted just a few weeks in theaters.

but that does not increase amitabh’s role in roti kapda aur makaan, nor his contribution to its success, at least in the 1st phase (1974-75) and i dont think rkm was sholay that collecxted huge for 3-4 years)

take another example – sawan the love season had salman in every poster and promo. does that make it more of a ‘role’ than sirf tum where he was used as a surprise? its all the maker’s strategy.

can u deny salman was much much bigger in 1998 than amitabh in 1974 with just one hit zanjeer behind him?

i am into numbers. count salman’s screen minutes in kkhh vs amitabh’s in rkm. count salman’s hits before kkhh vs amitabh’s before rkm.

as for perception, unko opinions ke baaju mein rakh do. opinions to pata hi hoga kahaan rakhne hote hain?

    • Like or Dislike: Thumb up 4 Thumb down 1

That is my answer to you that he how he was used in promotion .. His presence can be easily felt and even in first two posters he got better footage than Shashi kapoor. His name appeared before Shashi kapoor in casting of movie ..

But see KKHH case .. there is no Salman at all in any publicity appearance .. as for as surprise is concerned .. this surprise appearance simply doesn’t give any credit to Salman for opening and success of KKHH at any level.

    • Like or Dislike: Thumb up 4 Thumb down 1

And in you language … keep your subjective opinion to you self. You don’t have any data to substantiate your claim .. neither in terms of official casting nor in terms of publicity material.

  7. Like or Dislike: Thumb up 1 Thumb down 0

The posters and starcast list have nailed it. Salman in KKHH was exactly same like Akshay in Dil to Pagal hai. Nowhere in the poster or starcast list Salman or Akki name was used at all for those movies.

  8. Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

@yakuza – an appearnce on posters is promotion???? how??? even prem nath is there on the poster???? was he the star attraction????

by promoton i mean giving the audiences ‘an amitabh bachchan/salman khan/srk film is coming kind of impression. in any case i gues those days there were only posters and all this tours and hype wasnt around, nor was tv interviews. so there is no way amitabh cud have been used for ‘promotion’. in fact there was hardly any promotion than the occasional stills in magazines and it wud have helped if u had shown those. amitabh was on the posters and so was apurva agnihotri on pardes and pyaar koi khel nahin posters. promotion my foot.

and in any case where have i claimed salman’s role in opening? (though by second day ppl knew salman is there) but in overall collections of kkhh salman has roughly 20% credit, in the same ratio to his role vs srk in the movie. (ignoring feale actors who were there even in roti kapda aur makaan) in fact maitbh had around 15% role in rkm collections. with 55% going to manoj kumar and 30% to shashi kapoor. (these are my rough calculation of ratio of duration of their roles in the movie) as i said i belive in maths and science, not subjective views.

and thsi is data : number of minutes, number of rupees, number of hits (pre rkm and pre kkhh)

who was there in the posters is all a matter of startegy of producers.

i will simplify it for you.

manoj kumar, one individual though 100% that amitabh shud be included in posters. (cud be 5 or 10 including his team)

karan johar, one individual thought salman shud not be included in posters. (cud be 5 or 11 individuals including his team and srk)

60 lakhs ppl ( 20% ppl of 3 cr footfall of kkhh watched it for salman.

60 lakh ppl (but just 15% of total 4 cr footfall of rkm) watched it for amitabh.

the numbers are same becoz of changing market dynamics and falling PPC population patronizing in cinema ) but the percentage is higher.

    simple.

how did i reach the %age? screen minutes. divided between all male actors.

    • Like or Dislike: Thumb up 3 Thumb down 1

These are all subjective opinions. Keep it to to your self. You don’t have any data to substantiate your claim .. neither in terms of official casting nor in terms of publicity material. Amitabh name coming in second place just after Manoj Kumar and before senior actor like Shashi kapoor says it all. Rest is your subjective opinion.

  10. Like or Dislike: Thumb up 2 Thumb down 0

No, you don’t make sense at all . Don’t just blabber provide evidence. Salman in KKHH is same like Akki in DTPH no difference at all.

  11. Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

@dino – count akshay’s minutes in dtph, salman’s in kkhh and amitabh’s in rkm and decide.

    • Like or Dislike: Thumb up 3 Thumb down 0

There is no tool available online to count minutes .. When you get that let us know, else keep your subjective opinion to your self.

  12. Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

@yakuza – a simple watch or stop watch can do it. and u need it in case of very close compatition. in the case of rkm vs kkhh with over 5% gap u dont even need it. i can count scenes of maitbh in rkm and kkhh. i think amitabh appears in 2-3 scenes in the beginning and end. salman stays in the film for 1 hr and sings a song.

u need to be really bised to not be able to count.

    • Like or Dislike: Thumb up 1 Thumb down 1

Please take a stop watch and start it for both movies on scene on Amitabh and Salman and don’t forget the video recording of this activity. Only after that you can put your objective opinion with valid data. Till then … in your language .. keep your subjective opinion to yourself. As of now as per official casting and poster publicity .. all your claims falls flat.

  13. Like or Dislike: Thumb up 3 Thumb down 1

Yes I have checked the minutes Akshay has 2 seconds more than Salman. Also the title song of DTPH is on Akshay so he gets more footage and marks. Also, he has acted better in DTPH so he gets some more marks.

  14. Like or Dislike: Thumb up 1 Thumb down 0

But still I could not find any poster of Salman in KKHH or of Akshay in DTPH.

  15. Like or Dislike: Thumb up 2 Thumb down 0

    Dino,

    Absolutely correct.
Credit-wise, Salman in KKHH = Akki in DTPH

  16. Like or Dislike: Thumb up 3 Thumb down 0

    @ Danish,

Minutes (of screen appearance) dose not mater. The credit of a film’s performance always goes to official cast, and not the supporting fillers (Yes, Salman was a bare filler in KKHH. Replacing him with Uday Chopada would have made zilch difference in the films performance).

  17. Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

@yakuza – any argument between 2 ppl is actually meant to convince the onlookers (the neutral and fence sitter onlooker) as the parties involved hardly change their stance.

and just becoz u suggest a very tedious and time cnsuming excercize, u think the readers wud fail to realize u are avoiding numbers.

to begin with those hwo have seen kkhh and rkm will know salman’s role in kkhh is much bigger (i am no into getting significance of the third angle in a romantic triangle and the role of a borther who looses an arm)

those who have not watched one or both films can see that u are avoiding the lenght of the role factor only with a purpose.

thirdly on one of the free days i can actually atke up this excersize. i have alkready done it for sholay and hahk and u know wat? salmans role was 30% more in hahk than amitabh in sholay. if needed i will do it for kkhh and rkm alos.

and wat makes u thin ill then posters settle it? till then it remains status quo.

@dino – but wen i counted akshay was 40 minutes less than salman.

and i can clearly see salman in the posters above of kkhh.

@mkt – if a film was released without a credit roll, who wud be responsible for its success?

    • Like or Dislike: Thumb up 3 Thumb down 0

Again subjective opinions … where is Data ? Where are numbers ?? Nothing is there to substantiate your claim .. In your language opinions are assholes .. keep it to yourself.

Whatever you done on Sundays .. you have not recorded and present here for prove. So keep your subjective Sunday activity to yourself.

As of now as per official casting and poster publicity, KKHH belongs to SRK only and RKAM belongs to Manoj Kumar and Amitabh.

  18. Like or Dislike: Thumb up 3 Thumb down 0

Danish, I think you are using a Chinese made stop watch as such the difference in timings. Also, maybe there is some issue with your spects cause you are able to see Salman in KKHH hai poster but none of us can.

  19. Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

@yakuza – no dear. in the absence of proof its status quo. posters are no proof of credit from viewers, if at all its a prrof of producers strategy.

@dino – wen u cud see akshay for 2 seconds more in dtph than salman in kkhh, why cant i see salman in the posters above ?

also my stop watch is a swiss made. and i dont wear glasses!

  20. Like or Dislike: Thumb up 2 Thumb down 0

    @ danish,

“if a film was released without a credit roll, who wud be responsible for its success?”

Off-course the actors on whose name the film was promoted.

  21. Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

@yakuza – and in any case my question was for ‘the neutral trade observer’ not a bachchan fan. i can understand ur take on this matter as well as that of all bachchan fans/ salman anti fans.

but i think doga claims to be neither. so i need his take on the matter, not urs.

  22. Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

mkt – and if a film was not promoted and dint have a credit roll?

  23. Like or Dislike: Thumb up 2 Thumb down 0

  24. Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

@mkt – and if a film was not named?

  25. Like or Dislike: Thumb up 4 Thumb down 3

But did u deduct the time for which Salman din’t act and was just repetitive and also did you deduct the time in which Salman was there but camera was focussing on Kajol and also we should minus some seconds when Salman only side angle is shown then we shall declare final results. Still sorry to say but you have no proof at all. No Salman in official stacast list no Salman in even one poster. KKHH for Sallu= DTPH for Akki zero difference no matter how much you cry.

  26. Like or Dislike: Thumb up 1 Thumb down 1

If it makes you happy, then you can surly give the credit for any such film that was not promoted, did’t have a credit roll, and was not even named to salman. I have no objections.

Don’t intend to support anyone’s claims here.

But Honestly speaking salman’s role was definitely bigger than akshay in DTPH.

KKHH was hands down SRK’s film but even salman was totally loved for his supporting role in the film i guess he even won few awards for that..and it is kind of known as one of most memorable special role till now at least no one can forget that salman’s entry song which was like a rage those days which was also promoted big time in the later promos of the film.Though i was very young but i still remember how public went crazy making huge noise in salman’s entry song in the film.

about akshay in DTPH he is hardly known for his that role. and as i said his screen time in DTPH was easliy very less than salman in KKHH.

  30. Well-loved. Like or Dislike: Thumb up 5 Thumb down 0

As far as poster are concerned i guess it was very well known later that karan johar wanted to keep it SECRET a kind of Great Surprise which even worked big time for him.

and in any way wasn’t there deepika solo poster for dum maro dum or urmila for china gate so does they there films???

  31. Well-loved. Like or Dislike: Thumb up 5 Thumb down 0

Salman Khan had won award for his performance as Supporting role in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.

and Abhishek had won SAME AWARD for his performance as supporting role in Kabhi Alvida Na kehna.

  32. Like or Dislike: Thumb up 1 Thumb down 0

@dino – no i did not deduct anything which was perception based. i just counted minutes and seconds.

@mkt “If it makes you happy, then you can surly give the credit for any such film that was not promoted, did’t have a credit roll, and was not even named to salman. I have no objections.”

    - in which case u agree that posters, promotions, credit roll etc are no PERFECT way to guage the significance of an actor or his credit as by your method the credit may go to salman for a film that he didnt even star in.

now try my method of counting screen time. now u ask me as many questions as u like and try to prove that this method can fail in any freak case.

    no it cant.

so the best way to judge the credit is, like always, a quantifiable method of counting screen miutes.

@diva – the issue here is the lenght of bachan’s role in roti kapda aur makaan and salman in kkhh. akshay was just a ‘red herring’ thrown in to derail the debate.

  33. Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

    @ danish

LOL, you can’t understand the message behind a simple comment.

and there are numerous examples of actors having lengthy roles but negligible impacts and vice-versa.

However, I neither have time nor intention to sit and count screen times to give you proof, that too when I know that “Bhains ke aage been bajaane se koi fayada nahi hai”

In any case, a straightway examples comes to my mind is of Padosan. Sunit Datt has much longer screen time but the movie is remembered today mostly for the Kishor Kumar’s act and songs (though his screen time was significantly smaller than SD)

  34. Like or Dislike: Thumb up 1 Thumb down 0

Honest opinion from the bottom of my heart

didi this was a very vulgar thread started by you :(

  36. Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

@mkt – i exactly understood the import of ur comment and answered it. u did not get the sarcasm. i dont belive in subjective views. there is no way to prove the actor with a longer role in a film had less impact than one with a shorter role, but there is a very simple way to prove who had a longer role. just count the scareen time.

on rkm and kkhh – i just remember two amitabh scenes from rkm – one where he is doing sit ups and commenting sarcastically as the family discusses and the second where he dies. while on kkhh i remember so many scenes. this wen i watched kkhh 13 years back and rkm 4-5 years back.

still based on my experience i wont call salman more memorable in kkhh than amitabh in rkm. i will still count screen minutes.

and i dont agree with u on padosan also.

@ricky – i wud still go by a quantifiable measure like screen time than ur views.

@pyaari behna – honest opinion from the bottom of my heart

wen u question the authority of the powerful, the socially respected, u do feel the heat. in one of my commnets i have given the example of bhanawari devi rape case where a judge said ‘respected ppl from the village cant commit rape”. however i am still willing to accept that this is a vulgar thread if u can give a satisfactory answer to my question

why include rkm and amitabh but not salman in kkhh?

if u cant answer this question then this was a very vulgar comment from you.

Give me link of screen minutes ?? If not then keep your subjective opinion to … ;)

And .. is it hard to put any thing without link ?? But problem ye hai jo khud likha hai usme bhi galti se “Cameo” bana diya … :)

@yakuza – screen time ka link nahin hota yakuza, ginna padta hai. r u one of those ‘internet scholars’ whose entrire research is based on the available sources with no 1st hand work? aisa hai to harvard to kya JNU mein bhi admission nahin milega aapko.

go. pick up 2 dvds/download. count the minutes. i counted – salman in kkhh has approx 34 minutes of screen time, amitabh in rkm has 22 or so.

But you have failed to give any proof of screen time. Without proof everything is subjective opinion .. isn’t it ?? .. ;) .. And opinions are assholes .. every one has one .. ;)

As far as data from my side is concern … I have given you four proofs ..

      1. No credit in casting.
      2. No poster presence.
      3. No performance mention in review.
      4. No presence in promos.

And you failed to produce even ONE single proof of your claim.
