BOI forgery of OLD Amitabh movies collections series ONE – Naseeb (1981)

Lets start with Naseeb .. 1981 Release.

Naseeb was sold for 4.9 Crore all India Price

BOI forgery of OLD Amitabh movies collections series ONE Naseeb (1981)

And it was Super Duper Hit by trade guide on basis of ROI

1977 1982 BOI forgery of OLD Amitabh movies collections series ONE Naseeb (1981)

Super Duper Hit was given for movie whose returns were in 225-300% range.

This means minimum collections should be in range of 11+ Crore.

Even BOI had it 10 Crore before .. http://web.archive.org/web/20030801213418/http://boxofficeindia.com/amitabh.htm

But now they have reduced it to 7.25 Crore ……. http://boxofficeindia.com/showProd.php?itemCat=187&catName=MTk4MQ==

BOI don’t even realized that 7.25 Crore collections means less than 4.5 Crore distribution share . . SUPER FLOP .. :)

BOLO TA RA RA RA  ……..   :D

In 1981 Naseeb was played in our cinema. We got print after 3 months of its release (it was release in March and we exhibit in June, 1981). Naseeb was biggest glory of our cinema in 1981. We couldn’t play Lawaaris which was release after 2 months of Naseeb because Naseeb continued its run till September end. In October and November, we share prints of Lawaaris with another cinema in our town. There was half an hour difference of show time between both theaters, a Rikshaw wala was on permanent job to carry print from one cinema to another.

Meri awaaz suno jaisi movies ka to door door tak kahin naam hi nahi tha.

Out of all the bumper Masala potboilers of Amitabh Bachchan from the 70s and 80s, I enjoy Naseeb the least. It looks like a jabardasti ki film to me trying to to recreate a Amar Akbar Anthony.

And i liked all movies of Manmohan Desai except GJS. Naseeb had little flaws, but never the less it was royal entertainer and so were songs, still got huge goose bumps listening likes of “Zindagi imtihaan leti hai” , “Chal Mere Bhai” , “John Jaani” , “Pakdo pakdo” , “Rang jama ke” , “Mere Naseeb mein” … I still never miss any chance seeing it on big screen if got any.

Haven’t seen GJS. Ya the songs in Naseeb were good. But Hema Malini trying to do a Parveen Babi in the title song was a complete fail! It actually made me laugh out loud.

For me Shaan was a much superior film to Naseeb. Wonder why it didn’t do as well- it had everything going for it! Same is the case with Shakti and Kaala Pathar. Shakti is my fav of them all- right alongside Sholay and Deewar.

          • Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

Shaan suffered because of two reasons :

            1. Straight comparisons with Sholay.

            2. Technologically too advance to be able to enjoyed by audience at that time.

But Shaan had very good re-runs collections in 80′s, But ironically even in re runs, it couldn’t beat the fantastic 14 Crore collections of Sholay from 1984-1992.

I think u r wrong….BOI had Nasseb Gross not nett at 10 cr
while they have increased the gross to 14.5 cr….
same as they done to Lawaaris while earlier they showed 9 cr gross now they show 12 cr gross so they have actually increased all AB’s films gross we u look close……

@yakuza – baaki sab theek hai but meri aawaaz suno was a huge hit too.

by the way wen u are starting this series, also give wat according to you wud be the verdict – in boi terminology- for those films

for instance i know amar kabra anthony and mks shud be atbb.

    wat abt others?

    • Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

You can easily guess that Meri awaaz suno prints were available at deal of Rs 25000(15% reducing per week) without any MG (Minimum guarantee). And Naseeb was available for 150000 with MG. Distributor could asked for such big price with MG .. only if movie is faring extremely well in other cities. Same was case for Lawaaris. At that time Amitabh movies prints were too costly even for reruns, that’s why his movies were considered Gold mines for distributors.

@dwnpiyush – hema ji ko kuchh mat bolo. she was very cute. do u know she was 33 in naseeb and the heroine of the two biggets hits of that year, kranti and naseeb.

bhai Hema is my fav. It’s just that in that song she looked too out of place to me.

    AMITABH BACHCHAN
There might be an never-ending debate on how perhaps the Movie business has changed in the last 30 odd years. Actors are doing increasingly lesser movies(though this trend started in the 2000?s only),increase in other mediums of entertainment, and so on.
On the other hand there have been booms too for the industry with Music(in 90?s) , Sattellite/Cable(2000?s) providing a very good avenue for Movie Revenue thus helping a lot in the movie’s recovery.
Also can be said that modes of promotions has also increased by leaps and bounds.
But leaving the above behind, and going movie to movie, Amitabh Bachchan hit an extreme purple patch for almost 15-16 years between 1973-88.
The Innings is interesting for the amount of movies done and the success rate achieved.
Infact of the 63 movies Bachchan did in that period only 7 movies faced monetary losses of any kinds, thus a loss making movie used to an Event for Amitabh Bachchan.
Also, Amitabh Bachchan had atleast 1 hit a year for 14 straight years(1973-86).
Take a look. * Verdicts Based on Film Information Trade Journal, probably the most strict system of Verdict out there.
