saddest movies

LOVE STORY-loved this movie for the lead actors chemistry and verbal tennis.fun throughout yet sad ending.lead character Jennifer was so fun.choked up
KAL HO NA HO-Srk at his ham worthy finest. There is something in his hamming that makes you cry.Preity’s wonderful acting didn’t help too.choked up again.
TITANIC-This has to be one of those obvious movies that makes the top 5 of any sad movie list.oh jack why did you have to sink and Kate why did you have to look so damn pretty in this movie. The touching moments of the supporting cast doesn’t help too.choked up again.
MY GIRL- the funeral scene in the movie must be the best child performance ever.Anna Chlumsky as Vada was simply super and Culkin was cute.couldn’t speak for a while after the movie finished

HUM DIL DE CHUKE SANAM-didn’t know which side to choose.felt sad for Ajay throughout the movie and heartbroken for Salman.yet felt happy for Ajay’s character at the same time. bitter sweet!
WAQT-The whole movie was a fun ride apart from the songs which were terrible.the end however was so well acted by amitabh and akki.lovely touching movie.
TAARE ZAMEEN PAR-my friend sitting next to me made a long distance call to his mother during interval. That alone proves how touching and effective it was.sad but with a happy ending :D
PURSUIT OF HAPPYNESS-whole movie i felt bad for the character as he went through the struggles. And when the time for happiness comes they show only one minute of it.Screw you director!could have shown at least 5 mins of happiness. Will smith at his finest.
KING KONG-Oh! Kong! why did you have to climb that building?Who could have thought that the most romantic moment of the year would be between Kong and his girl in the snow playing around. And oh the fight scenes were epic too!choked the hell out of me.
SHOLAY- Amitabh death scene.Damn you Mr Bacchan.Extremely well acted
THE GREEN MILE- This movie actually made me cry.Thank God I was alone while watching it.Tom Hanks at his finest.
NO ENTRY-cried like a baby.ok I am just kidding with this one :D

Guys, any movies that touched you, please do share :D

  10. Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 1

@dennycrane what was there to cry in No entry bhai ??? please atleast the tell the scene which made ur sis cry ???

BTW its abt sad movies – Janwaar is more of an emotional journey of a criminal who become a father (not his own child)

    Dosti i havent seen

i wont say i cried but the SAD movies(movies where hero doesnt get the girl) that made me emotional are
    Tere naam
    Titanic
    Kal ho na ho
    waqt
    Mann (aamir one)
Border (it has some of the best emotional moments with the mother waiting for her child ,, newly married waiting for her husband, Basically the climaz scenes)

some other which cant be termed as sad movies however made me emotional are
    pursuit of happiness
god tussi great ho (yes it has some similarity with my life except that ki main god nahi bana :) )
    namastey london
JEM (has some wonderful emotional moments involving all three characteres at oe time or other )

Sholay can be termed as mid way .. i felt so bad when Big b dies and jaya is left alone :’(

ANAND- the climax was emotional and touching…

PATIALA HOUSE- The scene where Akki cries and main kyun jagoon plays in the bg when rishi tells him to go…

King uncle- when i was a kid i used to get touched when paresh and that lady come to take that girl back from uncle Lol not anymore

Didn’t quite get what you wanted to post? You said Saddest Movie but you have mentioned movies such as Pursuit to happiness, Taare Zamin par, Sholay, Green Mile, King Kong. They had some elements of emotions but they were not saddest movies even Kal Ho Na Ho.

    My choices would be;

Walk to remember – Although it is a Romantic movie the saddest and emotional part starts prior to Climax of the film

Moment to Remember – this is also something on line with walk to remember

1947 Earth – Aamir Khan’s film which is based on the partition of the film

Black Friday – A movie based on 1993 Bomb Blasts

Mumbai Meri Jaan – A film that depicts normal life of people after terrorists attacks.

    Dilip’s Devdas

Mera Naam Joker – one of the best film of Raj Kapoor

Khuda ke liye – Pakistani film based on terror back home in pakistan and tortures on american soil directed by mansoor

Firaaq – Nandita das directorial debut film that sometimes gets you question yourself based on Gujarat riots and aftermath – political thriller

Vaatsav – las 20 minutes of the movie is bloody emotional with the tragic end.

Tere Naam – something similar to Vaatsav – last 20 minutes are emotional with sad ending.

Swadesh – Movie does have happy ending but the whole movies is so emotional which describes the real picture of India. For me this is the most emotional and saddest film as it shows the true picture of India.

there are many movies but this is what i can remember as of now.

manish- u know the scene where bipasha says her husband is in coma or something to salman..tht was the only mildly emotional moment in the entire movie..and my sister slipped :D

hatsoff- by sad movie i didnt mean only those movies with sad ending..i meant movies which really choked u up during the course of watching it..ofcourse some of ur choices are also genuinely sad movies
king kong and green mile are genuinely sad movies with sad endings too..whereas tzp has ample sad moments n sholay has one powerful sad scene which lingers even after movie finishes
i was once watching 100 saddest movies and i think green mile was voted no 1 0r 2 in the list..not saying tht list was ultimate though

@dennycrane – Then change the title as “Movies that made you Emotional”

About Green Mile – I have watched the movie and it has only 10 minutes of emotional part with sad ending offcourse.

Tare zameen par and pursuit of happiness are more of an inspirational and motivational movies then Sad movies but yes they had so much of emotional quotient that you feel for the characters and get emotional. thats why i said change the title so that others can understand what exactly the post is about.

hatsoff-tht last 10 minutes itself makes the movie the tearjerker it is regarded today..
and once again i repeat..sad movies doesn’t necessarily mean movies with sad ending..even movies which end on an upbeat inspirational note can have sad scenes which leaves a lasting impact on the whole movie.u might not find green mile ,tzp etc sad..but there are many who do find them sad..

and by your logic…even swadesh is just emotional, seven pounds could be seen as collection of emotional scenes with a sad ending, titanic can be seen as a movie which had maybe 20 mins of sad scenes…but that’s not the point..the point is these movies have scenes tht really leave you wid a sad feeling

    • hatsoff

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

Your heading says Saddest movies… but your choices are not saddest movie but movies with emotional content thats why i asked you to change the title not to battle it out with any of your ego ;) it would have been helpful thats it.

Swadesh – Whole concept described about sad state of India and its reality which is true and it was not just any emotional content or saga.

Green Mile – the person can do miracles to others but cannot save himself from being framed from wrong charges, it was like larger than life movie. Anyways the movie was neither sad nor had any emotion quotient except the live feed of termination of death penalty candidates on an electric chair. Nor it was an emotional or sad ending if you go by the director’s POV.

Nothing can beat emotional climax of Anand … Muqaddar Ka Sikandar comes next. Sadma climax was BIG Sadma, bow to kamal hassan. Never able to complete Tere Naam. Bachchan death scene in Sholay was much touching .. so much that we often hear stories that most of repeat audience of Sholay left cinema after this scene. Baghbaan was complete emotional and Paa climax was again touching. Akki death scene in Khakee was huge shocker and emotional at same time. Rang de basanti climax was again a shocker and very touching. Mann was completely moving, climax was hair raising emotional. Akele Hum Akele Tum and both Sarkar series has huge doses of emotional scenes. Waqt climax was awesome .. so was Sharaabi.
