Doga to come alive on-screen
After divesting the coal mafia in Gangs of Wasseypur, film-maker Anurag Kashyap plans to make a film on Raj Comics’ superhero Doga, the rustic comic book hero, who is India’s answer to Batman. The project is already on the roll. And if sources are to believed it would at least be a Rs 70-crore plus project. The film is being co-produced by Raj Comics and Phantom Films.
Doga is hugely popular and since its debut issue in 1993 there have been 200+ comics. For the uninitiated, Doga is a vigilante superhero who wears a dog mask. He is an orphan who was raised as Suraj in Chambal in the midst of brutal dacoits. He moved to Mumbai as a youth and called it home. Beneath the glitter and shine of the skyscrapers, the city of Mumbai hid an ugly face that was deeply scarred and infested with drugs, prostitution, land mafia and organised crime. The cries and miseries of the weakest and downtrodden pushed Suraj to the edge and he emerged as Doga to take on the wrongdoers.
The film will mark Raj Comics’ debut in Bollywood and talking about it, Manish Gupta, CEO, Raj Comics says, “It had always been our dream to bring out our superheroes from the confines of comics pages to the wonderful world of cinema. That is but a natural progression for us.

0 0I would have ideally wanted first a Nagraj Movie to be made as he is the flagship character of Raj Comics. Though now its the “Big Three” with Nagraj,Dhruv and Doga.
A Nagraj or Dhruv Movie would need HW level costs and Doga is more close to reality thus for right now he suits it best.
Hopefully this movie , if made , can somewhat revive the Desi Comics industry, which is all but gone apart from Raj and Diamond Comics.

0 0oh my god my fav charachter doga in movie wow…but i think 70 crore is too much for this film coz i dont think any film in india can do above 80 crores without any big star…actually i want salman to play this role…he will surely give the full justice to this role…suraj is a solid man with heavy mussels and powerful physique…salman is perfect for this role…salman bhai leave sher khan and look at this one waise bhi suraj naam aap ko bahut suit karta hai.

And baring the superstar sahil khan is the best option among bollywoodians imo and if the movie is good it vil surely recover its cost nd vil b very profitable as well. @tituff – wen did anuraag made sahil khan act? in which film? by the way n chandra had made sahil khan act 10 years back in ‘style’ and he was hilarious in it. and the film had worked.
@RJ – happy to hear someone else also sees promise in nikitin dheer. even i think he is talented and is being dismissed just becoz of his huge physique. in fact more than doga, iw ud love to see nikitin dheer playing hetahcliff in a bollywood version of the victorian classic ‘wuthering hights’.

I dont really get attracted to manequins. Katrina kaif is good looking for sure but she is so devoid of expressions, that its a major, major turn off for me.
The only time I liked her was probably in that pic someone posted here on Naachgaana (where she is standing besides, the hair dye pasted over his head, still trying to look young Dilip “suposedly acting tutor” Kumar) and a couple of scenes in ZNMD.
besides that I have never been attracted to katrina kaif.
