Is Imran Khan Really Getting Rs. 11 Crore For Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai 2?

Many from with the industry and trade were shocked when a section of the media reported Imran Khan‘s fee for his upcoming Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Againand forthcoming films as Rs. 11 crore. Not only did it seem unimaginable, considering the fact the actor has only been around for four years, but seemed unreasonable as Bollywood has just managed to find the winning formula of cost-effective production that is leading to money-spinners.

Imran Khan
As it has turned out, the so-called ‘news’ is apparently untrue and even Imran is believed to be a tad amused.

Imran is not getting 11 crores,” confirms a trade analyst. “It doesn’t even sound practical at all. Yes, his films have been faring very well with the urban youth and he is a hugely popular commodity with the classes but now he has to move into the mass 100 crore club!”

Some of those closely following his progress feel that after Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, Delhi Belly, I Hate Luv Storys, Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu and Break Ke Baad, all profit-making ventures, Imran can afford to demand and command a hefty price.

“Of course he deserves a hike and a good one but 11 crores is asking for too much. He has a strong ethos like that of Aamir Khan. Even his mamu works in such a way that it benefits everyone instead of just him. He never hikes his price unreasonably,” the source continues while adding, “Yes, Imran is being paid much more than before. Whether it is Ekta Kapoor (Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai 2), Vishal Bhardwaj (Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola) or Karan Johar (for Punit Malhotra’s next), everyone has hired him for a good price because he has worked hard and is disciplined. However the number is lower than 11 crores.”

Now why are we getting a deja vu of sorts when exactly a year back, there were talks of Kareena Kapoor demanding Rs. 8 crore for Heroine, something which was conveniently denied by all involved in quick time?

Wall-d’s preponement of christmas didnt affect the film at all but it helped Himesh movie ‘TV’,which is sequel to his cult classic ‘Radio’.Himesh is now planning the 3rd part ‘Satellite’ which is said to be a bigger film than ‘TV’ but he is confident of the product and hopes to end the trilogy with a bang.

fazal: i ahd given the list of first eight films of Sharukh, Salamn and aaamir, and those of Imran. Imran’s record both in term sof BO success and qulaity is no less than the three Khans.

    Utkal,

Imran has a superhit in JTYJN, and 2 hits in Delhi Belly & MBKD. That is it. All his other films have been flops or underperformers. IHLS may have earned good money but it crashed from Monday and I refuse to consider such films as successes.

Imran’s success record is not bad at all but none of his hits have been ‘his’ films – not the way Kaminey was Shahid’s film or APKGK was Ranbir’s film.

But, Imran undeniably has a Trusted Fan Base among the 15-35yrs Females & I have Experiencd it in Real Life many a times.

Serenzy, I actually like Imran Khan – he has a pleasant screen presence and comes across as a genuinely decent guy in real life.

However, onscreen I find him to be in the same space as Rajendra Kumar. Gave lots of superhits in his time – was christened ‘Jubilee Kumar’ – but still wasn’t charismatic enough to make a long lasting impression. The youngsters today won’t even know who he was, though they will know his comparatively less successful contemporaries.
