Taran Ardarsh Verdict for AKKI movies – it’s a gift to Delight
According to him, akki has only 4 hits, sbk, mohra, sik and welcome. I’m not sure who he follows but here is verdict from the most top trade pundit Taran Ardarsh for Akki Movies. I’m not adding BOI as he doesn’t believe BOI plus BOI owners are unknown so hence i will refer to taran where media mainly reference to in relation to BO. Tashan or anyone else are welcome to correct me.
So I will started from hf2 down to 1992. This will only show his clean success according to him.

Aaj BOI hai,Taran Adarsh hai , kal koi aur hoga jiske verdicts alag honge.
I’d appreciate a separate post to justify verdict of these movie using budget,revenues and ROI[along with link of data source], else keep these verdicts yo yrself.Star power is measured by :
1)BOI impact : Akki hardly had any BOI impact in 90s. Only 1 of his movies “Jaanwar” was able to cross 10 crore mark in 90s when movies of Khans were crossing that mark easily.
2)Abhishek Bachchan debut movie Refugee,released in 2000 , which is a perception flop, collected 18.75 crore , which was far more than any Akki movie till 2003.Akki touched 15 crore mark in 2003.
[ Thanks to launch of Miss universe LAara Dutta and Miss world Priyanks Chopra in the same movie]3)Till 2005 , there wasnt any solo 20+ netter AKKI starrer.
These 3 points are enough to prove Akki was a non star till 2005.Even Abhishek Bacchan movie were grossing much more.
He gained some stardonm in 2006[thru comedy multistarrers,] and 2007[thru perception Hits and one Big MS Hit Welcome].
We all know what happened after 2007… Series of flops,megaflops and disasters.Ye HIT ,FLOP kisi aur ko dikhao , show me the BOX OFFICE impact , huge grossers,biggest Hit of year and ATBB/record breakers.

If you wanna know fact, Akshay Kumar’s debut was Saughand, with unknown director, lead actress and the movie earned above average at the BOI, this is according to BOI, Komal’s data, and it doesn’t matter if he did not give ATBB since he crossed that mark in 2007 with over 400 crore worldwide distributor share in a single year which trumps ATBB. Also Taran adarsh the most referenced trade analyst in the indian media has him with most number of clean hits. also abishk was part of it but not the reason for dhoom 2 success, he never got the credit, Guru was his only hit which was solo and that also worked because of the bachchan wedding hype. all of akki’s hit he had credit or shared credit if it had another star like salman in MSK, can’t say the same for Abhi.

3 2Also a superstar doesn’t have to be the one who gives highest grossers, a superstar is one who has a major draw at the box office and can and is able to give big grossers, akshay was a big draw during 1994 till 96 period then he lost it after that after signing horrible low budget action films with crap directors. He regained that after consistancy from 2003 till 2010, yeh he hasn’t had a hit in 2009 but KI, Blue and DDD had a huge opening, with Hf and Khatta meetha and TMK having big openings, so he was a big draw.
