Bol Bachchan action scenes make up for 40% of budget

Rohit Shetty is known to blow up cars for his films. We have seen it all in the Golmaal series. And they aren’t even action films. For his next film Bol Bachhan, he has gone one step ahead and blown up buses too! The director believes his every film should be bigger and better than his last. Bol Bachchan, which stars Ajay Devgn, Abhishek Bachchan, Asin and Prachi Desai, has bigger action than all his previous films. Says an insider, “The action sequences have cost them 40 per cent of the film’s budget (estimated to be over 60 crore). One of the highlights is an action sequence in which a bus is blown up with people (his fighters) sitting on it!

When asked about the expense on the action scenes, Shetty laughs, “You need a producer like Ajay Devgn to finance this kind of sequence. The action in Bol Bachchan is even bigger than Singham. It took us 10 days to shoot this scene. We shot the scene with my fighters in Film City at Mumbai. We had to create an entire bus depot and blow up a bus so yes, it is the most expensive sequence I have ever shot. It was an extremely risky sequence with people sitting atop the bus. There’s a scene where a jeep goes inside the bus. It was like handling a monster car sequence. We rehearsed for days before we shot the scene. It’s one of its kind.”

Rohit reveals that the crew bought a second-hand red Volvo and changed it into a bus. “We have not only blown up a bus in this film but also a truck, jeep and cars. I think we have outdone ourselves where action is concerned.” Shetty conceptualises and designs the action sequences himself. “We take all kinds of safety measures and the drivers sitting inside the vehicles are trained to keep calm and not get excited or scared while shooting. A medical unit was on the set every day in case any accident were to happen but by the grace of God nothing went wrong. One thing I will promise this only happens in a Rohit Shetty film!”

And when i met Rohit 1.5 years ago .. bol bachchan was in pre-production stage, i asked him about concept of movie .. and he told me action of this will be bigger than Wanted. So i automatically assume that this will be out an out action movie. But later when i came to know that its remake of Golmaal, i thought Rohit ne muzhe mamu bana diya. But this news confirms he was true with what he was saying .. :)

He came along with Ajay devgan in our company. he is very clear in his approach, well spoken and straight forward guy, though bit shy .. but not as much reserved as Ajay devgan. More over he is man of words.
