With the official announcement of Aamir Khan as the lead actor in Raju Hirani’s next film, Aamir’s trio of potential blockbusters is complete. The movies that are currently in Aamir’s bag can make any leading star and their fans green with envy (we have witnessed that with some fans wanting their fav star to be taken in Dhoom 3 :P) Here I just briefly analyze the potential business of each of the three films.
1) Talaash: It is the most anticipated movie of the year and that says it all. The first teaser received tremendous viewership and was quick to cross the 2 million mark on youtube. And the fact that this will be the first commercial movie of Aamir after the mega-blockbuster 3 Idiots is only adding to the hype. When it releases this November/December expect hordes of enthusiastic fans to storm into the theatres.
Expected Domestic theatrical business: 120-145 crores.
2) Dhoom 3: The combo of Aamir Khan-YRF comes together and it just can’t get bigger than this especially when you consider that this is the Dhoom franchise. This movie will simply annihilate all standing records and frankly looks like one of the two movies capable of crossing the 202 cr total of 3 Idiots (the other being Krrish 3). In fact it is a given that Dhoom 3 will do more than 200 crores domestically in the least number of days and one could hardly argue on this. This will be the highly anticipated movie of 2013 in any number of polls one conducts.
Expected Domestic theatrical business: 200-220 crores.
3) PK: The record breaking team of 3 Idiots come together once again and need I say more. This will be among the top 3 highly anticipated movies of 2013 and sky is the limit for the type of business this movie can do. In fact predicting the business of this combo’s movies is risky after how many detractors had to eat a humble pie seeing the hurricane called as 3 Idiots and the sort of business it did.
Expected Domestic theatrical business: 180-200 crores.
