KAHAANI did well in its first weekend after a slow start. The weekend business including paid previews was in the 13.50 crore nett region as collections picked up a lot on Saturday though Sunday showed a much smaller jump. The approx breakdown of its weekend business is as follows.
Thursday – 75 lakhs
Friday – 2.75 crore
Saturday – 4.75 crore
Sunday – 5.25 crore
KAHAANI has done fantastic business in Mumbai, West Bengal and Mysore while other areas were good to average.
The film should sustain on Monday especially at multiplexes and with no major competition until AGENT VINOD on the 23rd March it should have a good run for two weeks.
CHAAR DIN KI CHANDNI had poor weekend as it grossed 3.69 crore nett including the business on Thursday. In fact considering its limited on release on Thursday that can be called its best day as Friday, Saturday and Sunday all had similar results with around 1 crore nett each give or take a few lakhs. Breakdown:
Thursday – 80 lakhs
Friday – 74 lakhs
Saturday – 92 lakhs
Sunday – 1.23 crore
The film gave its best performance in Gujarat and East Punjab but even here collections were well below the mark. The film had low key promotion which meant dull start as little awareness for the film and then collections showed no growth as no appreciation.
The film will collect at low levels throughout the weekdays as collections but will be out of most theatres in the second week.
The last week’s release PAAN SINGH TOMAR maintained well despite new releases and its total collection stands at 10.04 crore. Breakdown:
Friday – 60 lakhs
Saturday – 80 lakhs
Sunday – 1.10 crore
And lastly, TERE NAAL LOVE HO GAYA collected approx Rs 1.20 crore in Weekend 3, taking the 17-day total to Rs 20.08 crore nett. Above average.
