This Women’s Day, Bobby Darling shares with Preeti Gupta the reason for her intense need to be and feel like a woman
BOMBAY TIMES (March 6, 2012)
“… I am dying to be a complete woman,” comes as an instant reply to the question – what is the one thing do you wish for – from the Bollywood actor popularly known as Bobby Darling.
Bobby, who has been quite vocal about the fact that she (Bobby insists on being addressed as a woman) is trapped in the wrong body type, shares, “It was in my adolescent years I realised that I have a woman’s soul, which is wrongly placed in a man’s body. Since that time I have been yearning to be a woman, which I feel is the most beautiful creation of the almighty.”
Bobby’s journey towards being a woman started off in her childhood when she accepted herself as a woman. “Over a period of time I rediscovered myself as a woman after a long tussle between my inner soul that gave me the affirmation of being a woman and my brain, which tried to convince me to accept my body type. Now my only wish is to become a complete woman somehow,” reveals Bobby.
Social ostracisation accompanied by numerous hardships became byproducts of Bobby’s journey towards womanhood, one which will end with her long awaited sex change surgery. For her the biggest blow came when her father disowned her. She recounts, “Even though my family and society shunned me, it was my positive attitude that kept me going. It helped me create a place for myself in the entertainment industry, which eventually changed the way people looked at me.”
Bobby, who feels suffocated in her current body, is leaving no stone unturned to join the fairer sex and after the breast implants she is now gearing up for the sex change operation to turn into a woman. “Becoming a complete woman is my only wish and in a year or two I am likely to undergo the surgery for which I am consulting health experts from both India and abroad.”
Like many of us Bobby’s definition of a complete woman revolves around marriage, husband and kids and the multiple roles that a woman performs as a daughter, wife and mother. The charm of womanhood has enticed Bobby to the extent that she plans to start afresh post-surgery with a new name and a new identity.
