SRK is West Bengal brand ambassador

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has formally accepted West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s proposal to become the state’s brand ambassador.

This was disclosed by Banerjee at the state secretariat Writers’ Buildings.

Sources said Shah Rukh’s acceptance came in the form of a letter to the chief minister.

Banerjee had put the request to the movie icon during a tete-a-tete after the inauguration of the 17th Kolkata film Festival last November.

Shah Rukh had then verbally agreed to the chief minister’s appeal.

    Kick out TATAs and hire SRK as brand ambassador????? Dont know when will politics start making any logical sense.

    It was always coming. SRK is very popular in WB and has crazy fan following.

    @Harsha

    Mere bhai, Tatas are industrialists. Not brand ambassadors. Besides, that Nano controversy was deservedly finished with a resounding slap to Tatas; their absolute insistence for farmland is mystifying and actually very insulting, especially since 1000s of acres of Govt. land lay right opposite of it.

    @I.One

    Can you tell me which circuit/state has biggest SRK following in India?

  4. I.One

    Jasp, difficult question. But can tell you that SRK’s movies have fared well in Mumbai, WB and Mysore circuit. Especially in Mysore any movie of SRK seems to have done a good business. Mumbai has given the most volume (which generally does for every movie but in SRK’s case its specific).

    now in west bengal boob groping, crouch groping, slapping will be common.

    @I.One

    Ah yes, Mysore seems to be quite the SRK fan. Mumbai is high-revenue earning for every BW film; agar BW film Mumbai me hit nahin to India mein hit nahi. Simple. Thanks for the info

    @Jasp – The fact that any state gets a brand ambassador is to either invite industrialists or tourists. The TATA issue and the (in)famous unions have scared the industrialists to the core. Even Infosys and Wipro have backed out from expansion in WB. Not sure whats the tourism scene in WB. As far as I know, tourism is not a major industry in WB. This is not against SRK. I would have said the same if they had got any other brand ambassador. WB need some serious re-think in their policies if they want to attract investment in the form of industrialisation. All SRK can bring is film industry :)

    @Harsha

    Totally incorrect; if there is anybody who can bring tourism into WB, its SRK (and believe me, WB tourism management is the worst in the world). SRK will do good for WB; Mamata will have to woo industrialists by herself. No company is “scared” of backing out of WB (especially IT) because Kolkata is quite a viable alternative to the terribly congested and no-longer-appealing Bangalore. In fact, Gurgaon-Kolkata-Pune will drive the next level of IT sector growth.

    @Jasp – “Mamata will have to woo industrialists by herself.” This is exactly what I was saying. And Kolkata is indeed a very viable option for IT (for long now).

    So, Government needs to concentrate more on land acquisition (not to hurt both seller and buyer) and also on the Union culture of WB for the plans on paper to materialize. SRK as ambassador will keep them in news.

    “SRK as ambassador will keep them in news” – Now you have said it Harsha!

    srk to west bengal ko india ki gay capital bana dega.

    @danish

    Good, we have diverse opinions here. Keep them coming.

    @jaspthewasp- lagta hai aapko ‘sab kuchh’ pasand hai. i mean diverse opinions, alternative sexuality, unique predicaments, unsusal miseries, strange predilections. tabhi srk itna pasand hai.

    @danish

    Lagta sachchi mein dimag kharab ho gaya hai. I just told “diverse opinions are coming”. And you blabbered some illogical response. Clearly you need advanced lessons from suprabh.
