    3 IDIOTS inflation-adjusted figure is difficult [or say impossible] to cross for any biggie this year.

    Inflation-ignored figure …thr is some chance ,
    but more likely Dhoom 3 ‘ll take on 3 IDIOTS record in 2013.

    if inflation adjusted figure is to be crossed then a film shud aspire to cross sholay rather than 3 idiots. or if its abt the 3 khans and current stars thyen they shud hope to cross inflation adjusted figures of hum aapke hain kaun. ye 3 idiots kahaan se aa agayi? the only record it has is highest unadjusted collection, and that is it.

    Sholay belong to an era whn piracy ddnt Exist.
    People had no option but to go to theatres to watch the movie,
    thr was no entertainment source[visual] except Cinema[no TV],

    Plus 3 IDIOTS belong to multiplex era,business scenario is completely different.

    So thr is no scope of comparsion with Sholay.

    Jahan tak HAHK ki baat hai , to Movies highest net collections se biggest HIT hoti hain na ki gross se.[ET ka achaar daalna hai?]

    Aadha paisa to HAHK ka Entertainment tax me chala gaya to kaahe ki biggest HIT?

    @delight at the time when sholay released there were not so many theatres hence movies were inaccessible to many even in theatre .. Plus in that era there wasnt much role of media , publicity and promotion…..

    So surely 3 idiots is no where near SHolay

    That was Era whn movies used to complete silver/golden/diamond jubilee in theatres, thr was no need for large number of theatres . People had no option but to watch movies in theatre.
    Those who cdnt watch in first week had option of watching it later in theatres [eventually the only source was theatre/cinema hall]

    Promotion ki kya zaroorat jab sabko theatre hi aana hai ghoom firke?Posters and WOM were enough.

    Promotion to ab hota hai weekend me max audience attract karne ke liye else everyone ‘ll watch it on pirated.

    So surely 3 IDIOTS and SHOLAY belong to different ERA and thr is no way thr collections or BO performance can be compared.

    @delight really .. theatres were not that abundant and ppl at that time wd not travel say 15-20 kms to watch movie .. infact sometime back raj pointed out how in orrissa many theatres have come up and ppl to whom this experience was inaccessible earlier can have it now

    Promotions ki zarurat hai to make people aware that a movie with such a such name is releasing it has this this as merit …. its not only to attract audience but also to make them aware and sholay came in that period

    And yeah promotion is not only before the release nowdays its after the release as well with ppl being informed all over that 3 idiot was a good movie and doing well but at that time it wasnt present only theatres and people meeting each other was the source of WOM ..

    About comparison thing to show movie of ur fav better u tried to degrade a yesteryear classic by giving some lame excuses so iam not comparing iam answering u back in ur language

    Even Mughal-E-Azam bigger than Sholay cant be ruled out but there is no reliable theory/logic to prove which one was bigger ,
    so both are regarded as biggest Blockbusters of thr own era.

    yes Action it is indeed inspired.

    1. Expected Opening weekends for HF2 = 45-50 cr(4 day). and 40 cr for Rowdy Rathore(3 day).

    2. Avengers opening weekend should cross 100 million and can also do 125 but wont do 150+ like TDKR.

    3. Right now MNIK and 3 idiots have 20-25 million range , so its going to take forever for an Indian movie to do 100 million overseas.
